I’m looking to enhance the sound on my Sony 85” X90CL Series TV and need some advice. I’m not an audiophile and don’t know much about audio systems. I’m considering getting a soundbar/subwoofer combo from Costco for streaming shows, movies, and maybe some console gaming. Are these combos worth it? Will I notice an improvement over the TV’s built-in speakers, or should I save my money?
Thanks!
I’m currently looking for a high-quality soundbar with a subwoofer and am a bit confused about which brand to go for. My main priorities are great bass quality, Dolby Atmos support, and an immersive audio experience.
I’d love some recommendations on the best soundbars that offer these features. Here are some top brands I’ve come across:

I’ve been doing analysis on reddit data and was looking at the most recommended soundbars in r/soundbars VS other subs. Thought I’d share the results here.
Its part of a side project of mine to play with Reddit data and LLMs. The goal was to create something useful for the community while learning and improving my development skills.
The analysis aims to highlight the most well reviewed soundbars. It can be taken as a very rough proxy for what’s widely considered the best soundbars. Hopefully it is a useful data point for anyone overwhelmed by the massive amount of fragmented information out there.
Methodology: For extraction and sentiment analysis, I used the Reddit’s API to scour discussions on soundbars across all subreddits (filtered for the past year for freshness). I sampled 757 relevant threads and used LLMs to analyze, extract, and categorize opinions from the comments. To identify the product, I used the info in the comment to lookup Amazon. Unfortunately for now the list only shows models available on Amazon (for simplicity’s sake).
For ranking, I calculated the normalized difference and ratio between the no. of positive and negative user sentiments, and used that to determine the final score for ranking.
Caveat: Handling and merging different descriptions, model numbers, abbreviations etc, and associating them with the right variation is non trivial, so its not 100% accurate. Let me know if you spot anything wrong or surprising.

Need help choosing a soundbar that has a built-in subwoofer. I unfortunately cannot use one with a separate subwoofer as I live on the middle floor of an apartment. I was thinking something similar to the Sennheiser AMBEO Plus but more affordable (it’s unfortunately just too expensive for me at the moment). Costco currently has the Sony HT-A5000 on sale and was wondering if that would fit the bill?
I'm located in Canada and I'm wondering what would be a good recommendation for a sound bar with a built-in subwoofer?
I have the Sony HT-XT100 but every so often the sound bar has a mind of its own, it starts lowering the volume all by itself, and fights me when I try to bring it back up.
I'm starting to get really fed up with this behavior from what I suspect has to be a short with the volume down button, and since Sony graciously never put a child lock procedure on that model, I can't child lock the control panel to make it stop.
Why built-in sound bar? Even though I know a separate wireless subwoofer would sound better, I like it when its all in one enclosure.
So now, before I start hammering a screwdriver against the button to physically break the connection with the volume down button, and the control panel PCB. What's a good recommendation for a sound bar with a built-in subwoofer?
Using a Bose soundbar 700 with a base module700 and rears. Thinking of upgrading to something that has Dolby atmos built in. Considering waiting until October when JBl releases their newest model jbl bar1300mk2. Not sure if that will be the most bang for my buck and I’m really not worried about price if the quality speaks for itself
In a larger room and looking for something that is clear but also gets loud without losing too much quality. Use the sound bar daily for music and tv/movies. Don’t really use it too much when I’m gaming or I keep it rather low on the volume
Hello, I’m looking to add a soundbar and sub with possibly some surround sound speakers to my setup. It’s for my small bedroom (about 10’x10’). I work at Best Buy and I get a good discount on most soundbars, but I was specifically looking at the jbl 9.1. I’ve asked 2 coworkers and one said jbl is great and the other said he would avoid jbl. Is that a good choice? What are some other good options? Thanks in advance
Looking to buy soundbar for bass heavy music and movies with Dolby Atmos support
budget isnt a constraint
suggestions are appreciated
Nakamichi isnt available where am it
JBL Samsung Sony Sonos and Bose are the options
Edit: JBL 1300X isnt available where am at only JBL 1300 for 1250$ and Samsung Q990F for 850$
Am confused now
Quick Update :
Just went to experience center and didnt really like the JBL 1300 its just extreme on bass but just muddy and weird. No other use case beyond music
Q990F on other hand has good bass at level 3 and surround sound is out of the world, must for movies, games etc.
Went ahead with Q990F, should receive it by 16th
Recently upgraded the family living room TV from a 10 year old unit, now realizing that although picture quality has skyrocketed over the years, speakers have been overlooked on with newer TVs. Looking to get a cheap sound system and was wondering based on the pictures, which system would be best? We’re just looking for something that’ll sound better than the TV (TCL 681G, which sounds very tinny and dialogue isn’t that good with my poor hearing). Also wondering based on my $100 budget if a separate subwoofer is even worth it or will it just be garbage. Just want to hear everyone’s thoughts on the options I’ve narrowed down on based on reviews and some surface level Googling, but please give recommendations on anything close to my $100 budget!
Pretty much the title. I just bought a new 65” LG C4 and want to pair it with something to make my entertainment pop that much more. I’m tired of built-in speakers. I need a soundbar recommendation that is preferably under $200.
I am looking for a soundbar + sub to pair with a LG OLED in basement with 8 foot ceilings. Due to the layout of the space, I will not have space/power for rear speakers. I will primarily be watching sports, TV shows, and movies through an Apple TV 4K. Occasionally it will be used for music, but primary use is streaming video.
I am considering:
Sonos Arc + Sub - I am considering the Arc as I just bought one on clearance at Costco for $399. Id buy a Sub 3 or Sub 4 (or mini?) to pair with this.
Sonos Arc Ultra + Sub? - The Arc Ultra is considerably more expensive than the Arc. However, I know that the Arc Ultra has more bass than the Arc, but I’m assuming I would still need to add a Sub to the system. But perhaps I could get by with a mini?
Samsung Q900F - This just recently came out and is the new version of the Q900C. This soundbar comes with a sub and is a 7.1.2 system. It’s on the more expensive end, but looking for best setup for the money, so not necessarily an issue.
Samsung Q800F - This is also a new release from Samsung. It also comes with a sub but in a 5.1.2 configuration.
Other - I’d also consider a Samsung Q990D as there have been some good deals popping up since the new Q990F came out. This system comes with rear speakers, which I wouldn’t need and would just store them.
Any advice on the best soundbar + sub setup for movies? Am I missing anything else? Ideally would like to stay under $1200.
Thanks for your input!
Any suggestion would be helpful with brand recommendation
I'm due for a new home receiver and thought I could get rid of my receiver and speakers to simplify things. I have a nice Klipsch powered subwoofer so I am looking for a soundbar that has ARC and subwoofer output port. My wife doesn't like having the separate receiver because you always need to change the input whenever switching from TV apps to Cable box.
Basically what’s the best soundbar system I need suggestions for both surround sound soundbar system and also the best single soundbar (it’s for a small bedroom)? I’m not looking for a sound system requiring a receiver for a number of reasons, just the best soundbar system.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions for sound bar ratings, and review websites, that you trust please list those as well
Thank you!
Looking for recommendations for a soundbar with integrated woofer for under $400. It's for a small area, so it doesn't have to be extravagant.
Thanks!
I'm new to the whole 'home theatre' world. At the moment looking at getting a soundbar, with a view to then get some separate speakers to hopefully connect wirelessly and end up with surround sound.
Also don't want to break the bank...
Currently looking at getting the Bose soundbar 600 - is this a good move? Anyone else have some better suggestions as to what they would do?
