r/Earbuds on Reddit: Best earbuds to buy in 2025
September 13, 2025 -

Looking for the best earbuds. I currently have the Sony WF-XM5, and I have to say I’m pretty disappointed. The ANC is average, and without perfect passive seal, background noise leaks in quite easily. Sound quality isn’t bad.

The worst part is that during many work calls—even in a quiet room—the other side says I sound muffled, like I’m in a tunnel or an aquarium.

I’m looking for earbuds that deliver top-tier sound quality with excellent noise canceling and call performance.

Budget isn’t an issue, but I honestly don’t know what to choose anymore.

I was considering the Technics AZ100 or the JBL Tour Pro 3.

Will I actually notice an improvement over the Sonys? Is there something else that’s more recommended? I’m totally confused at this point.

March 31, 2025 -

After testing a variety of in-ear earbuds this year, three really stood out to me. Each one earned its spot for different reasons, and I’m curious about your thoughts too!

Sony WF-1000XM5 have been my most well-rounded pair. The sound is rich and detailed, ANC is top-tier, and they’re super comfortable. Sony really nailed the fit this time and added reliable multipoint, making these perfect for everyday use. How do you feel about Sony’s noise cancellation and overall sound quality? Have you tried these yet?

Jabra Elite 7 Pro replaced my usual Apple earbuds. The thing that won me over was the incredible call quality and their secure, lightweight fit—they’re perfect for both work calls and workouts. Plus, the customizable EQ is a nice touch for fine-tuning the sound. If you’re not tied to the Apple ecosystem, would you give these a shot? How do you prioritize call quality in your earbuds?

Bose QuietComfort II are still my top pick for pure noise cancellation. The ANC is absolutely unmatched, and they stay comfy even during long listening sessions. They’re a bit bulkier, but totally worth it when I want to completely block everything out. If you’re all about noise isolation, how do these compare to your go-to earbuds?

Each of these serves a different need—Sony for overall performance, Jabra for calls and versatility, and Bose for unbeatable quiet. What’s your top pick for the year?

Solid picks ngl. Kinda curious what everyone’s wildcard is tho, there’s always that one sleeper hit no one expects. Sony WF’s are solid for the smart features imo, but yeah, they’re pricey and I’ve seen a bunch of mixed takes on call quality. Jabra 7 Pro feels like a mixed one- great fit, but people say the call quality’s hit or miss. Heard the 8 Active stepped things up a bit, esp in sound and durability. Bose tho… not sure that’s the move. r/bose is full of folks complaining about one bud randomly dying or glitching out. Sounds frustrating af. Imma toss my recc in the bag here too with these T-90 ones . Fit’s nice and solid bass. Gaming mode helps with sync, but call quality seems just okay- kinda muffled, not the clearest .

Hi all, I'm back in the market for some wireless earbuds and want something that sounds as good as possible. Price is secondary as long as the sound is worth the budget, so to speak--if it hits diminishing returns then that's where I'd draw the line, but otherwise the budget is fluid. Also, for TWS earbuds, I think a good quality of ANC is a pretty useful feature, so that would always be a plus. Anyone got some good recommendations? Any new releases or upcoming ones that seem promising?

r/Earbuds on Reddit: Best Wireless Earbuds October 2025
October 1, 2025 -

Hello everybody,

I am currently looking to buy some wireless earbuds. I've read like 20ish articles online about what the best pair would be, but it is mainly about the open market and famous brands : Sony, Bose, Apple...

I am a musician and listen to tons of music a day, and I want to treat myself with what could come close to the best audio quality available on the market. So I want an unbiased opinion on what could do the trick for me !

As I plan to have only this pair on a daily basis, a good call quality (or at least correct) is important, as well as an ANC that doesn't completely transform the sound and still works fine.

I have no budget limitations whatsoever, I really want to treat myself with the best !

