Anyone have a recommendation for a cooler duvet cover? We have the Stjarnstarr comforter and the Nattjasmin dubvet cover but still seem to over heat. Appreciate any advice! Answer from Jmejia_08 on reddit.com

August 12, 2018 - We have 2 cats and 1 dog and I like that, with the IKEA duvet (all of them) I can wash the duvet cover frequently without having to wash the whole duvet. ... You’re welcome! ... No idea which one I bought but it was the best duvet I ever owned.

r/IKEA on Reddit: Do you recommend IKEA Duvets?
April 29, 2025 -

I desperately need a new duvet and I was looking at ordering one from IKEA because the price is right and I generally like the quality of their products.

I was specifically looking at the STJÄRNBRÄCKA light warm duvet, but the reviews are mixed so I wanted to get some more input.

Would you recommend something else? A different model, material, etc?

I've had my last duvet for a decade so I have no point of reference and live a state away from the nearest store. Any input is appreciated!!

r/IKEA on Reddit: Recommendations - Bedsheets & Duvet
January 15, 2021 -

Looking for some recommendations on new bedsheets and a new duvet.

Specific to the bedsheets, they’d be going on a black/brown Malm bed, bedroom painted grey. I was thinking to go with a solid white to make the sheets ‘pop’ a bit and to incorporate a bright color.

In terms of the duvet, I’d prefer something that is going to be warmer than not.

Would anyone be willing to share their experiences and/or opinions?

Thank you in advance!

I'm a white bedding type of person—always comfortable, always in style, easy to clean. However, I'm loving the KUNGSBLOMMA duvet (solid colour with contrast piping). I like white/black. They also have a linen duvet cover that I've never used, but linen bedding is very popular. With all that said, I just use a white DVALA cover and actually really like it. It's softened up nicely with repeat washings.

I really like my white duvet cover with the stitched stripes. It has just a little texture to be interesting but it's still white, and because it's got stripes, I can make sure I rotate it every month, to help keep the feather duvet fresh / reduce staining on the edges of the cover. (I've got the full/queen, so it's square and easy enough to rotate!) One nice thing about this specific cover is the snaps, so you don't have a big gap for inserting the duvet, like my summer cover has. Ooh, and it's gone down in price since I bought it! https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/ofelia-vass-duvet-cover-and-pillowcase-s-white-00133024/ One of the waffle-texture bedspreads might be a nice addition for your bed, and it comes in several color options, though sadly the amazing deep teal-navy is no longer offered. But you can buy a white one and some RIT dye and get any color you want, I imagine. The white duvet cover will help brighten the space and the bedspread can protect the white if you want to lounge on top of the made-up bed, or else it'll be easy to grab if you need something less warm than your duvet. Vareld / Waffle-texture bedspread: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/vareld-bedspread-light-gray-green-10485600/ (I recommend the vareld specifically because the texture is nice and lightweight but warm. I've got 2 of them in my house - a twin for my couch/tv room and a full/double for the hottest summer nights, or for my guest room.) The Ingabritta throw comes in a great mustardy yellow that would look good in your room, but I'd caution that if you have pets, the oversize knit texture can get caught in claws and pulled out of shape. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/ingabritta-throw-yellow-80495163/ Basic feather duvet (but honestly, I recommend visiting in person to decide which price level you like. I think I went with the middle one ($99), because of the amount of fluff it had): https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/fjaellarnika-comforter-warm-50459053/ Don't forget that if you find your white linens getting yellowish, there's this thing called Blueing you can buy that'll help pull them back to a crisp white by adding blue. You just have to make sure you follow the directions on the bottle - it's not used as much as it used to be, but it does still exist.

r/Bedding on Reddit: IKEA down vs wool duvet!
November 3, 2024 -

Hi, we're wanting to upgrade our duvet from a cheap synthetic sweaty comforter to something nicer and natural. Looking at IKEA right now since they have pretty affordable options. We're considering wool and down.

Can anyone weigh in on the down smell issues? Seems like a lot of reviewers end up throwing the duvet out due to the smell. Is the stank really that brutal?

Also would love any experience with the wool duvet. I love wool, just not sure how warm it will be.

For context, our bedroom gets down into the mid 50s in the winter. We're also running flannel sheets and a Pendleton wool blanket.

Any input on either of the IKEA duvets is appreciated ✌️

I have this one https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/varbraecka-duvet-cover-and-pillowcase-s-beige-white-80412592/ and I really like the texture. I want more pillow cases but they don't sell them individually like some of the others. I would like to know what other duvets feel like these, if anyone knows. It feels like a brushed thread, very soft and smooth for a cheaper/low tc bedlinen.

I have Ullvide sheet set and it's ok but I don't like it for pillow cases, they pull my hair too much.

I wanted to buy more 3b studio Viscose pillow cases but I guess most people here know about the sad story of these being discontinued XD.

r/Bedding on Reddit: Help! Summer duvet: IKEA vs silk?
April 11, 2025 -

I'm looking into summer bedding for our home. I got cotton percale sheet set, cotton duvet cover, and now need a duvet insert. I want natural materials (no synthetic) and am torn between A) IKEA Fjallarnika in light warm (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/fjaellarnika-duvet-insert-light-warm-50457474/) vs B) a silk option (https://a.co/d/20cpliD ---OR--- https://www.mommesilk.com/products/copy-of-washable-cotton-covered-silk-comforter).

