I've tried nuphy air (nope; couldn't stand the loud slickly switches and typing experience was terrible for me) so I returned it. I have and love the lofree lite. I know you're interested in the flow but I really do like the lofree keyboard; it's such a great typing experience, I changed the keycaps to the nuphy coast twilight and it made the typing experience even better, sounds extra creamy (which I love) and I liked this keyboard so much I went and ordered the 100 in a different colour. I've been in the market for a new low profile mechanical keyboard. Years back I had the Logitech G815 and liked it for what it was. Switches were okay, keycaps were meh. I ended up selling it as I wanted something smaller from a full keyboard.

I recently bought the Logitech G515 in tactile and have been using it for 2 weeks now. I like the form factor, the switches, the updated keycaps to PBT. However, there has already been a double clicking problem that has developed on the space bar. I believe I read about that issue before buying it too unfortunately. It happens both in the wireless adapter mode and bluetooth. While it doesn't happen all the time. it's annoying enough that I'm considering returning it and searching for something else.

It was tough for me to choose between the Logitech G915X, Razer Deathstalker v2 pro, or the one I ended up going with the Logitech G515. While I do like the TKL format, some other keyboards I was considering is the NuPhy Air75 v2 and the Lofree Flow 84.

I currently also have a Logitech MX Mini and Keychron Q1 that I was looking to sell to consolidate into one keyboard to use for gaming (windows) and work (mac).

Anyone have any recommendations or advice on how to best proceed?

Edit: I went with the Iquinix mq80 and have really enjoyed it thus far!

r/keyboards on Reddit: Any low-profile keyboard recommendations?
September 8, 2025 -

I've had a mechanical keyboard for quite a while now, but there was always something about it that bothered me compared to the cheapo membrane keyboard that my parents own: The height of the keys making me have to lift my fingers more than I'd like to.

But I've recently found out that something like a "low profile" mechanical keyboard exists, which seems to be exactly what I need. However, I have trouble finding the right low-profile keyboard.

I would like a keyboard that matches these requirements (roughly in order of importance):

  • Low profile

  • A full keyboard with all the keys, including the TenKeys, like this, ideally with this spacing

  • Mechanical or HE doesn't matter too much to me, as long as it's linear

  • Backlit, but I don't mind if it's RGB or just white

  • I don't care about any lighting profiles; in fact, I'd rather not have to install auxiliary software

  • I also don't care about any clicky-clacky sounds and would want the keyboard as silent as possible

  • Preferably black or at least a dark color

  • Media and/or sound volume keys are not required, but would be nice

  • Preferably a price below โ‚ฌ300

I've been looking for a while, but my searches are surprisingly coming up short. I'm admittedly somewhat of a noob when it comes to keyboards, so maybe I just don't know where to look or what exactly to look for

If anyone could help me out with some recommendations, I'd really appreciate it!

Hey
I don't have much knowledge in the keyboard world so I was looking for some suggestions.
Currently I am using the HP GK100F and honestly it sucks. the keys are way too loud and tall and it just gets in the way of my hands so I'm looking for something softer and rather low profile not like laptop keys but shorter than the basic gaming mechanical keyboards.
I've been eyeing the Logitech G815 but I've heard mixed opinions about it.
So do you guys have any suggestions on a good quality low profile keyboard that gives me a better experience.
also not a big fan of 60% keyboards so 100% would be ideal and I don't care if its wired or not.

I currently have the lofree 100 lite and I like the keyboard, but I constantly mistype on it and I can't find the arrow keys consistently, causing some significant frustrations. I switched the stock keycaps for some Nuphy ones, but that has still not solved the issues with mistyping and arrow key locating.

Given this, I was thinking of transitioning to a full-size keyboard with more width between the keys and an easier time finding the arrow keys. What are some good contenders for this criterion?

