To those that want to roast me and tell me to do my own research, carry on...
To those that like to be helpful and are cool, I have a question for you.
I'm looking for a used car, somewhere around $5,000 range. I'm wondering what are some of the best cars (model and year) that don't waste any money on bells and whistles. I don't care if it's ugly. My criteria is the following:
-
Cruise control
-
Reliable (so probably Honda or Toyota)
-
Cloth seats
-
NOT rear wheel drive (I live in the snow)
-
Small engine (for good MPG)
From my research it seems like finding a Honda Civic/Accord or a Toyota Camry/Corolla are the best for my needs. My only problem is everyone knows those are the best so they are hard to come by for under $5K.

Honda civic. They run great, cheap on gas, plenty of parts for repairs. Just to give you an idea…in 2023 I paid $7500Canadian for a 2012 LX sedan stick shift and she’s been really good to me. It had 157,000km at purchase, right now I have 308,000km on it. I had to sell a high end paid off suv for divorce lawyer money. This car was going to be my 1 year plan. If you're willing to drive base model manual, probably the best deal I regularly find is Nissan Versa's with around 100k miles. I know 2 people that have ridden these things 200k+ with no issues. If you need something with an automatic, I'd stick with a Honda or Toyota if you can find anything within your price range. More on reddit.com
