I don’t shop for clothes that often but when I do I’d rather try things on in person than guess my size and deal with returns online.

I feel like there’s no good stores downtown anymore for basic clothes. Uniqlo, Gap, and Abercrombie all gone. Never been a fan of anything Macy’s carries and Nordstrom Men’s section outside of shoes is pretty lackluster too.

Not to be rude but I don’t think people were going to recommend LV or Zara when you say you like Carhartt (lol). Check out Filson in Jackson Square, Todd Snyder or Buck Mason in Hayes Valley

I highly recommend looking at the various vintage shops in Haight-Ashbury. Relic Vintage, 2nd Street, Wasteland, Held Over, Blue Bin, etc. Lots of brands represented, including some workwear. Mission: Darkside Initiative on Valencia carries Carhartt WIP. Aggregate Supply is close by and has a small but good non-workwear selection. Self Edge has a great selection of denim. No Shop has a great but pricy vintage selection. Evan Kinori is further south and is NOT workwear at all but one of the best small designers in the US. Taylor Stitch has somewhat dated cuts but good quality for the price. Hayes: APC and Todd Snyder both do elevated basics, but not really workwear. Buck Mason is not my cup of tea personally, but is a bit cheaper. Reliquary and Cotton Sheep both focus on Japanese fashion. Industry of All Nations has $40 t-shirts that are actually worth it. Others: 45R, Presidio Post, Filson, Schott, AB Fits, Standard and Strange (Berkeley), Goodwill Boutique (West Portal)