Hello! Iโ€™ve been looking for a gaming keyboard for my desk. Any recommendations, suggestions, or opinions are welcome. Thank you very much! :)

๐Ÿ“ŒMinimal Requirements

  • Budget: Around $200 USD (give or take)

  • Full RGB support

  • White keyboard (for my desk color palette)

  • At least 65%, but TKL or 100% will be my best option

  • Linear or tactile switch + the quieter the better (I have other people living in the house)

  • USB-C port for charging/connecting

  • Low profile! (duh)

โœจExtra Preference

  • Hot swappable switches/keys are a plus

  • Weight doesnโ€™t matter, it will be sitting on my desk 24/7

  • Shine-through keycaps are a plus

  • Primarily used for gaming, but great typing experience is a HUGE plus

  • Having 1000Hz polling rate or more is a plus

  • Wired/wireless doesnโ€™t matter, but wireless is more preferred

  • Mechanical keys preferred

๐Ÿค” My Current Options

  • Logitech G915 X Lightspeed TKL

  • ASUS Falchion RX Low Profile

  • Logitech G515 Lightspeed TKL

๐Ÿ’ป (Extra Info) My Experience With Keebs

  • Quite new to mechanical keyboards / custom keyboards

  • Frequent laptop/apple keys user, switching to low profile keys after 9 months of high profile use (donโ€™t like arm/wrist rests as well)

  • Relatively light typist, does a lot of typing/translation work

  • Causal gamer, plays various games from FPS to RPGs

  • Familiar with linear switches (silent ones too), donโ€™t prefer clicky noise

  • Interested in using tactile switch (never used one before)

  • Small hands, short arms

If there are also cheap alternatives that can be used with white shine-through keycaps, Iโ€™m also open for those options. I also donโ€™t mind all the little bells and whistles (knobs, buttons etc.) as long as it fits all the preferences that are listed above.

Thanks again for your time and I look forward to hear your opinions about it! :)

Height comparison between low profile mechanical keyboards that you can buy (or cant): https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/irt8yt/height_comparison_between_low_profile_mechanical/

I compiled this list of all low profile mech keyboards that I'm aware of at the time of this post because I didn't find one while I was shopping for one and information was scattered. They are categorized by size first then sorted by price. TKL in this case is 80%.

I don't have plans right now to add kits, keycaps, switches, cases, etc, only fully assembled keyboards.

If you know of any other LP keyboards feel free to let me know and I'll add it to the list. Hopefully this helps anyone interested.

For anyone new to mechanical keyboards be aware that low profile keyboards, while slim, they lack customizability and there is a overall lack of options compared to standard high profile keycap keyboards. This is because no one is selling standardized keycaps, switches and other parts that would be interchangeable with each other. You will find it difficult to find coloured keycaps. In many prebuilts manufacturers make unique switches meaning you can't change out the switches with something else or find keycaps with stems that will fit the switches.

Edit: [group buy ended on 31/7/20]Current limited time group buy available - MorgRie RKB68 blue and white colourway with Kailh choc red, brown or white for $129

Edit 2: Added Vortex Pok3r V2, Filco Ninja Majestouch Stingray, Klim Dash, MorgRie RKB68 Blue. Added 'coloured keycaps' to notes.

Edit 3: Added Cherry G84-5500, G84-4400, G84-4100, G84-5400, G84-5200, G84-4700, Sharkoon full size, Drevo Joyeuse V1, Gamdias P3, MorgRie 17.

Edit 4: Added Keychron K3, new 75% keyboard available to pre-order.

Edit 5: Having used the Keychron K1 V4 for over a year I can't say I'd personally recommend it long term. Worked well for a year then started breaking in 10 different places.

I used to be a mechanical keyboard enthusiast, but after working in a large office with cubicles I went to a Mac Magic Keyboard and abandoned mechanicals.

I recently discovered Keychron and feel like I'd like to give mechanicals another try.

Wondering what you would recommend with these requirements?

