r/gamingsuggestions on Reddit: Ps5 games with the deepest/most engaging open world?
March 8, 2025 -

I’m thinking games that have huge open worlds with a lot going on and lots to do, so big that you can pretty much ignore the story and do your own thing.

I want a game I can get lost in without any pressure of following the story if I choose not too.

So I just beat Baldurs Gate 3. I know it's not an open world but it was very engaging and much better than I expected for my first time playing that game style. Also one of the harder games I ever played and was hooked. I do enjoy my open world games where I can explore, relax or engage after a long day. I would like a game relatively newer

In the past year I've played some incredible titles and these are some of my favorites and also so maybe you can help me find my next title and why (no particular order)

  • Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, Ghost of Tsushima, Red Dead 2, all the Assassins Creeds (except Shadows), No Mans Sky, BG3, GTA, Fallout, Shadow of War, God of War

Contemplating: Elden Ring (heard it's hard though), AC Shadows (though I am ok holding off on this for now after playing GoT)

Thanks for your recommendations!

PS5 Pro, looking for good Open World game as close to RDR2 as possible. : r/ShouldIbuythisgame
May 23, 2025 - Cyberpunk 2077 my second fav game, doesnt feel like fantasy at all, its very raw and ton of attention to details. Love the whole world building( you can enhance you experience by watching Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime) Far cry 5 will be unpopular opinion, but its one of the best open world game ...

I would love a good open world rpg game which is on ps5. I've really enjoyed games such as zelda breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom. But these aren't on ps5. I would really appreciate if its free and I have ps plus essential.

Hello everyone

I bought my ps5 because I wanted to play Hogwarts Legacy, and now that I have mostly finished it, I wanted to try out similar games.

So I bought Skyrim, since I enjoyed the open world in Hogwarts legacy and had heard great things about Skyrim. I do think Skyrim is a good game, but I also find it incredibly difficult (I play on novice mode, which is the easiest). I have only ever played Hogwarts Legacy, which is pretty straight forward. I find all the different skills, weapons and laws etc, to be overwhelming. I have to look up most of the quests, cause I don’t know what I’m doing, and I keep forgetting there are consequences to my illegal actions (I can’t even steal some cheese without getting caught, since sneaking isn’t my strong suit).

An example of my gaming talent: I accidentally punched someone in the face instead of jumping (i mixed up the buttons on my controller) so I panicked and ran away. Not realizing Lydia (my companion) killed her. Then I spend an embarrassing amount of time trying to figure out why the guards kept killing me over and over again, since I was just trying to help them fight a dragon. Apparently it was because I had a 1000 gold bounty on my head for murder, and when I took out my weapon to fight the dragon - I was seen as hostile:(

So I was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for straightforward, open world games that are both beginner and blockhead friendly.

Thank you very much for your time

April 29, 2024 - ... Ghost of Tsushima. It’s a beautiful game that you can play as chill or challenging as you like. You’ll love it. ... Honestly? Cyberpunk 2077. There's still a few bugs but there's so many good things about the game. Night City is one of the best realized open worlds to date.

New to PS5 - Looking for the best open world, immersive experience that offers a sense of exploration : r/ShouldIbuythisgame
October 19, 2025 - RDR2 on PS5 supports 60fps now iirc. One of the most immersive open worlds available. Kingdom Come Deliverance 1 and 2 are also top contenders for open world gaming if you want a more historically accurate (for a game) depiction of Bohemia.

Don’t know if this is the appropriate Reddit thread, but I’m looking for some ps5 recommendations to play. I just finished Hogwarts legacy, and got that itch to just play games that I can sink time into and get lost in it all. I’ve considered replaying the Witcher 3 as I haven’t played it on ps5 yet. I’ve play HL, FFXVI, RDR2, Star Wars Jedi/Survivor, R&C, Skyrim. I appreciate any input! 😁

Me and my group have just finished Palworld and are looking for our next game. I had been looking at Ark but I'm hearing a lot of issues with the game crashing, people losing saves plus needing a pc to run a server or paying for one (we don't want to play in public servers).

They were focused on exploring, combat and capturing more than everything else so that's where I'm trying to find games that focus on this aspects, I get the capturing is unlikely.

Any help is very much appreciated.

r/playstation on Reddit: Best PS5 exclusive open world rpgs to buy for a new PS5 owner?

Just got a gift card for a big box retailer and considering using it to buy a PS5. Haven't owned a Sony counsel since PS3. Just curious in some of the exclusive games I should get when I buy the system.

I am a massive fan of games like Mass Effect, Far Cry, Fallout, Oblivion/Skyrim, Assassin's Creed, Outer Worlds 1&2, GTA 5, Cyberpunk ect. That have large open worlds to explore with lots of side quest and awesome story telling.

What PS5 exclusive games would you recommend I start with if I want something similar to these games?

r/ShouldIbuythisgame on Reddit: PS5 game - 3rd person, open world, AND real-world/Earth-based?
April 29, 2025 -

So, i heavily prefer open-world, but might be open to something more structured. (The Last of Us games were amazing). But it MUST be 3rd person. I hate FPS. And it MUST be on Earth, and it has to be (more-or-less) the real world. I don't like fantasy and space stuff. I want to walk around real cities or real wilderness.

The games i've played and enjoyed that fit in this category include: GTA series, Fallout 4, The Division 2, and Red Dead Redemption.

It can be somewhat of an alternate history like Fallout, or a period piece like Red Dead, or post-apocalyptic like The Division. But my fantasy is that i'm playing on my "home turf" and the real world. That's where my immersion comes in. So, swords, dragons, magic, supernatural, other planets and realms are of no interest to me. I live and work on the actual game map for The Division 2 (Washington, DC), so it's super cool visiting all the places i know so well. I don't expect another DC game, but i would still like similar experiences.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

r/videogames on Reddit: Recommendations for open-world RPGs on PS5? Feel like I've exhausted them all...
April 1, 2024 -

I love a huge open world to explore, lots of quests, challenges, achievements, and collectibles to find. 3rd or 1st person are both fun. Here are the games I've played and loved.

  • RDR2 (my #1)

  • Horizon (ZD and FW)

  • AC Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins

  • Ghost of Tsushima

  • God of War (and Ragnarok)

  • FarCry 4-6

  • The Witcher III

  • Cyberpunk 2077

  • Avatar : Fronteirs of Pandora

  • Star Wars Outlaws

  • Jedi: Survivor and Fallen Order

  • Hogwarts Legacy

  • All Uncharted and Tomb Raider games

  • Immortals Fenyx Rising

I do not like: way too much complex crafting (hence why Skyrim/Elden Ring aren't on the list), first person shooters (like COD), horror (I'm a wuss), or games in anime style (just not my thing). I've tried but didn't like : Shadow of Mordor, Miles Morales, Arkham Knight.

Any recommendations? I've got Fallout 4 on my radar but open to others. Cheers.

Looking for a new open world game for PC/PS5
March 11, 2024 - Used to love the old Battlefield Bad Company for the open world aspect. Loved the Last of Us series, great story, but didn’t like the “corridors” you were constantly in. Have a 11th gen i7 and 3070 graphics cards in the PC and also a PS5.
