Hey All,
I'm hoping to crowdsource this question.
Can anyone recommend the biggest/best movie theater in our area that isn't Loews at the Waterfront?
I only bother with movie theaters for big blockbusters that benefit from the full cinematic experience, so I used to go to the Atmos theaters at Loews. However, in the past year, someone turned up the volume past the point of "immersive" and straight into "actually painful and damaging to the ears" territory.
After the 3rd movie, I spoke with the kid manager on duty and asked him to pass along my request that they look into the volume setting, since it is just a smidge too loud. After 3 minutes of the 4th movie I walked out and got a refund and told them that if they don't fix this problem I'd patronize other theaters until they do, so here we are.
I'm looking for theaters within 30 minutes of downtown Pittsburgh that aren't IMAX or 3D that have reserved seating and a nice, large, loud, and immersive experience (without the danger of hearing loss). I'm looking for "flagship" theaters, preferably with stadium seating.
I'm not looking for "good enough", I'm looking for "this is what going to the theater is all about" and "anything worth doing is worth doing well" and "as good as it gets". The kind of experience that the atmos theaters should provide if they tuned their sound properly.
Just to address the "quit whining old man" and "it's just you" objections... the last movie I watched hit 135 decibels in the first 3 minutes, so...objectively too loud. (Jurassic World Dominion, plus the text at the bottom of the screen was actually half off the screen, so the visuals weren't tuned properly either, hence the walk out).
Thank you for your time and recommendations.
