Buying new high-end lenovo for work, travel and leisure
You're practically left with P1 as p16 and others have numpads. I have p1G5 and i really like it, but now I'm looking for a 14" or 13" thinkpad for carrying around. P1G5 is kinda heavy and clunky. )) More on reddit.com

What is Lenovo's build quality like?
I saw on a previous post that Lenovo is the 4th best laptop brand up 11 places from 2015 according to Laptop Mag, but I was hoping to hear some real world experiences with their laptops. Thanks in advance, Dan. P.S. If anyone has any suggestions for other laptops to look for up to around £700 please feel free to post. ... Lenovo's ThinkPad series business ... Looking to buy a Lenovo business laptop:
X1 Carbon is Intel only, for all generations. The new 12th gen uses the new Intel Ultra chips, but I'd still choose AMD over it for now. If you like the x1 carbon which is a 14in then you'll love the T14s, which falls into the same weight category. The T14s + Ryzen 7 + 32GB LPDDR + LP 400nit display is the way to go. Fast and snappy, and great battery life. The AMD has a built in 780m iGPU which is really nice and scales with the system memory - so definitely get the 32GB. You can snag these for under $900 with a coupon stack. The 400nit LP display is an important upgrade - great for battery life and its brighter than the stock 300nit screen which is not enough. Stay away from any screens with privacy filter, they suck. The P series is more or less the T series with some different options. A little better performance on paper depending on the configuration - especially if you need 64gb. But beyond that, you're not going to notice the difference performance wise - but you will observe a slight decline in battery performance. I think all things considered the P series is nice because it won't attract thumbprints as easy as the T series which uses the traditional thinkpad casing. You can't go wrong with a t14s or p14s, just a matter if you want better battery life or less thumbprints - and of course that extends to 16in models too. But if battery life is a concern 14in is the way to go unless you're okay with having a USB battery brick that supports the needed input wattage of the laptop and PD support. 45% coupon at Lenovo: THINKBIGDEALS + $100 newsletter signup coupon + $100 Amex reward should really get you a good deal. Also suggest the Premier Plus 3 year warranty which covers accidental damage. You get priority support and Lenovo can't claim CID (customer induced damage) they try to push on most claims...especially if you're laptop is a couple years old when the issue happens. The stock basic warranty are absolute garbage - you have to send in your laptop, potentially delayed, just to find out it's CID. More on reddit.com

Where do I buy a Lenovo laptop?
Lenovo laptops can be bought directly from the company's official website, but that isn't your only option. Many digital retailers sell Lenovo laptops on their platforms. However, ensure the website is legitimate before making a purchase. Which Lenovo Laptop Is Best for Students?

While we often recommend students consider a MacBook Air for school, or a Dell Premium laptop if they're set on Windows, Lenovo has comparable Yoga and Slim models that would serve much of the same function. Likewise, the new ThinkPad X9 series seems like a shoo-in for college campuses, being directly aimed at Apple's thin-and-light titans.

If you're on a tighter budget or your coursework doesn't require such a well-equipped machine, Lenovo's IdeaPad line would serve you better. This series provides budget-to-midrange systems for basic workloads and entertainment needs.

Finally, Lenovo's ThinkPad and ThinkBook lines feature laptops with top-end processing hardware and even professional-grade parts for academic workloads in computer science, software engineering, and media editing, to name a few. (High-end engineering work is best reserved for workstation models in the ThinkPad P line.)

Which Series of Lenovo Laptops Is Best?

Because Lenovo makes every one of its laptops with a specific set of customers in mind, we can't point you to one line of Lenovo laptops as the absolute "best" for every situation. With that in mind, we've listed and covered each of Lenovo's laptop series below to help you decide which type of Lenovo laptop is best for you.

Lenovo's conventional laptops include ThinkPads (business laptops), ThinkBooks (small-business work machines), and IdeaPads (general-use laptops). Gaming machines fall under Lenovo's Legion (higher-end) and LOQ (budget) lines, while 2-in-1 hybrids come in Yoga (premium) and Flex (budget) varieties. First, let’s look at the laptops that started it all: the ThinkPads.

I work with construction blueprints plans, excel, Word and Teams even though I don’t do any advanced video editing or anything like that. Pretty much just run construction management and ERP softwares. And YouTube or Spotify and multiple windows open simultaneously.

My 3 options are:

  1. Lenovo P16 Gen 1 or Gen 2 (best one)

  2. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Gen 11)

  3. Wait for any upcoming laptop that could be better? If so, when?

Thank you guys.

r/thinkpad on Reddit: Buying new high-end lenovo for work, travel and leisure
December 22, 2023 -

Hi everyone, I am in the process of upgrading my `Carbon X1 Gen 6` laptop and I am trying to decide between a `P1` and `P16`. I work with python and nodejs WebAPI backend services and databases, mostly running several such in docker container all at once. Additionally I run Chrome with 30+ tabs and slack add to that dbeaver, postman and a plethora of other chat apps (discord, viber, etc). I intend to travel for work and workations and spend my free time with the laptop as well. In general I move around physically a lot with my laptop and I have a toddler at home, so sturdiness of my old Carbon was very welcome! I also intend to spend my free time on laptop so it should handle small data science model applications and modest games like minecraft, Starcaft2 or Hollow Knight smoothly.

I love trackpoint, I love the 180+ reclination angle, I love lots of ports that are present in lenovos, I don't care about speaker quality, I do not care about overall screen quality, but I do need a bright screen for working in natural day light situations, touch screen would be a nice to have for those brainstorming sessions with colleagues online, I avoid numpad and non-centered keyboards. I use Linux/Windows dual boot. I would love to have a 15" laptop, but this seems to be not an option in lenovo. Weight is important in that "the bigger they are, the harder they fall". I would like to buy a laptop that I can use comfortably for more than 4 years, so I need to strike a balance between beefiness and sturdiness.

There is no budget limit.

August 15, 2016 - Simply put lenovos are reliable and simple the best laptops for business and really anything now, but if I buy a laptop for school and stuff I would buy a thinkpad solely for the fact that they have amazing battery life my t440 manages like 9-10 hours on its 2 batteries with a i5 4300u it uses less energy than a damn lightbulb.
