Hey everyone, I just upgraded to the iPhone 17 Pro Max and I’m in the market for a good leather case. I’ve been using a leather folio from Nomad on my last two iPhones and have really liked it overall, but I’m feeling ready for a change even though I might end up buying it again.
Has anyone here tried Decoded cases before? Their MagSafe detachable wallet folio looks really interesting and seems like a nice balance of functionality and style, but I haven’t seen many hands-on impressions yet.
I’m open to suggestions for other premium leather cases too, folio or not, as long as the leather quality and MagSafe compatibility are solid.
Thanks in advance!
Hi all,
What is the best leather case for the iPhone 17 Pro Max in terms of offering the best protection against drops as well as feeling nice in the hand/having good grip?
I understand leather in general does not offer great protection against drops but which brand offers the best currently?
I know there are many leather case brands such as Nomad, Ryan London and Andar so advice is needed from those who have tried most of the brands.

I’m going to buy the iPhone 17 Pro next week and I’m already searching for a case. Every iPhone 15 Pro Max case I have tried that was clear ended up yellowing after a few months, and most rugged cases that actually protect the phone just look too bulky and ugly like a robot lol
This time I want something that does both: style and real protection. I have been looking at iPhone 17 Pro Max cases but still haven’t found one that really feels like the BEST case for iPhone 17 Pro Max. I see a lot of pre-orders for cases, but I’d rather hear from people who’ve actually used good ones on older iPhones.
I prefer leather, but I know Apple stopped making their own. Has anyone tried an iPhone leather case lately that actually lasts? I don’t want the leather to start peeling after a month. If there’s a good iPhone 17 Pro leather case or iPhone 17 Pro Max leather case out there, I’d really like to know.
Ideally I’d like something that could be considered the iPhone 17 Pro Max leather case, but I’m open to suggestions for the best iPhone cases overall too. Not planning to cut corners on accessories for my new phone.
Thanks!!
upgraded to the iPhone 17 Pro Max in dec and I’m looking for a wallet case that’s genuinely practical, not flashy or bulky. I carry 2–3 cards max mostly No cash. my Phone goes in and out of pockets a lot
I use MagSafe charging at night, and I’m on calls a lot, so I don’t want a folio that flaps around.
real drop protection also a must for me, not just “leather wrapped plastic.”
I’m fine paying more if it lasts 1–2 years.

I’m upgrading from the 13 Pro Max, so I’ve been out of the game for a while and would like to find a well-made, slim case that also serves as a statement piece, ideally in a quality calfskin or exotic leather.
I’ve looked at a few options from Lucrin and love the look and style of their bumper cases, but I can’t speak to their quality. I also checked Bottega, but they haven’t released anything for the 17 lineup yet.
I'm not opposed to a non-leather case, but I do prefer slim designs with no logo.
We are now a month in, which one is aging the best? Which is the most protective?
Here’s my take. I love these with the translucent back, magsafe compatibility and thick frame. It’s the balance between versatility, looks and protection. Out of all of the cases I’ve tried, it’s my favorite
I also like the “military-grade” phone cases (2nd picture). These turn your phone into adamantium, but tend to be bulky.
Transparent phone cases tend to yellow, so I don’t like them at all
What are your thoughts on this topic?
I always had an Apple leather case for my previous iPhones, this time i was going back and forth with what aftermarket brand i should go with, because Apple obviously stopped offering them. I ended up going with the traditional leather case from Nomad, because my local Apple retailer sells them and i was impressed with the quality. Love the clean back and minimal branding on the side! Color wise i first thought about going with tan, which i had before but figured it might be a little much with the black hardware of the case and the deep blue color of the 17 Pro. I ended up going with black, something i've never had and i'm very curious how it will patina. I picked the regular leather and not the more expensive Horween. Can't wait to put it on my phone on friday!

