IT guy here. Based on my experience, if you want something that is high quality, look to the higher end of Plantronics, Jabra or Sennheiser. If you want something comfortable, look at the stuff geared toward call centers/sales people who are on the phone all day long. With that said, none of those are going to be cheap. I personally hate wireless headsets when dealing with stuff for work. I would rather deal with the cable than worry about a bad connection or dead battery. I did have an ISP tech come in with an AfterShokz headset (bone conducting), which seemed to work well in our server room (lots of fan noise). Maybe look at their stuff. In a noisy environment you may still need to use earplugs. I just looked up the Voyager 5200 and it looks to be around $115, which is a lot cheaper than I though it would be. If that is outside your price range your going to want to look at a wired headset (which might be tough to find in that style) or an off brand. Everything wireless that I could recommend is going to be at or above that price point, including some of the wired stuff. Also one of the reasons over the head, over the ear, dual ear (maybe not stereo) headsets are popular in call centers is because they are comfortable (head strap supports most of the weight) and help to block out background noise making it easier to hear your conversation. Have you considered a set of earbuds until you can save enough for a nice wireless headset? I really like the Samsung Galaxy S7 style earbuds and they can be had for around $5/pair. I hate to admit this, but I've been using a Plantronics 5200 UC with my iPhone and PC for years, and I must admit it is absolutely phenomenal. The mic noise reduction and even wind reduction is unbelievable. I use it on busy city streets, in the car, on the train or bus, and the person I'm calling thinks I'm at my desk. Bluetooth range is excellent; I can go upstairs and pour a cup of coffee without losing the call. I wish Shure made this product. $115 is a steal; I think I paid $150. Bite the bullet, buy one, and you will never go back. Tip: They are moderately comfortable, but I found some aftermarket earphone sleeves on Amazon that improve the comfort.

What's the Difference Between Bluetooth Headsets and Headphones?

Stereo headphones aren't just for listening to music; they also make calls, often quite well. So, if you're thinking about some wireless headphones to rock out to, you might not need a separate Bluetooth headset. Remember that stereo headphones can sometimes be bulky and might not block distracting environmental noises competently.

By contrast, the stereo headsets in this roundup are lighter and often have boom mics that easily isolate your voice. We compare the two options more decisively in our roundup of the best headsets and headphones for your home office.

The Best Bluetooth Headsets We've Tested for 2026 | PCMag
How Much Should You Spend on a Bluetooth Headset?

The sweet spot for a mono Bluetooth headset is around $100, and if you shop around, you can often find discounts that lower the price slightly. A quality stereo headset generally runs between $150 and $300. The headsets in this roundup are on the high end of that price range because we focused on the absolute best-performing devices for people who rely on their headsets all day.

You can often find a decent (or even excellent) headset for under $50 because they tend to remain in retail channels for a long time after the manufacturer discontinues them. Cheaper Jabra, Motorola, and Poly headsets work fine; they just aren't up to the performance standards of the more expensive category leaders. Typically, they are a bit clunkier and don't offer as effective noise cancellation, but then again, you aren't paying a premium for them.

May 31, 2022 - In 2020 I purchased a budget mpow branded mono headset with mic (headband style) for £20 on promotion then bought a second set as a spare as liked it so much Mpow brand seems to be entirely delisted from Amazon UK so this is a different model for illustration only: Amazon product ASIN B07M5XP4VK In 3.5mm cable mode there is zero background noise. In Bluetooth mode (connected to my ancient Samsung Note 4 for disclaimer purposes) there is no background hiss for myself nor the other caller.
