I’m looking to (finally) get LED lights around the ceiling of my room. We measured and i’m going to need a 60 foot strip. I look everywhere online, on youtube but all I find are “guides” from scams or cheap companies, or when they are legit the reviews say they are trash. Also not looking to totally gut my wallet, a budget option would be nice. Not looking for much, LEDs that can get pretty bright and dim, a good white, and a good color range. Also want them to last long and not fall off. Any and all help is appreciated
Greetings Reddit,I’ve been having trouble on what kind of led lights I want for my square sized bedroom. Earlier I was close to considering buying some govee led lights but I’m really skeptical of its functionality due to seeing frequent amount of bad reviews on their products but others share great reviews on it so I’m really stumped about this. Should I consider buying govees;if so then which one? If not then what other led lights would you prefer for me to purchase?

I'm trying to find the best LED strips for a bedroom. We want to replace our traditional fan light and use LED strips. What are the best strips that have a high brightness, be programmed, have app control, and adressable led so we can program each individual led. Also what stuff we will need to use the lights. Thank you
my bedroom is a 4m by 2.75m and it doesnt need to be the brightest just something intermediate, also need to support WiFi and Alexa. any recommendations?
EDIT: forgot to mention it has to be an addressable and thank you
Go for Nanoleaf's Lightstrips. It's perfect for your bedroom ceiling, addressable, WiFi-enabled, and work with Alexa.

Heyyy! I need help finding the best light source for my bedroom, I got a small bedroom (3x3 meters) and I was wondering what LED lightbulb I should get to get a nice light cause atm it sucks, I have no idea what bulb I got right now..
what wattage and all those stuff ;)
(I got an E-27 housing atm.
Here's my detail. I want to get better led lights for my room since my current ones are lacking. I would like for them to rgbic so I can do cool and pretty lighting effects in my room. I also have blackout curtains for the best effect. I would like the strips to also be smooth so diffusers or diy diffusing techniques would be great. The budget for this project however is undisclosed since this would be a Christmas gift.
I would like the cheapest option for the best quality possible, since I don't know the budget. It's fine if a better option is more expensive but I'd possible I'd like to be able to compare the two. I know this is a lot to ask for a stranger but I am a complete noob to this and I am pretty overwhelmed with all the different things that comes with it. That why I decided asking people who are more experienced would be better than screwing myself over.
By the way, 16.4 ft is good enough for a pretty decent amount of a corner in my room. So two of those would be enough for me. The power supply would just be a normal power outlet. Thanks for taking the time to read this. :)
Are they immature? Are they modern and cool? Trashy? Overdone? (24M)
Hello and good morning everyone! I'm looking to add some LED strips lights that will sync up with music when I have it playing, in my bedroom. I've been looking around the interweb, but I wanted to get some outside input before I went forward. My room is 11 ft 5 in x 13 ft 7 in (I believe, I'd have to remeasure to know for sure)
Hi everyone,
I need led strip suggestions for my bedroom ceiling. The length I need is 50 feet and I need something with a good adhesive and bright led colours.
Also it would be great if the led lights sync with music or sounds.
What would be your suggestions?
Please see the attached picture as well.
Let me know if I forgot to mention any details, I will provide them on the comments.
Thanks.
I've tested one set of 2838 LEDs from Amazon for crown molding project and will likely add these to all bedrooms. I'll likely go with brighter 5050s on a dimmer.
Anyone care to share their fav source for LEDs at AliExpress, Amazon, etc?
LED strip lights are one of those things where there are a ton of different and varying qualities, outputs, and lifespans. I have done a lot of research and have favorites. The question for you is really, what is the intended use and lifespan you are looking for vs budget.
If you are looking for something that will last 10-15 years, have amazing color rendering, use the best LEDs with the best phosphors, 3-4oz copper strip for heat dissipation, and a really bright output, you probably want to avoid aliexpress and most amazon sellers. I am sure there are great ones on amazon. I couldnt find it. Also here in this page I have seen people link to amazon with referral links. Check the link before you take someones advice.
5050s are the older LED type and pretty inefficient compared to the new LEDs out there. If you are looking for color changing RGB, yeah the 5050s are good. But if you are looking for cove lighting with a nice warm white... I would recommend 3014, 2835, 2216, and 2110 LEDs (in high density).
You're probably going to need something 300-500 lumen per foot + on a dimmer if you need some good output.
I recommend going with a 24V light, as you can make longer runs without doltage drop or uses of amplifiers.
Amazon is a crapshoot. I have had great results for small behind the TV projects but when purchased again from same seller, the product changed and was junk. Others I got from amazon got too hot. I think they are overdriving the LEDs to achieve brightness.
