I have #32 omcan hand crank grinder, bought it from a restaurant supply place. It works great, and is definitely not breaking anytime soon. All hand crank grinders are absolutely awful for stuffing though, I was skeptical when people said it, tried it 5 or 6 times, and every single time it was a horrible experience. Just.. dont. Get a manual top fed sausage stuffer, I have a 10lb one also from omcan. First time trying it I laughed for twenty minutes at how effortless and perfect the quality of the stuffing was compared to trying to use the hand grinder to stuff. (Yes, I did do a search and saw nothing in the last year!)
I'm an American living in Kathmandu, Nepal and want a meat grinder because I don't really trust what type of ground meat I'm eating or really know where it comes from and because I want to start making my on andouille for my family and to pass out to friends.
I've been looking around on Amazon and found a couple #10s (like this one), but would also be interested in a #22 (maybe the Omcan Cast Iron 22). So far the reviews are pretty mixed on the ones I've been looking at and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good place to buy a hand crank grinder that can double as a sausage filler. Not too worried about price, more about it not breaking after 5 uses. Is Amazon going to be my best bet? Is there a secret store that people use to buy their hand grinders? Unfortunately, an electric grinder isn't ideal in Nepal.
I'm obviously pretty new to all this, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am considering getting a meat grinder. However, I don't want to break the bank either so I was considering manual ones. But, I'm wondering if it would be better to just save up and buy an electric one instead of getting a manual one soon.

If you ask me (and you kind of did) i would find a used manual grinder. That way you will find out how often you will actually use it, and in the meantime they are way easier and quicker to clean after a small batch. Depending on what your intended use is, keep in mind that you can use a food processor to chop meat too. That's my preferred way to make burger meat.

It depends on how much volume you're going to put through it. If you're going to do large preps, then electric. Smaller amounts, a hand grinder. Also, the electric ones aren't as easy to use (tend to have smaller holes to "feed" the unground ingredients)and clean. Hand fed had a larger feeder. Finally, electric ones don't last as long as the old manual ones do. An electric one lasts 5-40 years whereas I'm still using a hand cranked grinder that belonged to my great grandparents. I would get on eBay and see if I could find an old one.

Yes. If you only do small quantities get a kitchen aid mixer with a grinding attachment. That way you can still use it for bread making and cakes and shit. If you are going to be doing more serious work like sausages get a dedicated machine.