Does anyone have experience to share? In the hottest months here (hot & humid) everything will be thrown off, so I wouldn't mind if it had a bit of versatility, i.e., spring/summer/fall.

More info: One child sleeps hot, one does not; they share a room. For winter (gets very cold here) son has the Fjallarnika duvet insert in warm and throws it off most nights. Daughter has the Fjallbracka in warm bc it was too hot for son. Fjallarnika has 90% feather/10% down so I thought getting it in light warm for summer would be a cooler option than the light warm Fjallbracka which has 75% down/25% feather.

IKEA is 3 hrs away so going to see in person is basically already making the choice. Would like to get them this weekend so I can be ready to change the bedding as the weather warms up! Thanks

Hi all, I’m considering pulling the trigger on buying a down insert from IKEA due to the amazing price. Also, is down or down alternative better? I live in western NY (Buffalo area) so we have long winters. I don’t really sleep or cold, basically in the middle. Any recs? I’m not trying to spend more than $150! LMK if they are worth it! Thanks

The issue with IKEA duvets is they use non standard measurements, so you're stuck with their duvet covers. I had one in my Queen and it never covered the bed quite right. They're minimal warmth comforter is great for someone who wants the weight of a comforter without retaining heat, it's one of the few polyester things I think does its job well, but I wish it fit my bed.

I’ve had one for about ten years, and it’s been okay. I’m planning to replace it this fall. It’s light weight, so good in summer, but needs extra blankets in the colder months. Down alternative is definitely better on the low budget end. Buying cheap down is just buying trouble (mostly feather, odor, clumping), and quality down is expensive. Im not convinced it’s worth it for most people for a comforter/duvet. Quality down pillows are worth it though. There are many down alternatives that are generic polyester fill. And there are a few that have a reputation for excellence while still not too expensive. I have a sleeping bag made with Primaloft, and it’s the real deal. It’s twenty years old and still in great condition. That’s what I’ll probably buy. Here’s one that you might like. This company has a great reputation and sells several different down alternative comforters. I’ve been meaning to call them and get more info on their various options. They are big suppliers to the hotel industry. So I’d recommend Primaloft without hesitation, and then you have to get the right weight for your preference. If you want to also look at down, check out Supreme Quilts

I have had the Mysa Vete 1 for four or five years now and I still love it to this day. My sister has the same one at her room at college and her room at my parents house. Mysa Vete is a full down comforter with a cotton exterior. This particular brand and warmth level is made for people who feel warm at night. It's fairly thin, but still has the fluffiness of a down comforter that I love. I have over 15 duvet covers from IKEA and they range in quality for the softness of the cotton. There is no particular rhyme or reason to which are softer. The price you pay really equates to the kind of duvet cotton you're going to get. For an idea, I purchase the full/queen size that ikea offers. The price ranges from 14.99-69.99 for that size duvet cover. At 14.99 you've basically got burlap. 29.99-39.99 are fairly decent ones and those are the ones I usually buy. The more expensive ones I only purchase if the pattern is something I absolutely cannot pass up. I have purchased approximately 5-6 non-IKEA duvet covers. I have gotten them from Bed Bath and Beyond, Target and Home Goods. Beyond the fit, the IKEA ones are my favorite because of the pillow cases. The pocket on the slit that covers the pillow so it stays securely in the case is really a great feature. IKEA also has a great variety of colors, patterns, and styles to choose from. TL;DR - I'm obsessed with bedding. Specifically IKEA bedding.

r/IKEA on Reddit: What's the coolest duvet in the light warm category? (STJÄRNSTARR too cold, FJÄLLBRÄCKA too hot)
April 5, 2024 -

Hi Reddit,

My wife and I have been sleeping with the STJÄRNSTARR all year for a few years, but it's slightly too cold for me in my new apartment (I often wake up cold and need to put on a bunch of blankets).

I decided to try the "light warm" FJÄLLBRÄCKA (75% down) and found it WAY too hot. What would you say is the coolest of the duvets in the "light warm" category? Am I better off just doubling up two STJÄRNSTARR's? (We keep our room at around 69 degrees at night.)

r/Bedding on Reddit: Where can I match IKEA duvets?
November 12, 2022 -

First off, I’m so glad Reddit’s algorithm brought me here because I needed this. I have a queen duvet from IKEA (86 inches on all sides) and I don’t love a lot of their designs for the covers, so is there a site that matches the size? We’ll eventually get a nicer and bigger one, but we don’t have the funds for a $400+ insert right now. I’m also wondering, has anyone ever bought a cover they liked and had it tailored to fit the insert?

I’ve checked Amazon and Wayfair with little to no luck. I want a style that’s mature and masculine without being stuffy and boring.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to help with getting duvets to stay inside of the duvet covers evenly? Whenever I am trying to put my duvet on my bed with the duvet cover on the duvet shifts around so much inside of it, that it ends up being really lumpy, and does not fill up the entirety of the duvet cover, even though they are the same size. I have the twin size duvet cover from IKEA if that helps.

February 1, 2022 - I've bought bed sheets from IKEA before and was really unimpressed. Target has some really great duvets and linens for a similar price, but I bet their thread count is higher.
