Hi - first time posting here.
Looking for recommendation on a keyboard that has similar form factor to Logi K585 (14.5-15in wide, numpad, and somewhat thin), backlit.
I don't think I've ever spent so much time looking for a keyboard before; but once I started looking, I could not believe the number of choices.
RoyalKludge RK96 is perfect size and functionality; though I would like a little thinner and perhaps RGB (but that is not necessarily a need). But it is a front runner for sure.
NuPhy Air96 V2 looks great but it is a bit over my budget (~$80).
Irok FE98Pro looks doable but I know nothing about the brand (and is it really that thin).
Seenda Backlit Multi-Device could be ok but that is even more sketchy (the dimensions don't even add up).
TIA

I've been in the market for a new low profile mechanical keyboard. Years back I had the Logitech G815 and liked it for what it was. Switches were okay, keycaps were meh. I ended up selling it as I wanted something smaller from a full keyboard.
I recently bought the Logitech G515 in tactile and have been using it for 2 weeks now. I like the form factor, the switches, the updated keycaps to PBT. However, there has already been a double clicking problem that has developed on the space bar. I believe I read about that issue before buying it too unfortunately. It happens both in the wireless adapter mode and bluetooth. While it doesn't happen all the time. it's annoying enough that I'm considering returning it and searching for something else.
It was tough for me to choose between the Logitech G915X, Razer Deathstalker v2 pro, or the one I ended up going with the Logitech G515. While I do like the TKL format, some other keyboards I was considering is the NuPhy Air75 v2 and the Lofree Flow 84.
I currently also have a Logitech MX Mini and Keychron Q1 that I was looking to sell to consolidate into one keyboard to use for gaming (windows) and work (mac).
Anyone have any recommendations or advice on how to best proceed?
Edit: I went with the Iquinix mq80 and have really enjoyed it thus far!
Hi, I've just purchased the 70% K3 and I'm looking for a numpad to match. Can anyone recommend a numpad with low-profile keys and a detachable (preferably USB C) cable and/or wireless connection?
Alternatively, if there are no low-profile models out there, can anyone recommend an affordable numpad with RGB? Something like this, with a brand/support to back it up? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/185115664067
This post is sort of a review, but also a "looking for advice" post.
Some background: I am fairly new to mechanical keyboards. I prefer low profile keyboards with quiet switches. I am not the kind of person that wants to spend a lot of money on these things, nor do I really care about trying every switch out there or key cap. I want something comfortable to type on so that I can focus on my work.
Between work as a programmer and a video game hobbyist, I spend too much time on a keyboard. Being a self-taught typist from a young age, I am really bad at touch typing. My left hand is ok, but I have a lot of bad habits with my right. I find myself glancing at the keyboard a bit as I type. Always have, and probably always will.
My first mechanical was a Nuphy Air75 with default switches. I enjoyed the small, compact build, but It turns out that I need a number pad. I really enjoyed the keyboard, and even improved my touch typing and worked on bad typing habits. However, I left it in the car (I would transfer this keyboard to and from work/home) during a scorching summer and the body warped and cracked. Still used it for a while, but eventually the warping got to me. Overall, I really liked it, but I wanted to see what else was out there.
I decided to order a Lofree Lite 100 (recall, I need the num pad) with the silent switches (Hades Silent; It looks like the switches I got are no longer available). Right away, I was disappointed with the cheap plastic feel of the Lofree compared to the Nuphy. I missed the aluminum casing of the Nuphy. The keycaps, while the shine through was a beautiful improvement since I tend to live in dimmed lighting, felt "flighty" or clumsy for some reason. The silent switches were buttery smooth, and a great improvement for me over the default Nuphy switches, but the metal connection pins were thin and easily bent and I bent a few of them; a real PITA to install. The worst part for me though was that the caps had me making way more typing errors, and my typing got slower. While there were some improvements for me over the Nuphy, the Lowfree Lite was just an uncomfortable keyboard to type on for me. I gave it over a year as my only keyboard, and grew to hate it more and more during that time. I never "got used to it".
Giving the Lofree as my only keyboard as a chance for over a year, I recently decided to get a new Nuphy. This time, the Nuphy Air96 v2. I also picked up the Gateron KS-33 Low Profile Silent Red 2.0 switches. I've been typing on this build for about 24 hours now, and I already regret spending so much time with the Lofree. The keyboard feels more solid as I remember, and the keys feel more "present" or stable to type on. I also realized that I missed the options of the back lighting on the Nuphy over the boring lighting options of the Lofree. No shine through keycaps, of course, but I can live without them. The Gateron switches are not as buttery smooth as the silent switches that Lofree offered, and they have a more hollow sound (although quiet sound), but they have nice, thick pins that make them easy to install and nearly impossible to accidentally bend. I like the compact layout of the 96 keys for both the Nuphy and the Lofree.
For people out there who share my preferences or at least understand them, are there other low profile keyboards out there that I should check out? I was looking at the low profile Keychrons, but they look ugly AF. I mean, what is with the Keychron K17 Max QMK Wireless Custom Mechanical Keyboard having two empty key spots? Fugly, but does it type well? What else is out there that is worth looking at?
I type for many hours a day every day, and have been for most of my life. For better or worse, the kinds of keyboards I've become accustomed to (and which I ahve the most muscle memory for, highest WPM and best accuracy) are low profile. For example, I love the typing experience of Lenovo Thinkpads; recent Macbook Airs are really good as well. But for my desktop, my daily driver has been a $12 Amazon Basics keyboard I bought 8 years ago.
I don't know what it is, but it just ticks all the boxes. The keys are slim, travel is just right, the sensitivity is perfect, it's full size without cramping the numpad next to arrow keys (I hate that 'grid' design some keyboards have). Only problem: it finally broke, and Amazon changed the design to one that sucks now.
So now I'm on the question for a keyboard that is (1) low profile, (2) full size with arrow keys and numpad comfortably spaced, and (3) absolutely optimal for typing at high speed (100+wpm) and accuracy. Wired of course! I don't care about RGB, macro keys, noise, price, clickiness, or any bells and whistles.
I've checked out a lot of common recommendations like the NuPhy stuff, Logitech G515 but they fail some of these criteria so I'm hoping there's another weirdo out there like me with a great recommendation I've missed.
Thanks in advance!
Hi
I’m searching for a low profile keyboard with the best quality possible
Budget under 500
Wired or wireless
If possible PBT keycaps if not abs but has to feel good
TKL or 75%
Thanks
I've a keychron k3 for a while and my experience has been grest, not regret my purchase; that was in February. Now I'm curious of the Nuphy, wanted to try it since I need a full keyboard and Nuphy Air96 seems to save me desk space compared to the K5. I'm also in US 🫤, wish there was another way but apparently for now I only can buy it from the nuphy.com website
this is probably not a great suggestion regarding your conditions, but check out the Lofree Flow... the sound is soooo good for some reason
