Hey, I'm intending to upgrade my gaming pc and buy the i9 cpu https://www.amazon.de/Intel-i9-13900K-Desktop-Prozessor-P-Kerne-BX8071513900K/dp/B0BG67ZG5R/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=intel+i9+14900k&qid=1679738617&s=computers&sr=1-1
Watched multiple videos and they said its the best cpu.
But I have no idea about a motherboard that fits the cpu. I don't know anything about motherboards and can't find useful guides on which one to buy for the 13900k.
So what would be the best motherboard to get? I'd also want it to have 64gb ram options, 128gb would be even better (but I know its overkill).
Would appreciate help so much! :)
Recently, in summer, i made a post here, asking what to buy, i9 or ryzen 9, if i want to keep my ddr4 ram. So, i decided that i would buy i9 cause it supports ddr4 ram. (Should've bought ddr5 ram back then...). So, i need help with motherboard. What is the most safe one on the market?

Hey everybody,
I hope this is the right sub for it, if not apologies!
I am looking into building a new PC in December and have been a bit out of the loop this year. I usually follow up on hardware and watch various YouTube-videos, but I am a bit stumped what mainboard to get, to be honest.
Right now I have i9-9900k OC to ~5Ghz with an MSI Z390 (forgot which exact one tbh) and I was happy with MSI more or less, however, it kept installing this damn NAHIMIC Soundstuff that messed with my sound card. And it took ages to get rid of it completely. Do you know if the NAHIMIC stuff is gone with the new mainboards?
Right now I am thinking of getting the ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-F or E (unsure what the difference is). Or one from AORUS.
But I honestly am unsure which brand is best and what to look out for. I for example haven't read up on DDR5 yet fully and its Latency Times.
Budget-wise I can go up to 700 for a mainboard and am looking for OC, Raid, DDR5 support and a slot for my 3090 (not upgrading that yet) and for my dedicated sound card.
Guys I need motherboard for i9 13900k and I want to use 4 sticks of 7200 16gb ram with xmp enabled and without any issues and instability I wanted the tog z790-e gaming wifi first but seem does have ra. instability issues and problems and even usb c header problem recommend me something good plss something that don't fry my everything and going for 4080 and I wanna use corsair dominator platinum 2× 7200 32GB (2×16)
Why not "cheap out" on the motherboard and go for something like the Tomahawk, that's one of the best VRMs on a $250 motherboard, overkill for the 13900K, great IO and internal header options.
Also go with a normal 2x 2x16GB 6400 CL32 kit (That might not run at XMP at all with 4 sticks, and you might need to reduce it to either 6200 or 6000MT/s), and it's around the same money of a 6000 CL30 kit.
That's enough to start looking at a RTX 4090, that's something that will get you more performance without having to worry about stability all the time.
I don't see a single reason to buy expensive RAM, an expensive motherboard, just to have to run everything at lower speeds. 2 sticks of 16GB is the capacity you need to run speeds higher than 6400/7200, 4 sticks will have issues going over 6000 even if you are extremely lucky. I wouldn't waste money on expensive motherboard and RAM.
Also, if you are playing at 1440p or 4K, get a cheaper Intel i7-13700K, the Tomahawk, the 6400 CL32 RAM, and grab a RTX 4090, not worth spending more on an i9, when you can get a much better GPU, and actually get extra performance.
I love my Z790 Aorus Master, online downside was only 4 SATA ports, I use 7 SATA devices 🤣. Upside was a massive back up, 5 internal m.2's and no loss of SATA ports. With the SATA add-in card I already had and 4 new m.2's I went from 34TB TO 44TB total storage capacity.
What are some good options for intel boards that can hold 2 4090s for 3d modeling and animation. Looking at the z790 classified as number 1. But just need a intel board that can fit 2 4090s on it without blocking power to motherboard components
AFAIK, the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex is one of the best, if not the best, motherboards that money can buy for an Intel i9, but I cannot find it in stock anywhere. I was also looking at the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS PRO X, but I also can't find it in stock anywhere, as I believe it was launched very recently (although this doesn't seem to compare to the Apex, but it's the only "X" motherboard in ATX form factor).
Why do I want the best on that money can buy? Because I do! Because I don't have anything better to do with my money, and I just want "the best", with as much I/O as one will ever need for the foreseeable future.
hi there! i am going to get either a 13900k or 13900ks and i was wonder, what is the best motherboard for each? my gpu is an asus rog strix 4090 oc and i have a 1600w psu which is more than enough, also my processor will be liquid cooled, i will also start out with 64 gb of ram and expand to 128 gb afterwards.
I'm looking to do a build around the 13900k cpu, hoping to get some direction on motherboards. I am set on this particular CPU, will be using it for image processing that greatly benifits from high core counts and gaming as well. I don't need overclocking features. ATX perferred. Hardwired internet, don't need wifi.
GPU - RTX A4500 - currently have this card, may transition to 4080/4090 later
Memory - 64GB - Would like the option to upgrade to 128GB
Storage - 2x2TB m.2 Gen4 - Additional slots would be a bonus, pcie card with m2 also an option
PCIe bifurcation - Not a requirement, but could be a nice feature if I add an m.2 expansion card.
PC parts picker shows 526 compatible boards so I don't even know where to start. What would you all recommend?
I’m getting an i9-13900k and am not sure what motherboard to get Im thinking about the ROG STRIX Z790-F Gaming WiFi or the MSI MPG Z790 Carbon WiFi???
Might overclock in the future.
Neither Z790 Gaming Edge Wifi is more than enough if you dont mind silver color if do then Carbon is a way better board than a Strix F but its an overkill so I would look into Tomahawk or something cheaper but to be honest if you dont mind the money then the Carbon is a way to go.
Just to let you know Carbon is compared to a Strix E version and the Strix F version rival is the Edge one so.
Between these two the Carbon is better in every single way and its not even close its a mind-high end board while the Strix F is a clear mid range one.
PS: Edge is even better than a Strix cause it has 5x M.2 slots compared to 4x on a Strix F and also the Edge only use USB 3.1 4x and 3.2 besides the Strix still use USB 2.0 so but it has start button on board (I am not sure if enyone realy needs it so).
Z790 Aorus Master
better than both of this overpriced mid-range boards
or even better to buy EVGA Z690 Dark currently $400 at newegg
I decided to go with the I9 but I’m curious what motherboards you guys recommend for it. I’m using the PC for music production and gaming
I like the ASUS Rog Hero myself
A mid-range or better Z790 with whatever i/o you need.
If you want a random suggestion, I've had an Asus Prime Z790-A since launch day and it's been rock-solid. If you want more of a gamer aesthetic, there's a Strix version of the board for a little more.

