My dad wants to buy me a macbook, but a lot of people have said not to do so, which is something that i myself agree with. Any suggestions for a windows operated laptop that's powerful & affordable? Thanks in advance.
Try to get a used laptop for cheap (or even free). If you have money left over, upgrade the boot drive (C: on Windows) to a new SSD, and replace the battery if necessary. You may need to get a Windows 10 ISO since Windows 11 is not compatible with a lot of old PC hardware. Most anything that can run Windows will get you through programming in any language.
Once you have some schooling under your belt, try running Linux on your laptop. It will provide better performance on old hardware and give you some learning opportunities that can help you get ahead of your courses.
I would suggest that a cost-effective option is a Dell Inspiron 15. Currently priced at $750. It has some good specs: Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of memory, and a 1TB SSD. It should be capable of handling most coding, development, and basic computational tasks you'll encounter as an undergrad and developer.
My brother in law is starting university and will be majoring in Computer Science. He’s looking for a laptop with a budget around $1,400 (give or take) that will be best for his needs. I’m assuming it’s mostly for his schoolwork and some gaming. We’re not necessarily looking for the cheapest option. Any suggestions will be strongly considered.
NOTE - I am in need to replace my Laptop and I am troubling deciding which laptop to get. I will
mainly use my Laptop for coding as I am a Computer Science student. However, I do enjoy
gaming occasionally.
ALSO, I know the laptops below are pricey but I want to make sure I have a good laptop to use for the next 4-5 Years.
LAPTOPS :
Macbook Pro 14
Asus G14
Dell XPS 15
Macbook Air 15
Razer Blade 14
These are my current list of Laptops that I am considering. Please let me know which one would possibly be the most suited to my needs and if there are other laptops I should consider.