  • Wireless

  • Low-Profile (I am very used to the very slim Mac Magic Keyboard)

  • 100% Full-size (or close)

  • VERY Quiet a strong preference

  • Mac compatible

  • Preferably something that has a solid feel to it, not too "plastic-y" feeling

I am not super strict on budget.

Currently leaning toward the K5 but I'm not fully clear even on the difference between K5, K5 Max, K5 Pro. Also it seems the "Mechanical Red" switches would be the most quiet.

I also saw some recommendations on buying separate Gateron silent keyboard switches, but not sure if that is overkill and what switches would work for a low-profile keyboard.

Do you prefer normal or low profile mechanical keychron keyboards? And why?

Normal profile. Normal profile literally has hundreds of different options for customization including switches (linear, tactile, and clicky switches with different feeling and unique force curves), a huge selection of different keycaps in a multitude of profiles, as well as a selection of different stabilizer options and miscellaneous ways to customize your board that are not available for low profile boards. On the other end of the spectrum, low profile only has a handful of options for different switches and keycaps. If you want to get into customization at all, then normal profile is the way to go. If you want a portable keyboard that is small and easy to pack and will keep it (mostly) stock, then low profile is probably what you're looking for.

Low profile voice here. I don't do any customization and the low profile keyboards are just more comfortable to type in my opinion. I have a K4SE + wooden wrist pad, but, after many months, I prefer the Nuphy Air75 and the K5SE. The K4 isn't bad at all, don't misunderstand, but... a low profile is just simpler and better. Simpler because you don't waste time with wrist pads and better because the sound is more satisfying, the look is much more modern, the feel is better, the size is better, the weight is better, etc. Of course, that's my opinion. In case, just go with brown switches, don't bother with the red ones. I bought both low profiles with red ones and exchanged them later, because the linear ones felt strange. Save yourself the trouble of pulling out hundred switches. Low profile is quieter anyway. Also the PBS keycaps are nicer than the ABS ones, especially in terms of sound, but also how it feels. Therefore, K3 Pro or K5 Pro is the best choice depending on the size.

r/keyboards on Reddit: Seeking Recommendations for a Low-Profile, Backlit Mechanical Keyboard
April 4, 2024 -

Hello there!

I'm on the hunt for a new mechanical keyboard and thought this would be the perfect place to seek advice and recommendations. Here are the specifics of what I'm looking for:

  • Switch Preference: Low-profile switches, with a preference for brown switches. Size: A 96% layout is ideal for me, though I'm willing to consider 75% keyboards as well.

  • Keycaps and Layout: Backlit keycaps are essential, as I often work late and need the visibility in low-light conditions. I prefer the ISO-DE layout, but I'm open to ANSI layouts if I can easily reconfigure the keys via software and have the appropriate keycaps for it.

  • Connectivity: Wireless functionality is important to me, as I need the ability to easily switch between Mac and Windows environments without hassle.

  • Budget: My budget is around 150โ‚ฌ, but there's some flexibility to stretch this if the keyboard is a perfect fit.

I've been eyeing the NuPhy Air 96 as a potential candidate because it ticks most of my boxes. However, I haven't been able to find backlit ANSI-DE keycaps for it, which has been a stumbling block.

I had also considered Keychron keyboards, but I've been deterred by reports of a significant delay (5-10 seconds) when the keyboard wakes up from sleep. These observations come from multiple YouTube videos and blog posts. If anyone has insights on a fix or workaround for this issue, I'm all ears and willing to reconsider.

Given these requirements and preferences, I'd love to hear your suggestions and experiences, especially if you've come across or used keyboards that meet these criteria. Additionally, if you have any tips on where to find backlit ANSI-DE keycaps, that would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help and recommendations!

Hello

I am creating a brand new setup after moving back to the UK and I'm looking for some recommendations for a keyboard.

