Hi, I'm looking to buy a surface laptop which is not an ARM based as I'll be using it to do mainly Business Analysis work like running Power BI, Tableau and other related apps. It's just that I need a powerful yet budget laptop.

I've done a lot of research but still can't decide. So I like to use your expert experiences and opinions.

I am looking for a replacement for my HP Elitebook 14 inch 840. Use: outlook, word, pdf, browsing and (trying out) ChatGPT and other AI tools. Although that is probably also possible with Snapdragon, I'm afraid of compatibility problems. So I prefer to be on the safe side and go for Intel.

Wishes: larger screen than 14 inches, but in a small housing, max 350 mm x 240 mm. Otherwise thin and light. My HP has a matte screen which gives no reflection at all. So I'm very afraid that all other screens do give annoying reflection, despite the fact that they claim to be an "anti glare" or "anti reflective".

After a long search and a tons of Youtube reviews, I ended up with the Surface Laptop 7 for Business 15 inch with Intel Core Ultra. This costs $ 2600 (in the Netherlands EUR € 2700). So a lot of money.

Similar laptops I've found:

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition 15-inch costs $1400. That's more than $1000 difference. Only difference is that the Lenovo has 16GB of RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy Book5 pro 16 inches and with an OLED screen (!) is $ 1450. Again, a difference of $ 1000. Again, 16GB of RAM instead of 32 on the Surface.

Is it just me or is the Microsoft Surface 7 for Business extremely overpriced? I am very curious about your thoughts.

Ok so I am close to pulling the trigger on the 15", 32Gb ram, I7, 1TbHDD surface laptop for business (intel) but the thing comes in at $4k Canadian (If I include a medium level warranty). I have a surface laptop 2 that I LOVE but it's old in the tooth.

I have a small business so $4k is a LOT to drop on a laptop so I really need to do my due dilligence on alternatives. What I do like about Microsoft products in the build quality etc. I have tentaiviely looked at ASUS but I am really out of touch with the top end laptop market

NOTE I do a fair amount of data modeling and simulations so i need a performance machine (not worried about lightweight, I need something speedy).

I have done a bit of research but there is so much out there, it's hard to know what is comparable. Cheers all!!

I feel like we have pretty basic needs/wants and curious what everyone prefers (HP,Dell, Lenovo). Curious if we should get external GPU - seen issues with 2 external monitors and teams videos.

iR camera and/or fingerprint (WHFB)

Wants

Touch

Would value any input good bad or otherwise around what model machines you have experience with.

*some opinions in my industry about lenovo so if all the same may lean towards HP/Dell
