Are Recliners Good For Back Pain?
What Recliners Do Chiropractors Recommend?
Can You Sleep In A Recliner?
The old recliner has finally given up the ghost. It served me well for a good fifteen years, but the springs are shot and it makes a noise like a dying animal every time I sit down. My wife is getting on me to replace it, so here I am.
Honestly, I don't even know where to begin. You walk into a big furniture store and it's like a minefield of salesmen. I grew up thinking La-Z-Boy was the gold standard, the absolute peak of comfort. But now I look at their prices and you have to wonder if your paying for the name or for actual quality. I've seen those ads for Stressless chairs too, and while they look nice, the price tag could fund a small military operation.
It's sort of like buying tools or a new driver for golf, every brand claims to be revolutionary but half the time it's just marketing fluff. I'm not looking for anything too crazy, no ejector seat or built-in fridge. Just something comfortable that will last, and offer some decent lumbar support for a bad back. Are the powered ones with USB ports and all that just more things that can break down the line?
So, I'm turning to you all. What's the buy-it-for-life recliner of today? Or at least, buy-it-for-a-decade. What brands should I be looking at besides the obvious ones? Leather vs fabric? Appreciate any real world advice you can offer.
I’m currently in the market for a comfortable, high-quality recliner that offers great support, solid build quality, and good value for the price. I’m not necessarily looking for the cheapest option—I want something that’s comfortable for daily use, durable, and built to last for years whether it’s for relaxing, watching TV, reading, or even taking naps.
I’ve done some research and come across a few popular options, but I’d really love to hear from others who have personal experience with these—or any other favorites. Some recliners I’m currently considering include:
La-Z-Boy Anderson or Pinnacle Recliners
Homall Recliner Chair (more budget-friendly)
Esright Massage Recliner Chair
Ashley Furniture Yandel Power Lift Recliner
Christopher Knight Home Recliners
Signature Design by Ashley Hogan Recliner
Human Touch Perfect Chair (zero-gravity option)
If you’ve tried any of these—or have other recommendations—I’d really appreciate your feedback! Specifically, I’m looking for thoughts on:
Overall comfort and support (especially for long sitting sessions)
Build quality and durability (frame, upholstery, padding)
Manual vs. power recline (and which you prefer)
Ease of use (smooth mechanisms, ease of getting in/out)
Extra features (heat, massage, cup holders, storage, etc.)
Style and how well it fits into living room décor
Trying to find a recliner that delivers comfort, function, and long-term value. Your real-world experiences would be super helpful!
I'm a big dude, currently over 300lbs. I plan on slimming down but I'm looking for something that won't bust after a year or two of my big self kicking my feet up every night. I've gone through two recliners and they both were just so poorly made. Broke after a year. One from American signature and the other from Kanes.
I'm thinking of getting a Lazyboy but I heard they're not the same quality they used to be. So who makes the best recliners? Something I can get at least 10 years out of.
I purchased a recliner that wasn't anywhere near a top-quality brand or price, and it just hasn't been comfortable.
I want to gift myself an early birthday present and get a nice recliner. Would a La-Z-Boy be my best choice? If so, I would want a manual one with no electronics included. Any suggestions?