  • I would really like low profile, coming from using the Logitech G815 I don't feel like I can go back, really enjoyed it for typing -Mechanical is preferred

  • Full sized as I like a num pad

  • Silent switches something like a silent red or equivalent

  • Under ยฃ100 but cheaper the better (so the Logitech G815 is not an option again)

  • Wired

Just looking for the best keyboard with the criteria above for the best price that's suitable for mixed typing and gaming. Some that I've been looking at are Razer either the Deathstalker (on sale I can find it only just within my budget but mixed reviews on the wireless however I would be going for wired anyway still not sure if it's recommended though) and Ornata for the price but it's not mechanical.

Thanks for your advice in advance!

Hi all,

Major update edit: cherry have a bunch, looking for feedback on these in addition to other suggestions. Thanks again to everyone!

Chasing a new keyboard, and I just... can't find anything that isn't a fully custom thing (or reddragon/RK). Need some help finding it if it exists:

Edit 2: Full layout, not "all keys but compact", not 99.99999%, how hard is it to get literally "THE STANDARD" of a thing? Low profile, Mechanical (tactile), 100% keyboard, No macro keys on the left (I can deal with inline with the f keys), Not a keychron. Edit: not corsair either, trash that breaks USB drivers.

Had a k5 se, loved it, it broke about 14 months after purchase so I had a look at why (12 month warranty............. ..) - the enter key wears away the PCB over the traces and it dies. Whelp, now I know what was happening with those dead keychron returns I saw! Hence, no more keychron.

Logitech 915/815 would be great if I could get the numpad and not the g keys, but I'm one of those freaks that locates my hand to the edge of my board, so these destroy me.

I would like to spend less than $200 Aud, but I'd it's 300-350 I'd still consider it, and anything above that would get wishlisted / ebay searched.

I can see people asking logitech for this for Luke a decade and logitech do their typical ig ore everyone thing.

Help?

Hello, I've read some posts regarding low profile keyboards.

I bought a Logitech MX Keys in 2021 and some of the keys are starting to feel strange. One of the keycaps is moving (not entirely falling but almost every time I press that key).

I do like how this keyboard feels but now I am looking to replace this since soon.

I am looking for a low profile keyboard with 100% the size (I require to have the numbers on the side).

Here are the requirements:

  • Low profile

  • 100% or close to that (It must have the number pad the one that is on the right side of the keyboard)

  • It will be used for work so no gaming involved.

  • To be able to properly use it wireless (that it works without disconnecting since I've read that some keyboard are laggy or have connecting issues).

  • To be able to work with Mac, Linux.

  • That the lights illuminate the keycaps (I've read that some have lights but don't illuminate the keycaps so I do not really understand the reasoning behind that.

I might end up buying a new Logitech MX Keys S, but wanted to know if any of you had a good recommendation. I've seen this ones:

LoFree, Nuphy, Keychron
  • Keychron K5 Max

This seems like a good idea but I've read that there had been some lag and some connection issues and also I've read that the light apparently does not shine through the keycaps (which I find it strange).

  • LoFree - Flow Lite100

  • NuPhy Air96 V2NuPhy Air96 V2

Please do let me know if you have any other good recommendations

Right now I'm using a Ducky2 with browns. It's a beautiful keyboard, but

A) I want to get these wires out of my life
B) I don't like having to use a wrist rest. I used to have the logitech solar keyboard, it was flat enough I didn't need anything. I wouldn't be able to do that with my ducky.

In terms of what I'm looking for

A) I do some gaming. Not a ton, but I do play some Dota2 and Age of Empires 2, and I don't want to lose keystrokes because of a weak signal. Yes I know wired is the best...but can wireless be good enough and do I need a dongle or bluetooth?

B) Would mechanical low profile keys be as flat as the thin chiclet keyboards out there? I'm amenable to optical chiclet keys as well, being able to drop the wrist rest is more important than having pretty keys (though I do appreciate nice keycaps)

C) An aluminum frame seems nice? I don't know, probably not that important, but is a nice to have.

D) Bonus points if it comes w/ a mouse and they can use the same charger, but I imagine I'll be buying that seperately
