I'm looking for live-action family movies that my 6 (nearly 7)-year-old daughter would enjoy. We watch plenty of animated films and live-action films that feature some sort of talking/human-acting animal. (Her favorites are Corpse Bride, Coraline, Coco, Frozen, and most recently the 1986 version of The Mouse and the Motorcycle). I know she'd like Babe and Paddington, but I'm not looking for something like that.
We recently watched Free Willy (1993), which she loved, as well as Ramona and Beezus (2010). She also really liked Hocus Pocus (1993) and the recent sequel, but I find that there just really aren't that many live-action family films anymore. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. What do you recommend?
Edit: Fantastic recommendations so far. Thanks, everyone. Just to note, we have watched many of the classics together (e.g. Goonies, Labyrinth, The Never Ending Story, Lord of the Rings) and there are a few that I plan to show her (E.T., Willy Wonka, BFG, etc.), but I'd love some recommendations for more recent films (like within the past 5 years) that are the same quality as some of these older films. Thanks again!
My friends are having a sleepover in my condo, and one of them will bring her child. Since we've already seen a bunch of animated films, we're looking for non-animated films to watch. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
edit: she's 8 btw