I'm not looking for anything too crazy I don't need 15 USB ports, just needs to be DDR5.
I wanted some budget to mid-range recommendations for motherboards. I am going for an Intel i9 13900K CPU and a Gigabyte AERO OC GeForce RTX 4090 GPU. This is my first PC build, my initial choice for a motherboard was the ASUS Prime Z790-P WIFI but I am aware that there is a risk that this could limit the potential of my other components. I am a complete beginner to all this and my knowledge is very basic! I already know what other components will make up the computer so I am happy to give more info where needed. I could probably go up to £400 for the motherboard but would much prefer around £200-250. Let me know if this is stupid given the other parts.
Hello, I recently purchased a new graphics card (MSI 4070TI Gaming X Trio) and I am looking to upgrade my cpu. If I was to upgrade I would need to also upgrade my motherboard since I have a i7 9700k currently.
What are suggestions on the best motherboard with a price range of 300-400GBP
Hi could you give me some feedback on this build? I'm especially unsure about the motherboard pick. I'm trying to get the best performance out of the 13900K for heavily multithreaded applications. Thank you

I was ask to validate a PC build but kinda got stuck on the question for the motherboard.
As context the PC will be used for a lot of 3D modelling , rendering, game development besides gaming, but will probably not be overclocked. So both CPU and GPU can be expected to work under high load for extended periods of time.
Currently the choice for the motherboard is an ASRock Z790 PG Riptide
Some alternative choices are the MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI, MSI MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI, Z790 GAMING X AX, MSI Tomahawk WIFI Intel Z790
PC is planned to be build by a company which does not offer ASUS boards for some reason so I would exclude them for now.
I tried looking for all sorts of recommendations from reddit, youtube, review sites and so on to get a feeling for the current market (my last PC build was 2 years ago). It is all quite conflicted, with some people saying basically all mid range Z790 boards easily handle these kind of setups. Other people exclusively recommending 500$+ motherboards for these sort of specs and some actively recommend to stay away from these 200-300$ options when going with a i9.
Does anyone have experience using one of these boards or a similar board in the same price range with the CPU or maybe even this CPU+GPU combination? Do these 400$+ boards really offer anything more than the 200-300 ones, if no overclocking is planned?
Doesn't matter really. I'd probably just go MSI. I've heard ASRock is great nowadays for AMD type motherboards but not as good for Intel motherboards. Not sure if that's true but I have an MSI board and it's worked great for me.
If you're looking for first hand advice, ask people on pcpp that have the combos you're considering.
