The Q2U launched in 2007 (the same year as the first iPhone) and has barely changed in 18 years because they nailed it the first time. It sounds great, it's reliable, and one of the few mics you'll feel comfortable throwing into a backpack. We bought our first Q2Us for Buzzsprout in 2014, and I can't remember a single one breaking.

Hi! I have a passion project I want to work on, I am not expecting to make money off of it (it would be nice though). I have researched a bit but it is hard to find something that is not suggested by AI or an affiliate. I don’t want to break the bank on getting podcasting equipment, I need help with suggestions!
Mics, I would like at least 2 if not 3 (depending), what are some good options? I also don’t know if there would be a problem recording from that many mics, what kind of software/devices/equipment would be able to handle that? (Would I also be able to record music with them?)
Best free or inexpensive editing software?
I also want to film it and post it on social media and YouTube from multiple angles to try to reach my target audience more, but I also know it’s landscape vs portrait. Any suggestions for what kind of filming equipment? I’m hoping the episodes don’t go over one hour. How do I edit the cuts to who is speaking without losing video quality?
Will it be easy to setup and take down? It will be at my house and possibly other locations (depending).

If you are truly new to this you are going to have to temper your expectations and dial down the complexity. Stage 1: Master your DAW. Learn how to capture, process and edit recordings. This alone takes quite a bit of time. Especially if you’re trying to incorporate musical (instruments) as an element. There is mixing, mastering and many other things to learn. Stage 2: Once your abilities in your DAE are fine tuned move onto finding better audio hardware for your environment and budget. There are many different ones with different profiles which suit certain applications. Vocal mics aren’t going to work as well as one that is recording an instrument. Stage 3: Once you’ve got your audio production up to your personal standards you would need to sort out your storage requirements and backup solutions for the projects you plan to produce. Stage 4: With all that in place you will then need to master a video editing application like Premier or DaVinci resolve. Like the DAW above you’re going to want to fully understand the software and basic editing principles before you make things complex with multiple cameras and angles. Stage 5: Now that you’ve got all that in place you can finally begin to look into video hardware. Cameras, switchers, lenses and lighting setups.
