I just jump ship from iPhone to Android, my main app for podcasts was the default Apple Podcast app. The app isn't available for Android (I know, shocker) and would like something similar to it. Hopefully something not too bad heavy.
I'm looking for a top-rated Android podcast app that isn't Podcast Addict, YouTube Music, Pandora, or Spotify. Which one do you recommend?
I primarily listen to horror fiction podcasts like NoSleep. I'm looking for a user-friendly app with a clean interface and minimal customization options.
I recently switched to Android from iPhone on Monday and previously used Apple podcasts.
Quickly searched and this question was asked a year ago, apologies if there's more recent similar posts. I've used podcast addict for years But I'm finding it less and less user friendly.
Like within the playlist, it used to be possible to unsubscribe from a podcast. Now you have to hunt for the podcast under 'podcasts' which is really irritating as there isn't a list of names but the cover art. Sieve through that just to do something that used to be a one click process. I want a simple player that isn't going to require excessive time on my behalf to do anything, I just want functionality! Suggestions? Thanks
My ancient iTouch is not what it used to be, so I need to start listening to podcasts on my phone. Any recommendations for podcast apps, especially for a MBMBAM fan?
Thanks!
I have google podcasts and it mostly works well. I like that there are no ads or features withheld for a pro version, and that it streams.
I don't like that it has no longevity and that I can't figure out how to hide podcasts I've listened to (even though it knows I've listened to them)
I would like to ask for podcast app recommendations (that fulfill certain basic criteria)
What are the best podcast apps that:
is free
no ads
has no major features that you need to listen to podcasts withheld (except maybe syncing across devices, even if that is not available I'd still consider it)
does not require downloading of podcasts. I just want to stream them
supports resuming podcasts
can hide podcasts you've listened to fully
has a good catalog of major podcasts
would be nice features
easy way to skip by predefined amounts like 30 seconds or 1 or 2 minutes, to get through the sponsored stuff
also please don't recommend apps just because they are podcast apps but don't actually meet the main criteria above.
if there is anything really nice about an app you recommend, please mention it. thanks.
Sorry if this has been discussed but I didn't see any posts about this from the past year. I am using PocketCasts still and quite like it but wondering if there are newer/better alternatives out there.
(I know it's been asked before, but I need more options!) I have an android phone. Ever since Google got rid of their podcast app, I've been STRUGGLING. I hate YouTube music.
▪️I tried Antennapod. I liked it's layout but the app kept making episodes skip during playback. ▪️I briefly tried Podcast Addict but the ads at the bottom of the screen was off putting.
▪️I'm currently using Pocket Casts but I hate the layout 😭
Can someone please tell me where else I can listen to my shows??
I've tried many apps and I hate to change again. Currently using castbox, but it's not working properly and has been frustrating me for a while. I've also given up on pocket cast, podcast player and a few others that don't seem to be in the play store anymore. I will not use spotify. Any suggestions? I'm not opposed to paying if it functions well.
Why the fuck was Google Podcasts even shutdown?
I'm finding it hard to replace it with an App as good as it was
Ones I've tried:
-
Podcast Addict:
Why in the blue fuck is this recommended so much?
It's UX and UI are like something out of a 1998 Geocities website
-
Podcast Player:
The UX and UI is a bit better, but still miles away from how good Google Podcasts was
It also seems to only load a limited number of a podcast's back catalogue
In summary:
I'm looking for a Podcast app suggestion that was as smooth as Google Podcasts and also shows every single episode of a podcast
Edit
I no longer subscribe to Spotify, so that isn't an option
Thanks
I changed to Spotify after the fall of Stitcher, but I don't love it. What are you using?
Amazon Music is very temperamental and drives me crazy. What app works best for you and why do you love it?
I really like how simple and free the Google podcast app is. I like that it auto downloads and it is very quick and easy to use.
I have tried two other podcasts apps and they either don't have the podcast I'm looking for or they inundate my phone with notifications and download a bunch of podcasts I have no interest in and I'm not subscribed to.
Now that Google podcast is going away, what is the best app to use? I'm looking for simple, diverse, free, and allows downloads.
I've used Google Podcasts, but I've gotten tired of the lack of volume boost (also I just read that Google is killing the app next year).
I've tried different apps from the Playstore and settled on Pocket Casts and Podbean.
I'm trying to decide which of the two is better, or if you know another good app then please tell me about it.
Preferably No ads
Free is nice, but I'm willing to pay a one time fee (no subscriptions) for an ad free version.
Supposedly Podbean I believe has ads for their free version, but I have yet to see any.
Thanks
Hi fellow skeptics! What podcast app do you use to listen to the show on your android device?
I currently use Google Podcasts but it is being retired on April 1. I recently became a patron and would like an app that easily accesses the premium content RSS feed.
Thanks for any and all suggestions
Edit: Looks like I'll give both Pocket Cast and Podcast Addict a try. The Spotify rec makes sense too, I just use Pandora for music so am outside of the Spotify universe. Thanks!
My God-to app is going away I'm on lookout for a new app
-
Without Ads
-
Preferably FOSS
I have been using Google podcast for a long time now and I don't really like it what are some good podcast apps I can try?
I've been an Overcast user ever since migrating away from Apple Podcasts, but they recently updated it and I find the new user interface irritating. So it might be time to switch.
Probably won't do Spotify since I'm pretty deep into Apple Music.
What else do people recommend?
I have been a big fan of Overcast for a few years now, but there has been some updates recently that really messed things up. Download difficulties, out of control downloads (I discovered that I had nearly 400 episodes downloaded, despite my settings) and UI that has been downgraded. What do you smart and capable people use?
