I’m by no means a YouTuber or professional, MUA, but I take makeup application seriously. If I’m going to spend hundreds of dollars to look amazing, I want to make sure I am doing it right lighting-wise too!
I read that natural daylight then LED lighting is best for at-home makeup lighting so I bought LED tape and made a vanity mirror using a round white mirror. It’s essentially a giant ring light! My only worry is that it’s too “cool” at 6000k. I read that 4800-5000k is best for makeup and the only professional lighting that is color balanced is The Makeup Light. I’m not buying that anytime soon.

Does anyone here work with 6000k at home? Is it really that bad/too cool to work with? I felt so accomplished DIYing this mirror but now I worry it’s too blue to get true colors when I’m doing my makeup early in the AM and the sun hasn’t risen!
I may just buy 5000k temp LED light tape and remake the light but man, what a waste. Hoping someone will tell me 6000k is fine!
What’s the best LED light temp for at-home makeup lighting?
How do you light your makeup area?
I use a daylight bulb in a regular ole desk lamp.