Do you have any tips on what I should consider ? I've found that the Denon Perl Pros, Devialet Gemini II and Technics AZ100 are often recommended, but are they overhyped ? Are they still relevant in October 2025 ? And we should also see the last Sony Earbuds out soon now, should I wait for this product ? I have the impression that we are juste before the next wave of earbuds as every product is like 1 and a half years old, and I would be disappointed to buy an expensive pair of earbuds just to have a newer, better and not so much pricier version coming out in 2 months lol

Thank you !

r/Earbuds on Reddit: Which Earbuds to Buy in 2025 If Money Is No Object
March 10, 2025 -

I am currently using Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds. I used to be, but I am no longer, a fan, because: 1) my ears hurt after a couple of hours, and 2) the battery now wears out very quickly - after about 1 hour of usage. On the plus side, at least my ears don't hurt anymore because they die quickly 😂

I am in the market for new ones. I checked out Sony's XM5 and Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds. I've read that Sony's still suffer from the same battery and comfort issues (WTF), and Bose's have connectivity issues (more WTF). These are deal breakers for me, especially when considering the price.

What would be considered the best earbuds pick in 2025? I don't care about the price if it's justified. My use case is open office work and cycling (so wind noise suppression matters). Oh also, I am rocking an Android phone, so AirPods won't work for me. I welcome your suggestions.

P.S. Sony and Bose seem to be considered top picks in general. Since I am not so keen on those for the reasons explained, I also checked out Soundcore A40 as a budget alternative and am curious to learn how you feel about those. Thanks y'all!

I'm torn, I originally grabbed a pair of Status Audio Between's, then switched to the Bang and Olufsen Beoplay EX's. Now I'm looking at Bower and Wilkins PI8's, but also Nothing Ear 2024's.

I am looking for premium levels in sound quality, clarity, and range. With working apps with EQ's, reliable touch controls that are responsive, decent battery life, but that do NOT have eventual connection issues via bluetooth.

I was going to stay with the Bang and Olufsen EX's, but despite it's stellar sound quality, saw far too many reviews and reports with it having terrible issues with dropping connection. Unfortunately I also saw people complaining about the same issue with the Bower & Wilkins PI8's. You'd think for that premium price point, those things would be for sure fixed.

I've heard Technica AZ100's aren't too bad, but am seeing a lot of people praising the new 2024 Nothing Ears, stating that the Nothings provide sound quality that punches up as high as the previous examples but for half the cost. (which is pretty darn appealing, they also look pretty rad).

Hell I even looked at the Noble Rex 5 with it's 5 drivers, but dang that price is steeeep, and no features/app.

Which of these picks should I go with? Or if you have any other brands and models within the $150-400 (Canadian range), I'm all ears.

I want audiophile sound quality, good app with EQ, good overall build quality, decent battery life (that wont die after a couple years, no bluetooth connection issues, and a comfy fit. ANC and Trans aren't really big deals for me, but I wouldn't mind a bad ANC.

If I am going to drop around a half a grand, I gotta know it's going to best the best. That, or I'll just take a chance with the Nothing Ear 2024. What your guy's picks and suggestions?

I have the Nothing ear 2024, technics az100 and the Pi8’s. Out of the 3 the Nothing Ear sounds best to me, not in the stock tune but with the eq this person made: https://www.reddit.com/r/NothingTech/s/SifrdyP3zx I personally love the bass preset, it’s punchy and rumbly without ever bleeding into the midrange. The Pi8 and Technics sound too harsh for me, yes the pi8 is detailed but also not in a smooth way. I don’t know if you’re one of those loud listeners but if you are, the nothing will dissapoint. Their volume drops a bit with the advanced eq. Imo, they are definitely still loud enough to damage your hearing and i personally am not a loud listener but i know a lot of people are just to clarify things. Anyway i think the nothing sounds great with these presets and are very pleasant and smooth for what they are.

