What brand medication is best?
My endo said just pick one and stick to it. There aren't any that are better.

I've had to take Synthroid (levothyroxine) my entire life. There were definitely times when I thought "I don't need these. I'll just stop." During those events, I felt fine. Constipation? Need more fiber. Sleeping more? Don't stay up so late. More depressed than usual? Maybe I need to up my antidepressant. Joints hurt? Take some pain meds and exercise more.
None of my solutions made me feel better in the long run. Constipation was here to stay. No matter when I went to bed, I slept until late morning or early afternoon. I grew frustrated with my depression and it fueled my anxiety. Sure, over the counter pain meds worked... for 6-8 hours. After exercising I felt miserable and slept.
The symptoms of hypothyroidism seem subtle, but left untreated compound. Instead of taking my single pill in the morning, I added more pills to treat my symptoms. When I'd decide that there wasn't any running or ignoring my condition, I'd feel amazingly better in about 2 weeks. No more stiff joints. I wake up refreshed and can actually get out of bed. Slowly I'm less anxious and not constantly breaking down. Constipation, never pretty, feels like a thing of the past.
Hypothyroidism isn't only one symptom. Yes, blood tests show levels, and medications treat those to bring them back to normal range. However, what happens when TSH is unbalanced affects every part of the body. Skin, metabolism, joints, ability to regulate body temperature, mental health, digestion, etc. are all affected.
Taking one pill a day to correct levels leaves nothing to lose and everything to gain. Sure, hair may fall out, but it's typically not on the level of suddenly having bald patches. Hair will grow back, and healthier than it was.
I suggest taking the medication for about 6 weeks (the amount of time to evaluate how the dose is working for you), then revisiting your doctor.
