How much should I budget for a gaming laptop?
Are gaming laptops louder than regular laptops?
How important is keyboard quality in a gaming laptop?
I’m diving into the world of gaming laptops for the first time and I’m in need of one that can handle both work tasks and running the latest games smoothly. After researching various brands, the Lenovo brand has stood out to me, both in terms of affordability and aesthetics. Could anyone offer recommendations on the best Lenovo gaming laptop that strikes the right balance between budget and performance? I’ve also gathered a list here so you can be able to see the specs. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hello, I'm interested in buying a gaming laptop, and I'd like to ask, in your opinion/experience, what is the best graphics card (maybe you can rank them) and CPU (are AMD better than Nvidia?) that exist right now? My budget is 1000 to 1500 Euro/USD. I've heard about the Nvidia 4090, but that seems to be for top-tier computers and is really expensive.
Furthermore, are there any known performance, battery, or speaker issues with any of the 2022,2023,2024 Legion series, Ideapad, LOC, Legion 5 Pro, Legion Pro, or Legion Slim models that I should avoid?
I've also seen that many come with FreeDos, is that better (to install an OS other than Windows but at the same time have the best performance and all the drivers installed)?
According to this article, Lenovo Legion is the #1 gaming laptop brand. https://apple.news/AMYMLTPY8QDKtYyhAvadWjQ. In many ways I find that surprising, but having owned Legion laptops I fully understand the ratings. I have been impressed with the Pro 5I I bought a year ago and I know it is a solid laptop, especially for the price I paid for it. One of my favorite features is that I can use a 100 watt charger when not gaming so I don’t have to carry the massive brick.
I also think that their criteria is different than many others. They are not just looking at pure power, they are looking at value, reliability and customer support.
A few of my thoughts:
I wouldn’t expect Alienware laptops to be rated near the bottom. They blame Dell support for their poor rating. I have always heard good things about Alienware, I just usually avoid them because they are expensive.
They rate Gigabyte relatively high, however they also mention the reason it isn’t higher is that it is basically unusable on battery. I guess that makes sense, gaming laptops really aren’t designed for gaming on battery. However, I like having a laptop that is usable for things other than gaming.
HP Omen is always ranked low. Here I always thought of them as a strong competitor to the Legion, maybe because stores like Best Buy always carry them.
Asus and MSI are other high ranked machines. I have always heard good things about their gaming laptops.
