We are remodelling the bathroom and considering 24 x 48 tiles for walls and floors. But when I see most other posts, people use smaller tiles- the washroom isn’t that big, is it a good idea to use large tiles?

Large format tiles on the bathroom floor + water = slip and fall. Fractured hips cause death. This is why you won't see them on bathroom floors. The more grout lines, the more traction. Inside showers they are all but impossible because the larger the format, the less you can accommodate any slope. Unless you want an actual slanted floor at multiple angles inside a shower. Walls? Do large format to your heart's desires.

I just did our master bath in large tiles about (24 x 48) and really love it. I deliberately chose a tile that had a non-slip surface. It isn't shiny or slick.

If this is your forever home, consider going with larger tile. Because there would be fewer grout lines, it would be easier to seal, and easier to keep clean. And large format tile looks modern and contemporary. More on reddit.com
