Sorry if this has been flogged to death, but I figure it’s good to keep the discussion up-to-date!
I’ve recently picked up a 14700k and I’m wondering which motherboards are the way to go, or rather, which ones to avoid. Eyeing off the Z790 chipset.
Budget is $500 AUD, but would prefer not to spend any more than I have to.
Thanks in advance.
Does i7-14700K support DDR5?
What motherboard to get with 14700K?
What socket does the i7-14700K use?
I’m thinking a board that is z790. But interested in the opinions on the best overall value price wise vs features that are out there. I’m migrating from a 6th gen i7 laptop with a mobile 1070gtx gpu. I can’t afford the whole setup atm but want to snag the 14th gen motherboard and gpu and a 13th or 12th gen cpu during the Black Friday sales. I’ll grab the gpu later or something super cheap like a 3060 in the interim. I figure getting the 14th gen capable mobo that is backward compatible with the 12th and 13th gen cpus will give me the best upgrade path capable build.
Hi
Busy building a new pc and haven't done that in ages so not sure on the new things that are out but I've narrowed it down to getting a 14th gen i7 14700f and the 3 motherboard choices i have available from the place i'm buying that's in my price range are these :
MSI B760 Gaming Plus WiFi DDR5 ATX Motherboard
or
MSI MAG B760M Mortar DDR5 mATX Motherboard
or
MSI Z790-S01
which do you think would be best? its gonna be a gaming pc , no over clocking and stuff like that and planning on using this cooler if that makes a difference. DeepCool GAMMAXX AG620 BK ARGB Dual-Tower CPU Cooler. Ive read they run hot so figured a better cooler then stock would be helpful
any advice would be appreciated and thank you in advance
I need a temporary motherboard that can fit ddr5 and intel 14 14700 gen pricing if possible 125 usd and below if not 150usd max. The only models I have found is H610M chipset. I have other requirements but I guess by now newer motherboards probably have these included: m2 2280 4.0, pcie16 4.0, 3 USB and 1 USBC. I have a retail key for Windows so that should be no issue either.
Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Extra info: I need another temporary motherboard because I have another motherboard (2 weeks old) but I need to send that for RMA and I intend to use that when I get it back.
I know I should have gone for AMD, but I have problem multitasking with just phone and comparing motherboards and went with what I was familiar with in my old build before it died.
