I want to see what slides what slides are preferred/the best quality.
With the high cost of shipping I'm looking at local stores. Knap is at Woodcraft, more expensive than Centerlineb at Rockler.

So making a dresser for my daughter. Fairly standard 6 drawer configuration (3 on each side) about 60”(w)x32”(h). And I want to use drawer slides, which is something I’ve never done before. I’ve made lots of cabinets with drawers, but never with slides, so trying to figure all this out. I’d like to use side mount, full extension with soft close if possible. I’ve read a bunch of reviews that talk about Blum slides, but it seems they are difficult to get right now. Can anyone make some recommendations for brands/models that are available now, that you have use and like? Appreciate any feedback.
Building my first full kitchen, and was planning on using full extension side mount drawer slides(not soft close). I have used these several times and have not had a problem, but seeing several recent posts makes me wonder if I should switch to undermount, are the side mounts really that bad? Will be making drawer boxes this week, already have side mount slides, but can always change. These will be going on face frame cabinets with 5" tall openings.
I know the drawer should be 1” smaller then the opening (24” opening 23” drawer). What’s is the the minimum size drawer you can go with to fit a 24” opening without adding shims for a drawer slide to work, would a 1/8” difference work? Say I make the drawers 23 7/8. I know you have some flexibility with how the drawer slides are designed with the mounting tabs. Thanks
I'm having a nightmare with side mount drawer slides to the point where I threw in the towel and am about to order under mount slides. The reason is that I can attach them to the face frame and to the rear of my cabinet.
Does everyone have a preference on what the easiest and best type of drawer slides are? (Under mount/ side mount)
Ok, so we built the kitchen with the standard ready made cabinets from one of the big box stores. The wood parts are holding up well. However, we couldn't upgrade the slides at the time as they were already built.
It's time to replace them. I don't want to get random junk from Amazon. Some of the brands I've seen here are Knape and Vogt, Blum, and one or two others that I seem to have lost track of.
There is 1/2" between the side and the face. They are mounted on the rear with a small bracket.
Is it as simple as out with the old and in with the new? Anything I need to watch out for or make sure I do?
They are 22 inch. Planning on getting full extension soft closing.
Thank you for your help.
This is what we currently have in use. What type of drawer slides would you use for this build? I have built drawers using side mount but never under mount. The main desk will be made of 1.75” white oak with waterfall legs. My concern is the vertical leg might be the slightest off 90 degrees and worried the side mount drawer slides might not be perfect.
I am trying to replace some noisy side mount roller drawer slides. I bought these soft closing bearing drawer slides from home depot:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-18-in-Soft-Close-Full-Extension-Side-Mount-Ball-Bearing-Drawer-Slide-Set-D94218E-ZP-W/302867519
However, after installing these, and realize that these suck. They are technically quieter, but they don't move as freely as my old roller drawer slides, and in particular, they require a lot of force to open. Enough force that the contents of the drawers slide around every time I open them. I want something that is quiet, but also moves freely and does not require much force to open. Price is not a big deal because I only need it for two drawers. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, what is the difference between "self closing" and "soft closing". I thought they were the same thing, but Home Depot has a category for each (see on this page as example):

I generally use undermount slides but we have a high end job coming up that absolutely has to have side mounts. What’s you’re go to side mount soft close drawer slide that will hold up for years with no problems?
I want to make drawers for this pantry cabinet. I have made a couple of drawers already for other cabinets and used soft close slides from Menards but they're not great. I plan on living in this house for a very long time and would like to do this right. What kind of slides should I use for drawers for this cabinet, considering that they're face frame cabinets? These are Schrock cabinets if that helps, with 1/2" plywood sides.
And if I want to change the hinges so these are soft close doors, what kind am I looking for?
I am currently painting our kitchen cabinets and I am wanting to upgrade our drawers to have side mounted drawer slides with soft-close. Trying to keep the price for a pair under $20 and what I have seen at Menards, HD, and Lowe’s either have few reviews or mediocre reviews. Any recommendations out there? Thanks in advance!
Can anyone provide some feedback on the overall quality of this type of drawer slide? We are at the tail end of a kitchen renovation, and the carpenter who has done a magnificent job to dare building and installing custom cabinets has installed some soft close ball bearing drawer slides that we’re having trouble with already.
Drawers seem to continuously require some fiddling/adjusting to maintain the soft close feature. Otherwise they stop short and/or require an extra shove to fully close.
The cabinet maker is using cardboard shims on the the inside of some of the slides and in his words this is normal because if the drawers were the exact size as the rails if they would be difficult to operate. meanwhile im getting increasingly frustrated with these slides as we get closer to me having to make our final payment, and Im wondering if we need to request better quality slides before we close things out.
would appreciate any thoughts/feedback on this slide type.
I dont wanna put link because idk if thats allowed but this is the amazon title. Blum 563H5330B 21" Tandem Drawer Slides Plus Blumotion Complete Kit. with Runners 563H, Locking Devices, Rear Mounting Brackets and Screws (for Face Frame Or Frameless Application), Zinc (Pack of 6).
I need 18 so i need to make sure they are the right ones. Its going for big drawers like the 2nd pic. Are these the undermounts or side mounts? because they look like undermounts but the description in the poage says side mounts.
ALso which is better for big drawers, side or under mounts?
Looking for some high quality upgrades for these bottom mount drawer slides. They’re so noisey. Price isn’t an issue. Anyone have any ideas?
We will be repainting all our kitchen cabinets soon, as it's the more budget friendly option than doing a whole new kitchen. I also want to upgrade all the hinges and drawer slides. For hinges I'll get Blum 39C soft close hinges.
But for drawer slides, what are the best brands to consider? There is of course Blum, but I think that might be too expensive, given that maybe in 5 years if we still live here we might then redo the whole kitchen. So I'd prefer something more budget friendly, but still from a good and reliable brand.
A lot of the websites out there recommend brands like Lontan, but all the user reviews show them to not be very reliable. And since these slides aren't easy to install, I only want to do it once.
So, what are all the good drawer slide brands to consider with soft closing features?
I’ve been wondering recently if or when it matters where you mount side mount drawers slides on drawers boxes. I typically stick them right in the middle of the box. Is there any reason to mount closer to the top or bottom? I haven’t had any issues with mine, I’m just curious for the future if there’s any reason to mount them in a particular place, other than aesthetics.
Looking for a decent set of side mount drawer slides. Not wanting to spend a fortune since this is shop furniture. I’ll need something that will hold around 125-150 lbs. looked around on Amazon but was unsure of the quality so I figured I’d reach out to the experts. Thanks
What drawer slides are y'all using for shop furniture? I'm upgrading my whole shop with purpose built furniture (miter station, outfeed table, assembly table), and I'm looking at A LOT of drawers. I'm trying to find slides that are good and solid, but won't break the bank...
