I’ve seen a bunch of cooling pads on Amazon but not sure if they actually work or just make noise.

I use an RTX 4060 laptop (Lenovo Legion) and during gaming it gets really warm — especially on the left palm rest and under the GPU side.

Does anyone here use a cooling pad that made a noticeable difference? Not expecting miracles, just better temps or comfort would be good.

Open to suggestions if you’ve tested any under $50. Bonus if it’s quiet and has USB passthrough.

I’m looking to buy a cooling pad for my Laptop. I’m new to this so I don’t know which would be best. With what I’ve researched I found these two to be convincing, but if there is any better ones out there I’d like to know. My laptop is a Predator Helios 18. Out of these two, which is best?

My laptop gets pretty hot during gaming sessions and I’m starting to notice some performance drops, so I’m thinking about getting a cooling pad.

I’ve seen different types (multiple fans, high RPM, etc.) but I’m not sure which ones actually help with temps vs just adding noise.

For those using cooling pads, did it make a noticeable difference in temps or performance? What are you currently using?

Edit: Thanks for the suggestions, here are the most commonly recommended cooling pads for gaming laptops:

Llano V12 / V10 – most common pick, sealed suction design, noticeable 7–10°C temp drop for gaming laptops.

Flydigi BS2 Pro – quieter alternative with similar cooling performance, good for long sessions with headphones.

Klim Everest – solid mid-range option, decent cooling and multiple speed levels, not too expensive.

IETS GT500 – very strong cooling performance, but louder compared to others.

Klim Turbofrost – high-end option that occasionally goes on sale, similar performance tier to Llano.

Last I checked, the IETS fan cooling pads on Amazon were the real deal: the system with the fan and foam seal on a stand work.

Since then, I went to a Razer store and saw a prototype that is now on sale that's basically the same thing (but with a Razer pricetag). On Amazon, there are a few brands doing this now: IETS, Aicheson, Llano (and probably some others that might lean a bit too far in the direction of basically being Temu).

There are also variants of all these products within the brands--mostly in terms of fan RPM (putting aside RBG stuff).

What's the best one now? Which ones can change speed to be more silent, or have the best RPM for cooling?

I probably need to repaste my Asus CPU anyway but it might be time to get a real laptop stand and none of these are low budget.

I ordered this cooling pad for my 2070 and i7 10750h laptop, as it tends to run hot, cpu in upper 90s.

Do you think these actually cool down the laptop with the fans, or is the biggest difference with these that the laptop gets more air, cause it's lifted up and not on the mousepad / desk?

Not sure if i can ask for it here. Are these external cooling pad beneficial in the long term. I don’t know how much sound it will make, maybe someone here has tried it already. Worth buying?

I checked the % of FPS in games with this cooling pad is about 0,36%

I ordered a Legion Pro 5 gen 10 that is being delivered Monday. Does any company make a good cooling pad for non desk like surfaces ie your lap, bed, couch/recliner where a bottom intake vent would get blocked? I’d assume it would have to pull air from the sides or might just not exist.

I work at home and in my shop it’ll be fine with a Llano pad or similar but I also take my laptop around the house. I’m assuming I’ll probably wind up trying some kind of bed desk with a cooling pad on it but if there’s another solution I’d like to see it first.

I have seen many sources that say laptop coolers are worth the money but a few youtube tests show otherwise. Is there actually such thing as a high quality laptop cooler?

I have an Asus gaming laptop and I desperately need a good cooling pad. Core temp gets up to 67°C and it makes whatever game I’m playing freeze up. Cat broke previous cooling pad. No processes running in background except for the game and Steam.

I've been using basic Havit cooling pads. They seem to work okay and my thermals are actually very good. I have never had either my GPU or CPU (monitored while gaming with MSI Afterburner) reach 75C. Usually stays pretty steady between 68-72C. Which I think is pretty good. But I'm looking for the best possible pad to prolong the life of the laptop. It's a Lenovo Legion 5, 17.3 inches and has an i7 and a RTX 3060. So far it's been pretty good and I think I got it at a reasonable price thanks to help from ya'll here at Reddit.

I've been looking at some of the more expensive pads out there but many have told me that my Havit that was only 25 bucks (I own 3 of them), is just as good as the more expensive cooling system on Amazon. However, I was looking at one recently that has a more powerful fan and a dust filter that is very attractive to me. The preventing of the dust build up the filter could give, if it works right, might be worth it alone. Either way, the one thing that I have learned is that cooling pads are critical for any laptop that is used very frequently, and I use mine probably about 10-12 hours a day. Since thermals have not been an issue, it might sound like this is a case of trying to fix something that ain't broken, but I just want the best possible performance and want to get the longest life I can out of this laptop. My old Toshiba AMD Radeon A10 series Satellite is now 10 years old and it is still kicking due to how clean and cool I kept it over the years. I just update the RAM and it looks remarkably clean inside and still works pretty well. But that's getting off topic.

Anyway, any one have any luck with a particle cooling pad that seems to stand out from the rest?

I bought a new laptop, and I was thinking in get a cooling pad.

After a research I'm divided, 'cause I found different information about it.

The vantages:

- lower the temps around 7 to 10 degrees

The disvantages:

- blowing again the air to inside of the laptop

- it can blow dust that is coming out of the laptop again to inside of the laptop

- the cooling can damage the fans of the laptop

I have the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro, I was looking online for a laptop cooling pad and I saw a lot of people say that elevating your laptop for air flow is more important that an actual cooling pad.

Is this true?

Hi there! I got a brand new gaming laptop and want to reduce it's temps and fan noise by getting a silent (<45 db) cooling stand.

Can you guys recommend me some? I attached a picture of the bottom intake with the two fans for you to see.