Second the OnePlus BP3 and you get better ANC and Transparency with them. Here's Picky Audio's rating of the two. Personally I think the BP3 is an 8.5 in SQ. I haven't heard or used the Nothing Ears. but i've used the CMF Plus 3 and it's pretty good, but not as good as the BP3 Here's Picky Audio's scoring, I personally disagree that the 4's sound as good as the 3's and the ANC on the 3's is better than the 4's for me. it's strong but tuned differently. I am hoping the Technics AZ100 are the clear winner for this year since the latter part of the last year was all about Technics. But there's fair game in competition with Sony and Sennheiser as well because both brands may introduce their models later in 2025 therefore I am skeptical about buying now. What should I do? found some threads that are helpful in the problem that update late in the year. Maybe I stay a little longer. Also I want best in terms of sound and ANC.

March 16, 2025 -

I was recently using the moondrop space travel. The sound quality was really good however the anc was bad and one of the buds would die all of the sudden or not charge.

I'm looking for a good wireless earbud that

  • Has decent battery (I sometimes use them for 3 to 4 hours straight during commute or the gym)

  • Has good ANC as I usually use them while commuting

  • Has nice sound quality

  • Under $100

I was doing some searching and found 3 possible candidates:

  • CMF Buds Pro 2

  • Oneplus Buds 3

  • Soundpeats Capsule 3 pro plus

Anyone have any experience with these buds or have compared them? If you have any other suggestions comment them down below!

This guide breaks down the very best earbuds of the year, helping you choose the perfect pair for your lifestyle and budget.

Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro – Pros & Cons Review

The Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro are Anker’s flagship true wireless earbuds, positioned as a feature-packed yet affordable alternative to premium models from Apple, Sony, and Bose. With a sleek design, advanced noise cancellation, and a unique charging case, they’ve generated a lot of buzz. But do they live up to the “Pro” name? Let’s dive in.

  • Affordable Price Point At ~$129, they undercut premium competitors while offering many of the same features.

❌ Cons (Weaknesses)

  • Audio Balance Issues

    • Some reviewers noted tinny highs and weak bass depth compared to Sony or Bose [2].

    • Requires EQ tweaking to sound its best.

  • Call Quality Could Be Better Microphone performance is average, with background noise sometimes bleeding into calls.

  • Charging Case Design Flaws

    • Reflective lid is a fingerprint magnet .

    • Display is small and not very intuitive to use.

  • Spatial Audio Underwhelming While included, it doesn’t match Apple’s or Sony’s immersive 3D audio experience.

  • Large Earbud Size Bulkier than some competitors, which may not suit smaller ears.

  • Not the Best Transparency Mode Competing models like AirPods Pro offer more natural ambient sound passthrough.

📊 Quick Comparison Table

FeatureStrengths ✅Weaknesses ❌
Sound QualityRich bass, customizable EQHighs can sound tinny, needs tweaking

🏆 Verdict .

The Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro are a strong contender in the mid-range wireless earbud market. However, a few drawbacks—like average call quality, bulky design, and underwhelming spatial audio—keep them from being true “Pro” killers.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 – Pros & Cons Review

The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are Google’s latest flagship wireless earbuds, launched alongside the Pixel 10 series. They aim to compete with heavyweights like Apple’s AirPods Pro 2, Sony WF-1000XM5, and Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II. With improved design, better noise cancellation, and deeper integration with Google’s ecosystem, they’re positioned as a top choice for Android users. But do they deliver on all fronts? Let’s break it down.

✅ Pros (Strengths)

    • Up to 8 hours with ANC on (12 hours without)

🏆 Verdict .

The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are a fantastic choice for Android users, especially those in the Pixel ecosystem. They deliver excellent ANC, strong sound, long battery life, and seamless Google integration. However, the lack of hi-res codec support, limited iOS functionality, and a price tag close to more advanced competitors mean they’re not the universal best pick.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro

Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro – Pros & Cons Review

The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro are Samsung’s 2024–2025 flagship wireless earbuds, designed to rival Apple’s AirPods Pro 2/3, Sony WF-1000XM5, and Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II. • Many advanced features (SSC codec, live translation, seamless switching) are Samsung-only.

