Low light indoor plant recommendations for a relatively dark bedroom
How dark are we talking? Im assuming you don’t have any west or east facing windows? Some of the hardiest low light plants I’d recommend would be snake plants or some Dracaena, but even they won’t survive in a room that gets no actual light. I’d get a light meter (they’re pretty cheap on Amazon) and wave it around in your room to see how dark it actually gets. Anything below 800 Lux for a majority of daylight hours, I would classify as “low light”. Snakes, dracaena, and pothos will do ok here. Anything below like 300 lux I wouldn’t try to grow anything in without a grow light, although you can theoretically keep a snake plant in spaces this dark. You just have to water them very sparingly (like every couple of months) and they won’t really grow very quickly. Snake plants are desert plants and they’re extremely hardy, so they’ll tolerate these conditions and essentially go a bit dormant — but no plant will grow without any light whatsoever. December 7, 2023 -

The title pretty much says it all. I’m relatively new to the plant world and really want to bring some into my bedroom but it doesn’t get much light… I’m not completely opposed to getting a few small grow lights but does anyone have recommendations for plants that do well in low lit conditions? Preferably larger / leafier species if that even exists