Option 1 - Flexfire LEDs - Great super-bright product. I ordered years ago and the lights are still extremely bright, run cool, and they had a design service for free where I took my photos of my project and they built it all out and quoted it. A little more than I wanted to spend but for a 30-day guarantee, I said go for it. They have like 1500+ 5-star reviews that I assume are real. I love these.
Option 2 - Elemental LEDs I also tried these guys but I cannot find where you can buy online anymore. They had a good selection of dimmers and remotes and I used their lower output lights on my kickboards. They are still running well!
Option 3 - Environmental Lights - Great for DMX and controlls. I havent tried their lights honestly but the specs look good.
Just make sure you compare apples to apples and compare:
-
Lumen output per foot
-
How many oz of copper in PCB
-
Watts/foot
-
Maximum run length
-
warranty
-
compatibility with dimming systems
-
for me... customer support and warranty
-
Price. I tend to go higher quality = higher price. I think I paid like $115 for the Flex fire stuff per reel but it was 3x as bright as the other stuff and has lasted forever.
-
Color temperature and CRI (will each reel you get match the other reels color?) You do not want 5 reels with different shades of white, even a slight variation sucks.
I love strips and have them everywhere... Good luck
edited for missing info
I am looking for this info as well. I picked up a Lightify starter kit on prime day. Having a hard time figuring out what 5 pin led strips are best to use for adding on... Because 6 feet is just not enough.
What’s the best LED Strip to run around an entire room? Wife wants to do her office with them. I know of the different brands, need some practical advice.
Hi,
My other half and I are currently in the process of redecorating and improve our Smart Home life, we've automated a lot of stuff and it dawned on us we just don't have enough lighting in the bedroom, so we're looking to free up the areas around the top edges of the wall / ceiling and put some aluminium channels / housings there with LED strips inside.
The channels I've bought are these: Link
Here's a panorama shot of some of the room, most of the stuff behind the red drawn on lines will be removed / replaced to accommodate our new lights.
Panorama Shot of the room prior to redecoration & light fixturesI've done a bit of research and it seems that 24v LED Strips are the way to go, we're currently rocking a 6500k 1500 Lumens RGBW Smart Bulb in the middle of the room which provides a decent amount of lighting, but as the room's so large it just isn't enough.
So we're looking for the following:
24v LED Strip of 15m in length + suitable Power Supply
6500k Daylight White (RGB is not required)
At least 1000 Lumens (may not be necessary since the whole room will be lit due to the strips?)
Sizes 3528, 5050 & 5630 with 10mm width, to fit the channels I've bought.
Smart Controller, for Home Automation (dimming and Google Home On / Off via voice & Phone)
My issue is that I can't seen to find anything suitable, so I was told to give this place a go as somebody here may be able to help!
Would anyone have any recommendations, or alternatives to suggest so we can complete this project?
Thank you all in advance! :)
Hi, this is my room.
I recently went on a caravan holiday and the fireplace (very similar to this one) had LED lights which lit the room perfectly. There was just enough light to see and it made the room have a glow that created an atmosphere that was really nice and relaxing.
I've done some basic research into what different types of LED lights look like and the prices of some. I don't know very much. I was wondering if anyone had any cool ideas as to how I could light my room and still create a nice atmosphere with warm or changing colours? Sorry if I don't seem knowledgeable, but I didn't really know what to research. When I researched LED lights I couldn't find what I was looking for.
My budget would probably be around £75
I know very little about lighting, I know there’s cool light and warm light, what’s generally the best light to look for for general bedroom ceiling bulbs?
hi! me and my boyfriends room is super dark during the day at the moment we have 3 lamps and we have Philips hue lightbulbs in the lamps right now. we are looking for some moderately affordable lighting options. i’m leaning towards strip led lights but he’s a geek about this stuff. i was just wondering what the best brands are? he doesn’t want the lights to have little dots
Hello Redditor’s! I am going to attempt my first home DIY lighting project. I want to put strip LEDs around the perimeter of my media room, and I would also like to put them around the perimeter of my mother’s room. I would like the ones in my media room to be able to change colors and go along with my music. The LED’s I want to put in my mom’s room will mainly be for her migraines, as green lighting is of benefit to her while having them but I’m sure she will enjoy vibing to the different light settings as well. I got on Amazon and there are so many different brands and options, it seems overwhelming. If anyone can suggest a certain brand or features that I should be looking for then it would be of great appreciation. The perimeter of my media room is 48 feet, and the perimeter of my mother’s room is 42 feet. I read several comments and it seems like some have more LEDs on them which effect brightness as well as many other factors so I don’t know where to start. Thanks for the help, everyone!
Could someone link me some of the lights (or similar) to the ones in the top rated posts. Looking for some cool strobe/ diffraction/ laser lights