    • Non-Samsung Android and iOS users are limited to AAC codec and fewer features [3][4].

    • ~6 hours with ANC on, ~8 hours without.

  • Design Not for Everyone

    • Angular, futuristic look is divisive—some find it stylish, others find it derivative of AirPods [2].

📊 Quick Comparison Table

🏆 Verdict .

The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro are a powerful upgrade over the Buds2 Pro, offering fantastic sound, improved ANC, and unique smart features like live translation. They’re especially compelling for Samsung Galaxy users, who can unlock the full suite of features.

However, for those outside the Samsung ecosystem, the Buds3 Pro lose much of their appeal—reduced codec support, no seamless switching, and a price tag that competes directly with Sony and Apple make them harder to recommend universally.

The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) are the best noise-cancelling earbuds you can buy in 2025. They combine world-class ANC, rich sound, and premium design into a package that’s hard to beat.

However, they’re not perfect: average battery life, bulky size, and a high price tag mean they won’t be for everyone. If you want the absolute best ANC and a luxurious listening experience, these are worth the investment. But if you prioritize codec support, longer battery, or tighter iOS integration, Sony or Apple may be better suited.

Sony WF-1000XM5Sony WF-1000XM5

Sony WF-1000XM5 – Pros & Cons Review

The Sony WF-1000XM5 are Sony’s 2023–2025 flagship true wireless earbuds, succeeding the highly acclaimed WF-1000XM4. With a smaller design, upgraded drivers, and smarter noise cancellation, they aim to remain the benchmark for premium earbuds. But with strong competition from Bose, Apple, and Samsung, do they still hold the crown? Let’s break it down.

✅ Pros (Strengths)

  • Excellent Sound Quality

    • New Dynamic Driver X delivers wider frequency response with deep bass, clean mids, and sparkling highs [2].

    • LDAC codec support for Hi-Res wireless audio.

    • DSEE Extreme upscales compressed tracks for richer detail.

    • 360 Reality Audio for immersive spatial sound.

  • Strong Noise Cancellation

    • Dual processors (V2 + QN2e) provide adaptive ANC that blocks ~95% of ambient noise [2].

    • Foam ear tips improve passive isolation.

  • Smaller & Lighter Design

    • 25% smaller and lighter than the XM4, making them more comfortable for long sessions [1].

    • Sleeker, more premium look.

  • Smart Features

    • Adaptive Sound Control adjusts ANC/transparency based on activity.

    • Speak-to-Chat automatically pauses music when you talk.

    • Multipoint Bluetooth pairing (connect to two devices at once).

    • Hands-free Google Assistant & Alexa support.

  • Battery Life

    • 8 hours with ANC on, 12 hours without.

    • 24–36 hours total with charging case [1].

    • Fast charging: 3 minutes = 1 hour playback.

  • Call Quality Improvements

    • AI-based noise reduction and bone-conduction sensors improve voice clarity [3].

  • Customizable EQ

    • Sony Headphones Connect app offers detailed EQ adjustments.

❌ Cons (Weaknesses)

  • Expensive

    • Launch price around $299, competing directly with Bose QC Ultra and AirPods Pro 2 [1].

  • ANC Not Always Best-in-Class

    • While excellent, Bose QuietComfort Ultra still edges ahead in pure cancellation power [1][3].

  • Fit Can Be Tricky

    • Smaller glossy design may slip for some users unless tips are inserted deeply [3].

  • Call Quality Still Not Perfect

    • Better than XM4, but still struggles in very windy or crowded environments [3].

  • Spatial Audio Setup is Clunky

    • 360 Reality Audio requires ear scans and app setup, which some find frustrating [2].

  • Connectivity Issues

    • Occasional Bluetooth dropouts reported, especially in crowded areas [1].

