Have you checked out any of the consignments shops? I personally love Found and Kept on 2100 East/1300 South. Lots of nice clothes at reasonable prices, and the owner is so wonderful! I am mid-40s and have to dress up daily for work, and I have found many great items at Found and Kept. I also shop online for consignment pieces from places like ThredUp or Poshmark, although sometimes those are complicated with return fees and such.

Not local, but Uniqlo offers good quality at good prices for new stuff. Some J Crew Outlet and Banana Republic Factory stuff is actually good quality and almost always a good price. Takes a lot more time, but I always buy quality stuff used on eBay, Poshmark, Facebook Marketplace, or similar.

Where does everyone get their cute clothes from?
I recently gained a lot of weight and most of my clothes don't fit me anymore. I also just got a new job after being unemployed for a few months, so I don't have much money to spend, but I want nice clothes to wear at work.
I went to Target and Nordstrom Rack, but I didn't find a whole lot. Maybe it was just because I went during a chaotic time of day.
Any suggestions would be great! I'm really bad at shopping too so if you have general shopping tips, they'd also be appreciated!

Check out the thrift stores! There are a ton of good second-hand clothing/resell stores in SLC where you can get brand name clothing for affordable prices. Here are some of my favorites: Revival Thrift, Uptown Cheapskate, IconoClad, Pib's Exchange, and Plato's Closet. Shopping tip: It's a bit more difficult to find clothes while thrifting, so go with a plan in mind. Know the colors you like to wear & the sizes you need and head straight to those sections. From there, narrow down to the silhouettes or clothing styles that suit you best before heading to the dressing room. Don't be discouraged by strange sizing, though, as second-hand clothing can often run too big or too small for the labeled size. The work is worth the price-- promise! (I only wear certain colors that fit my skin tone and personality, and it helps me when shopping because it automatically narrows the search.) Also seconding the Kohl's comment. They always have good finds in their clearance sections (different than the sales you see on the floor), often under $10!
