I have been wondering what are the best led strips for my ceiling. I am going to do an cloudy sky on my ceiling with led strips and cotton. Philips hue is bit out of my price range. The leds should preferrably be 5 meters and should be able to be controlled via an app.

are you gonna set it up behind the bed or for like the ceiling? cos you’ll be needing a longer strip for the ceiling. and it would cost a lot if going with Phillps Hue or something like that. imo you can find cheaper light strips at Amazon. they work as good as the premium ones with decent coverage and colours. plus i wouldn’t advice leaning towards those led lights that come with app control. cos those apps are useless anyways. slow connectivity and sometimes they stop working after a few updates. but for some who still wanna feel fancy with an app, then Govee works and the app is kinda smooth (v rare). but then the prices for these are also ridiculous. and there is not that much difference in the lighting. you’re just basically paying more for the app interface which doesn’t matter that much imo. although the cheaper ones wouldn’t last that long. but they’re already cheap so just replace them a few times over. you’re still gonna save money compared to buying the premium ones.

August 28, 2024Best way to get power to LED strip lights for a fence?
Don't bury a 120v extension cord. It is dangerous and against National Electric Code. Contact a Low Voltage technician, a.k.a. Landscape Lighting. They will install a transformer at the house to change the 120v to 12v, and they will know the correct wiring to use. More on reddit.com

April 19, 2023What are the go to LED strips?
Been using light strips for years. Had a Philips hue first gen strip which goes pretty bright for roughly ten years (since they came out) alongside bulbs. Had the much newer light strip for what must be about 7/8 years as well. Both rock solid. Never a problem with any bulbs either. Moved house as well and changed networks. Still no problem. Had nanoleaf strips for around 2 years now. Absolutely no problem with them either. Both nice. Not as bright as hue however. Things to note Hue dims down and fades out. I know it’s a minor thing but it just feel premium and the colours of them are great. For me rock solid. Also for family parties of little kids the hue disco app works really well but I haven’t found one that works with nanoleaf and hue which is a shame. Nanoleaf is an excellent price though. Although they just go off instantly rather than fading which just feels different. They lag on Bluetooth but work perfectly on thread if you’ve got a homepod mini etc. They have deals often in shops and you can extend for really cheap if you want. Just isn’t as premium feeling as hue but I think they’re a great choice price wise. More on reddit.com