  • Strong Competition

    • AirPods Pro 2 integrate better with iOS.

    • Bose QC Ultra offers stronger ANC.

    • Sennheiser Momentum TW4 may appeal more to audiophiles.

📊 Quick Comparison Table

Call QualityAI noise reduction, bone sensorsStill weak in wind/noise
PricePremium features$299 is steep

🏆 Verdict .

The Sony WF-1000XM5 remain one of the best all-round premium earbuds in 2025. They deliver fantastic sound, strong ANC, and a smaller, more comfortable design with plenty of smart features.

However, they’re not flawless: pricey, occasional fit issues, and strong competition mean they’re no longer the automatic “no-brainer” they once were. Still, for Android users who want Hi-Res audio, customizable EQ, and excellent ANC, they’re among the very best.

Apple AirPods Pro 2

Apple AirPods Pro 2 – Pros & Cons Review

The Apple AirPods Pro 2 (2nd Generation) are Apple’s flagship true wireless earbuds, released in late 2022 and refreshed in 2023 with a USB‑C charging case. Let’s break it down.

    • Balanced, natural sound signature that works across genres [2].

    • Wide soundstage for earbuds, though not as deep as over-ear headphones.

  • Water Resistance

    • IPX4 rating for both earbuds and case—splash and sweat resistant.

❌ Cons (Weaknesses)

  • No Hi-Res Codec Support

    • Limited to AAC; no LDAC or aptX Adaptive, which audiophiles may miss [1].

  • Battery Life is Just Average

    • ~6 hours with ANC on, ~30 hours with case.

📊 Quick Comparison Table

🏆 Verdict

The Apple AirPods Pro 2 remain the best earbuds for iPhone users in 2025. They combine excellent ANC, natural transparency, improved sound, and seamless Apple integration into a polished package.

That said, they’re not perfect: average battery life, lack of hi-res codec support, and a high price tag mean they may not appeal to Android users or audiophiles.

r/Earbuds on Reddit: why is finding the best wireless earbuds 2025 still a nightmare?? 😩
October 5, 2025 -

is it just me or are all “top rated” wireless earbuds either super overpriced or built to die right after the warranty expires?? like… i just want something that stays in during a walk, doesn’t stab my ears after 30 mins, and maybe — just maybe — doesn’t sound like static every time i talk to someone.

every best wireless earbuds 2025 list sounds exactly the same: “amazing comfort, long battery life, rich bass” blah blah. then you buy them and a week later, one side just gives up charging like it’s had enough of life.

idk man, maybe i’m cursed. or maybe my ears are just built weird 😂.

i seriously can’t stand the pair i have right now — about ready to toss them out the window lol.

r/Earbuds on Reddit: What do I buy???? Best earbuds in 2025??
February 14, 2025 -

Long story:

I bought the 'mpow m30 plus wireless earbuds' on Amazon for £40 on December 2020. Which I have used daily for work, gym, and casual listening etc.

Three days ago, I went to put them in for work, and found I had the right earbud missing. I have spent three days looking for them everywhere, but have been unsuccessful.

I went on Amazon to reorder the same ones, but mpow is no longer on Amazon? What do I buy now, I am so lost and have no idea on which companies/brands are considered good...

Price is not necessarily an issue, so any price range is fine. Sound quality and battery life are priorities, so any advice would be greatly appreciated! (Also is there a reason mpow was taken off Amazon?)

Short story:

I lost one of my earbuds, which I had been using for 4+ years, spent the past 3 days looking for it. Need advice on which eaebuds are the best in 2025, with sound quality and battery life as the main priorities. Thanks!

r/Earbuds on Reddit: Ranking the Best Earbuds to Buy at Every Budget (2025 Edition)

A while back, I came across a post ranking earbuds by price range, which was super helpful for a lot of people. Since that one’s hard to find now, I decided to remake it using newer models and what I’ve personally tested or researched. This list considers : sound quality, comfort, battery life, features and especially value for money.

