For the past three years iv built my own dashboard in excel that's updated daily and can run some basic numbers. We are growing so definitely looking for something more built out and user friendly. Need Tips for an HR dashboard!
Without more information about what fields you had available, and specifically what the positions table is measuring, it really hard to say. My assumption is that you’d likely have access to information like: department, manager, start date and end date, role class/level, job title, maybe demographic data? That said - you don’t sound like the subject matter expert who should determine KPIs here. Does your team have goals? Is this data aligned to/responsive to those goals? If you really have to start from scratch, the main KPI in hr is probably retention/turnover. I’d start there. Use your org’s definition to visualize monthly turnover rates over time. Typically this is done by looking at the average headcount over the last twelve months and dividing that into the number of exits in a given month. Then create breakdowns by other dimensions to look for differences in turnover (By Department, By Role, By Job Title, By race/ethnicity, by gender, etc…) The other main kpi I see is around staff composition/diversity. Summarize breakdowns by various demographic groups and then provide cuts by role, salary band, job title, etc… Once you’ve figured that out, you might want to start looking at promotions/demotions, transfers, compensation equity, re-hire rates. Then maybe merge on other data - staff surveys and satisfaction, benefit usage, recruiting and hiring funnels. The bottom line though is that you shouldn’t start with a dataset and say “what should I visualize?” You should start with questions, check that your data can answer those, and then get to work. I’d go back to your manager and ask for more direction - start with org or team goals and see if your data can answer those. More on reddit.com

Covers quite a few valuable areas 👍 Small visual thing: Boxes for bottom visuals are too tight to the outer rounded corners imo :) On the numbers: during which time period are these numbers for? The 97 new hires, are they the last year? Since company start? Same with leavers and turnover rate, expenses, trainingcost etc. Any reason for different size on age groups? Navigation: what does the icons to the left mean? Are the users fully aware of what is what? Gender distribution, is it just by chance that several add up to 100 as in 100%? Is it # or %?

Average tenure by department : this is categorical data, there is no need for the bars to be encoded with a sequential colour palette (gradient) Also, tenure is years? months? What data is hiding underneath the averages? Are there outliers? What's the median or mode tenure?
