Personally, I’m going to go with the ESR kickstand case and the navy MagSafe wallet, but I may change my mind on the color. If you don’t want a case, then the moft MagSafe wallet can double as a stand, but the quality isn’t as good. I like the ESR cases because the MagSafe strength on those is unmatched. I’m upgrading from an old iPhone that had a case with a built-in card slot on the back. I found it super convenient for carrying my credit card, but now that I mostly use Apple Wallet, I don’t rely on the physical card as much.
I’ve been looking for iPhone 17 cases with card slots, but most don’t have a style I like or the reviews aren’t great. So now I’m thinking of just getting a regular case and using a magSafe wallet when I need it.
Does anyone here prefer magSafe wallets over built-in slots (or vice versa)? Any downsides?
Some cases on my radar based on positive reviews include caudable sheath, Torras (the one without the 360 ring), and even a $15 Kowauri branded case with a card slot in back.

I tried a few card cases. This one by Goospery is the slimmest, but it’s a little slippery. I assume all MagSafe wallets are interchangable. In the past I've always gotten an ID case w/ the card slots built into the case, but that means I can't use the MagSafe portion to charge.
Wanted to try something different this time w/ a MagSafe wallet, what are some that you guys would recommend?
- Which one holds the most carts + cash?
- Which one has the best grip to the phone and which one has the best grip on the cards starting with one to three cards?
- Which one is the most versatile in that it can best be used as a kickstand, or a standalone wallet?
- Which ones should I avoid due to bad quality, or just the parts loosening up over time faster than others?

I can only comment on the Popsocket wallet. I prefer the Popsocket grip (I like fidgeting with it via spinning it) and in landscape the "stand" capabilities is fine- it can't really be used as a portrait stand. It can be a little difficult for it to hold more than 3 cards. I do also think the card holding ability loosens up a little. I find that at certain positions and a lot of shaking (like being upside down in a loose pocket) can make the cards peek out a little (maybe half a centimeter or so). I've never had issue with the wallet coming off, even when accidentally dropped.

Maybe an oddball request, if so please forgive me.
I currently have a iPhone 12 Pro Max with the Peak Design Everyday Case and Slim Wallet. It has been a great combination for me. The wallet can store upwards of 6 or 7 cards and it has proven to be durable with even that many. I'm finally upgrading my phone and I'm looking to get something different, does anyone have any recommendations of other brands with a larger, sleek wallet like this?

My wife has been using her Peak Design case and wallet for two years, but lately the case has started falling apart at the seams. She tried to replace it with a Bullstrap leather case and wallet, but the case seems to have only one magnet and the wallet falls off when you look at it. At this point, she has found nothing as capacious as the Peak Design wallet, and the magnetic attachment has never failed. As I write, she’s ordering another case and wallet from them.

upgraded to the iPhone 17 Pro Max in dec and I’m looking for a wallet case that’s genuinely practical, not flashy or bulky. I carry 2–3 cards max mostly No cash. my Phone goes in and out of pockets a lot
I use MagSafe charging at night, and I’m on calls a lot, so I don’t want a folio that flaps around.
real drop protection also a must for me, not just “leather wrapped plastic.”

Since you take lots of calls and use MagSafe at night, avoid folio cases entirely. They are a nightmare for ergonomics and charging. Your best bet for the 17 Pro Max is a modular setup.