Budget ($20–$50)

SoundPEATS Capsule3 Pro– $42 Surprisingly good sound for under $50. Adaptive ANC works nicely, has app EQ, and LDAC support for Android. Battery lasts 7–8 hours.

JBL Wave Beam – $39 Punchy bass, typical JBL tuning. No ANC, but passive isolation is great. Compact case and comfortable fit.

1MORE PistonBuds Pro $49 Balanced V‑shaped sound with clean highs and decent ANC. App support and customizable touch controls push them pretty high up in this list.

Hoco EQ16 – $38 Excellent value with nice sound and strong ANC and ENC. They’re the ones I’m using specifically because of the ENC part, it’s hard to find headphones that have decent mic quality. Audio wise I’d say they’re close to Ankers but the price makes it feel like a bargain.

Mid‑range ($50–$100)

Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC $79 Smart ANC, great fit, clear mids, and full‑bodied bass. Multipoint and LDAC make it future‑proof.

SoundPEATS Air4 Pro AN – $69 Lightweight fit with airy soundstage and responsive touch controls. Battery clocks in at 9 hours with ANC off. (I struggled with the name too)

High‑end ($100–$200)

Sony WF‑C700N $119 Lightweight version of the XM5, still with great ANC and comfort. Fantastic choice for travel or work.

Technics EAH‑AZ60M2. $179 Premium soundstage with natural mids and crisp treble. Multipoint works seamlessly, battery edges out Sony’s buds.

Jabra Elite 10 ANC. $179 One of the best in comfort and mic quality. Spatial sound support for both Android and iPhone users.

Apple AirPods Pro 2 $189 You guys know about those already

Boss level ($200+)

Once you’re above the $200 mark, it’s really about preference since they’re all pretty good, and keep in mind most of these I haven’t tried (sorry I’m broke)

Sony WF‑1000XM5 -$229

The benchmark for noise cancelling and sound quality(I see this one everywhere i think yall agree) Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds for 279 Best‑in‑class comfort and ANC transparency. Sound is nice and clear, especially good for people who don’t take their headphones off their head.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 with ANC for 250$ Audiophile‑grade clarity, robust build, and customizable EQ. A dream for anyone who values balanced sound over extra bass.

That’s my 2025 lineup!
Let me know which ones you’re rocking, or if I missed some underrated picks — I’ll updateo the post based on what everyone recommends

I originally posted this in r/Earbuds and they suggested I post here too.

This is part of my project to tinker with Reddit data and LLMs. Wanted to create something useful for the community while levelling up my coding chops.

The idea is to highlight which wireless earbuds got the most love. To be clear, most love =/= objectively best. But hopefully it’s a useful data point nonetheless, especially for those overwhelmed by the options.

Obviously this is a very general list. It gets way more interesting when you slice and dice the data.

If you want to dig into the data you can do so at the source / full interactive list

You can explore the data, read the comments, filter by price, subreddits, ANC, or filter for comments about sound quality, calls, using for gym, running, gaming etc. Disclaimer - the page has some affiliate links. You don’t have to use them, though they they help fund the analyses.

r/Earbuds on Reddit: What Is The Best Wireless Earbud Right Now?
July 2, 2025 -

I’ve gone through a bunch of wireless earbuds in the last couple of years. Some sounded amazing but were uncomfortable after an hour, others were fine for workouts but terrible on calls. I’m at the point where I just want one pair that can handle everything.

Sound matters to me I’m always chasing the best sound quality earbuds for music. But my job requires a lot of calls and online meetings too, so I also need something that works as the best earbuds for phone calls and even the best earbuds for Zoom meetings.

Workouts are another issue. Most of the so-called “sport” earbuds I tried either slipped out once I started running or just didn’t feel secure. That’s why I’m still searching for the best earbuds for working out something sweat-resistant, comfortable, and built to stay in place. A lot of people say the best wireless earbuds for working out overlap with the ones people recommend for calls, which would be ideal.

