Best motherboard to go with the i7 12700k?
What motherboards are compatible with LGA 1700?
What chipset supports i7 12700K?
Is LGA 1700 better than AM5?
I am trying to build a sick gaming PC (my first ever build, have ordered custom before but want to built it myself now).
I am getting very stuck and overwhelmed by the amount of information out there (I am not very tech savvy at all, I can understand the basics and need to research most other things).
So, I currently have 12700k and 3080ti(MSI). I am not going to be over clocking.
Motherboard - was looking at z690s (MSI Carbon in particular) but I am seeing loads of xmp issues and failure to boot issues etc with all brands MSI, Asus, Gigabyte. Have these issues been dealt with recently through bios updates etc or should I be weary and go for another motherboard? Are there any better ones than z690 for the specs I have and with less issues/trouble?
RAM - I wanted ddr5 (Corsair was my intended) but now I am seeing lots of comments saying it’s best to wait for it to mature as it can cause lots of issues (boot looping etc.) Is this correct and should I get ddr4 instead then? Will I still get maximum performance with ddr4?
Cooler - Aio or air? I don’t have a budget so I’m leaning towards Aio. Thinking arctic freezer 360 or kraken z73. Lian Li Galaghad 360 is also an option but got the impression that arctic and z73 are better. Thoughts? Anything you would recommend over this?
Anything else I should consider? Any tips/ recommendations?
I would appreciate any help at all. Especially regarding the motherboard as I am really stuck with this. And if an issue occurs I won’t know where to start (i.e. editing ram voltages whatever that means) so I would really like to avoid that.
It depends on what you want to spend. I'm leaning toward a DDR4 board from Gigabyte the Z690 Aorus Elite AX DDR4 . If you want DDR5 then I think the ASUS ROG Strix Z690-E Gaming WIFI is great but expensive. DDR5 is at least twice the cost of DDR4 and only a very few percent faster, most people will probably go with a DDR4 board and spend more on a GPU or SSD.

Currently trying to upgrade my cpu so I can run games at a better frame rate. The i3 I have now is really showing it's age and is at or close to a 100% usage when playing newer games.
The new i7-12700k seems really good for the buck but my motherboard doesn't have the right socket. What board would you guys recommend?
My specs:
Mb: gigabyte z370p d3
Gpu: radeon amd rx5600xt
Cpu: i3-9100F
Ram: D416Gb 2400-16 Vengeance LPX (2x8gb)
SSD: Adata SSD 256GB XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro
Case: Corsair Carbide 175R RGB
Case fans: Corsair Fan AF120Q (x3)
Cpu cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo v2
Any tips are much appreciated! If I missed anything please let me know.
Hello everyone, I currently have an rtx 3080, with a Ryzen 5 3600x. I find that its been bottlenecking in a lot of games and the performance really isn't what I expected even at 1440p. I see some benchmarks on YouTube with almost a 25-50% fps increase! Especially in games like war zone. I decided to go with intel this time and get the i7 12700k.
What is a motherboard that you all suggest to go with this motherboard that's pretty decently priced, and all around. I also have 32 GB ddr4 ram that I was hoping to continue using, unless if you think the ddr5 ram would be worth the upgrade as well.
Thanks!
