Have a new build and looking for advice on a living room gas fireplace. We are deciding between a 72” kozy heat and a 72” Mendota. The kozy heat quote is about 8500 and the Mendota is 13000. We have chosen a linear fireplace because a TV will be going above the fireplace. We are willing to pay the extra to get the Mendota if it is highly recommended- does anyone have a strong opinion? Thank you.
Hello experts. Building a new house and deciding on a fireplace to go in it. We've settled on a direct-vent gas linear fireplace, ~48", and have a few questions:
-
Between the Crave (Heatilator) and the Mezzo (Heat-N-Glo), what are the differences aside from the included LEDs and back reflective glass on the Mezzo? I see that these two brands are owned by the same company.
-
How high off the floor would you suggest installing a linear fireplace?
-
To get the look of the Primo II (which has two glass panes, instead of one glass pane and a metal mesh), is it in any way possible to replace the outer mesh on a Mezzo with a glass pane?
-
Are there any special considerations/negatives to installing a see-through fireplace that should be accounted for?
-
In any direct-vent fireplace, as it seems like the intake/exhaust tube is connected to the firebox from the exterior of the house (covered by a chimney cap), wouldn't exterior air flow into the firebox when the fire is off, thus adversely affecting your house's temperature? I understand the firebox is sealed from the interior of the house, but it still seems like a cold firebox in winter (or hot in summer) would be a negative. Or, does the chimney cap limit this?
Thanks so much!
