No particular order, but some of my faves:

Sinister

*Great twist on the classic haunted/cursed house with a lil found-footage and heavy suspense sprinkled in. Great acting all round with an excellent cast. *

Hereditary

A film ultimately about grief… The truest horror there is. I went in blind to the plot and was shocked at how frightfully good it was. Toni Colette is an absolute powerhouse in this film - amazing acting all round to be fair. But she really shines in this one.

Midsommar

This is another film written/directed by Ari Aster - the same guy who wrote and directed Hereditary, mentioned above. Really unsettling story revolving around a cult - this guy has a fantastic eye for horror. I really enjoyed this one.

A recent slasher film by Ty West - really well paced grindhouse-y style flick with great actors portraying really likeable characters - a refreshing take on classic plots from back in the day.

Event Horizon

A rescue crew investigates a spaceship that disappeared into a black hole and has now returned years later… with someone or something new on-board. Amazing sci fi horror with great atmospheric dread. Always worth a watch.
