multiple full charges and compact enough to easily fit in a backpack/pocket are my priorities I'm sure you know this, but always good to remember that these two priorities are in direct opposition to each other. I have a 20000mAh that can handle multiple full charges but is big and heavy and I would not enjoy carrying it in a pocket. I've actually stopped bringing it on trips because I never needed that much juice before I got to a power outlet (YMMV of course). It fits just fine in a backpack but is heavy. I have a 5000mAh battery that is light and pocketable to carry all the time. Not getting more than 1 charge out of it though. More on reddit.com

Beware that wireless charging doesn't just mean slower, it also means less efficient. For each watt in your battery, fewer watts will arrive in your phone (they get turned into heat). Put differently, you will probably need to carry more grams of power bank with a wireless charger compared to a power bank + short cable. (I say probably, because I haven't weighed a small cable nor checked the exact decrease in efficiency). I have seen online (unverified) claims that the decrease with MagSafe is around 25-33%. Frankly in my humble opinion the idea of wirelessly charging power banks is just utterly stupid. How did we go from swappable batteries (100% efficiency) to wired power banks (around 50% efficiency) to wireless power banks (let's say 35% efficiency)... 🤦. It's nearly 3 times the weight and energy used to achieve the same thing 😅. Sidenote: Some more fancy phone nowadays support bypass charging, which means that the powerbank is used to directly charge the phone, rather than the phone's battery. I have both an Apple magsafe battery pack and an ESR 10,000 mah magsafe battery pack. The Apple magsafe battery pack gets slapped on at full charge and extends my 14 pro max’s battery life by a good amount (few hours). It’s also super nice for gaming without having to be tied to an outlet. I only use the Apple battery for gaming as it keeps my phone from getting hot. Note: the battery does go down when gaming (doesn’t get up charged) as it’s meant to extend and protect your battery, not charge it to 100% When I’m charging all my devices at the end of the day, I typically only charge the Apple MagSafe battery with my AirPods on it as the Apple MagSafe battery does it’s job at keeping my phone at 90% so there’s no need to charge my phone. The ESR battery pack is nice to have because of the capacity and kickstand. I typically use this at home when I’m cooking or eating for the stand, or when I’m watching videos in bed for extended periods. It is noticeably bulkier than the Apple MagSafe battery. Another plus is that you can charge other devices via a usb-c port. The Apple battery is slim, protects your phone by optimizing charging, and is convenient to just slap on and use. I don’t use it often as I work from home. But when I travel and visit relatives, it’s nice to have on there so I don’t need to seek out a charger at a random spot.

It keeps your phone battery between 89-91% intelligently. This isn’t a slap-on-and-charge-from-empty device. It’s a slap-on-and-maintain-charge-all-day device.

Anyone approaching it from the former perspective should look elsewhere. Anyone who approaches it from the latter perspective should give it a shot.