Finally got the iPhone 17 Pro Max 1 TB. I had no plans to upgrade, but I lost my 16 Pro Max, and my insurance covered the upgrade to the 17 Pro Max. I'm looking at cases but am not sure which one is good. I like the new Apple cases, but is it worth it, or should I go with a cheaper one from Amazon? Share your suggestions and case recommendations.
Sorry this isn't a photo of an iPhone case or a Patina photo. Unfortunately this is also the de facto leather iPhone case subreddit.
Everyone is doing metal camera bumps this year which I don't want or like the look of. Does anyone know which brands are doing leather wrapped camera bumps.
Thanks and you don't have to suggest Bullstap, I know that one but like that design even less.
I'm about to by the new phone this weekend and thinking about what case to get. I saw that dbrand was good and now i'm seeing negative reviews. I saw the dbrand ghost case and was gonna get that, but now i'm not to sure. What do you guys think about dbrand? What cases do you recommend/have?
I have multiple cases for my iPhone 17 pro Max. They are the following:
Apple Clear Case
Spigen Ultra Hybrid T (clear)
Spigen Tough Armour
Mous Limitless 7.0 in Black Leather
I can return the Mous case, but I did pick it up as a used, like-new case from Amazon for £55, which is approximately £15 cheaper than the normal price on Amazon, which is actually inflated compared to the Mous website. However, I didn’t want to deal with the customer service if a situation that required it arose.
Which case do you think looks the nicest and offers the best protection? Should I return the Mous case?
Photographs of each case on my phone are attached.
I’m getting the iPhone 17 pro max. I’ve always had either otter box cases or tumi cases. Tumi doesn’t have one yet.
Has anyone used nomad cases. I’m looking at the modern or rugged leather case. I attached the links. I could always go with otterboxes leather, but it’s not the nicest looking.

Day 3. Loving it but it came with a big scratch out of the box
I’m a little late to the game, but a few weeks ago I ordered the green Tech Woven case from Apple for my new iPhone 17 Pro Max and totally forgot about it. It showed up on my doorstep today like a surprise gift from my past self lol.
I’ve always been a loyal Spigen user; pretty much every phone I’ve owned has worn one at some point, but I’m not really loving their current lineup. The designs feel kind of recycled, and none of them really stand out anymore. So now I’m thinking it might be time to switch things up and try something new.
For those of you who already have your 17 Pro or Pro Max, what cases are you rocking? I’m curious what’s been working for you; something slim but protective would be ideal.
Always down for solid recommendations (or even unpopular opinions).
This is a very specific question, but on my last 3 iphones back to the first gen SE, I've had this "leather" case from Tendlin on Amazon. It's just a TPU case with a sort of black leathery skin applied, and I really like the texture.
Apparently, they did not make one of these for the 16PM, and I don't see one for the 17PM either. Are there any cases that emulate this feel? I see a handful of real leather cases, but I don't want to pay the real leather price for a case. The tendlin one was like $15.
Does anyone know of a company that sells a case for the iPhone 17 pro that meets all these three criteria: •is premium leather •has an open bottom design •has an uncovered camera bar
I always get the Bullstrap minimalist leather cases because I prefer the open bottom design. I was expecting that the entire camera bar was going to be uncovered for the 17 pro, but it looks like their case is partially covered. I’d prefer an uncovered camera bar (like the Andar case look).
So i'll be upgrading to an Iphone 17 next week and I'm still looking for a solid case of very good quality to protect my phone well and also look and feel good. I've done some research but I'm still not sure what case to get. All the cases I'm considering have their own set of problems. Cases I'm considering now:
Mous Limitless 7.0 or Mous Clarity Magsafe: These seem to be a good but expensive option, also takes 2 weeks to ship and i'll be getting the iphone on release day.
Spigen Ultra Hybrid (Magsafe): Problem here is that for some reason spigen doesn't make the version with a camera control button for normal iphone 17's. Only for the Iphone 17 Pro (Max).
Caudabe Sheath: On the website they say that orders will ship mid october.
Torras Q3 Air: They only make the Air version for the 17 pro (max) again, not for base iphone 17.
What cases are your favourites and why? All help would be much appreciated!
P.S: Why do a lot of phone case companies not offer their best cases to all iphone 17 models but only to the pro (maxes)? Don't they leave a big market on the table by doing that? I'm talking about Spigen, Torras, Dbrand, .... Or will the best cases follow for the base iphone 17 later on?
