The truth is it doesn't really matter, if you had any experience with a brand go by the ones that you had the best with. People harp a lot more on Motherboards than necessary, budget motherboards have reached a standard so high that they are starting to become borderline feature inflated even. They all do the same thing there will be no realistic performance difference between any of them. If you need WIFI or something take one with it if not, having it doesn't impact you negatively either. I don't use it and i have one with it for example. Nowadays the only thing i'd probably really look for is the VRM layout if it has enough because it might be possible to upgrade the Bios for a newer gen at one point. I don't have much knowledge on pc parts and I'm building my first pc with a 7800x3d and 4070 super and i have 4 options of motherboards that I'm not sure what the difference between them except for number of ports. Which one should I pick based on compatibility of my parts and all of your experiences? P.S. I'm not concerned about price.

Coming back into the scene after a 7 year hiatus and trying to understand which manufacturer has been putting out the most reliable boards these days. I'm making the assumption that a higher end MoBo will have most/all the features I specifically need as I'm not a maxed out settings type of gamer by any means. My specific use case would be for a ~mid-to-higher tier gaming and media, 1440p build in the $1500-2000 range. I'm also leaning towards an AMD CPU 7k+ & AMD GPU combo for additional details.

I'm making the assumption that a higher end MoBo will have most/all the features I specifically need It's worse than that - usually the difference between a mid-range and a higher-end motherboard is features that you won't actually end up using. And SOOOO many people buy super high-end boards because they either think that they're faster (they usually aren't), or that they're more "future proof" (they usually aren't). As to brand.... meh. I don't honestly think any major board manufacturer is any more reliable than any other. You can find anecdotal evidence to support ANY brand is clearly superior. None are likely to be.

All of the "Big Four" (Asus, Gigabyte, ASRock, MSi) build reliable motherboards. It all depends on your use case and what features you want to determine which price point to look at. Given the enthusiasm these days with PC Building, Mobo manufacturers are likely to go overboard on components related to power management and overclocking, at least for the normal everyday user. They are all competing with each other to have boards with strong power delivery and other features that allow them to look good in marketing copy next to their competition. For mid to high level systems, you may be paying a lot for a current gen board but it will be a good one in terms of reliability.