Based on what I’ve seen in different threads and reviews, these keep coming up the most:

  • Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Gen — great for iPhone users, reliable for workouts and calls

  • Sony WF-1000XM5 — strong noise cancelling, comfortable for all-day wear

  • Bose QuietComfort Ultra — clear sound and one of the best for call quality

  • Earfun Air Pro 4 — budget-friendly with surprisingly good mic performance

  • Cleer ARC II Sport Open Ear — open-ear style that works well for outdoor runs

  • Denon Perl Pro — premium design with balanced sound and durability

So far I haven’t found a pair that checks every box for me. Has anyone here actually found the best workout earbuds that also double as reliable for calls and meetings? I’d rather buy one pair that does everything than keep switching between different ones.

I recently did one for wireless earbuds. A lot of you requested for me to do one for headphones so here it is.

r/Earbuds on Reddit: Best Value-for-Money Earbuds in 2025? Looking for Recommendations!
July 1, 2025 -

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for earbuds that offer the best price-to-performance ratio currently available. I’m mainly after solid sound quality, good comfort, and reliable build quality — all without spending a fortune.

Good ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) is also important to me, so I’d love recommendations that balance that feature well within a reasonable price.

What are your top picks for earbuds that really deliver for their price in 2025?
Thanks in advance!

r/Earbuds on Reddit: how to choose wireless earbuds in 2025 without losing your mind? honestly…
November 21, 2025 -

i thought earbuds were supposed to be simple. turns out picking a pair feels like choosing a mortgage now lol. so here’s how I figured out how to choose wireless earbuds, after returning like… 3 sets (yes i’m that person).

  1. figure out where you’ll actually use them. commute? calls? gym? lying in bed? the “best” pair changes completely.

  2. anc isn’t always better. some light ANC models sound way cleaner than the heavy-ANC ones. trade-offs everywhere.

  3. don’t trust battery numbers unless you enjoy disappointment. take off 20–30%.

  4. check the app before buying. one brand’s app literally required an account just to tweak EQ. no thanks.

  5. comfort over specs, always. if it hurts, you’ll never use it, no matter how many “premium drivers” they brag about.

idk, maybe I’m just picky, but earbuds feel like dating… looks great on paper, but vibes matter most.

any hidden gems I should try?

I'm completely lost on this too. The only reason I'm in the market is because the old ones are giving up and of course there's an impetus to buy now in the discounted times than later when mine actually are dead. But then I have no clue. I have the galaxy buds 2 pro and I just want something that's a sensible successor to those. I've had problem with the fit of the sony xm3 back in the day and since I'm on Android I need something other than the airpods. Technics are the talk of the town, but then just read the conflicted accounts of fit and then exactly your argument.. sound quality is pointless. But then for some it's fine. Sennheiser used be there for the quality, but the audio is muffled and call quality poor. Okay, Bose used to be anti-audiophile, overpriced bad sounding pieces of kit, now I'm seeing them higher in the charts. And then there are just a massive glut for the sub 100 mark.. and then you are expected to make a compromise.. you can't complain.. but then no one tells you what the complaints are. How can I say how would it be for me? I can't even easily return these things since they are classified as hygiene things here in Germany. You can't try em all. You can't really feel the problems until after days of use and then the number of options are just endless.. so many experts.. so many graphs.. none of them tell me much. Pfff.. I'm either going to give up buying anything.. or I am just going to splash the cash. I'm going to regret it either way it seems.

just in the room because lately i have been changing a lot of earbuds, and the truth is the Soundcore Liberty 4 really surprised me much more than I thought it would. not that they are like some sort of miracle buds the way the earbuds cost them are, but still it is an incredibly good deal. to me the fit was the most important aspect, as it was more of one than a few that were more expensive than that, and the ANC is actually good as compared to anything that costs 2 times more, the two highs just sound cleaner, the bass is never muddy, etc. battery solid, connection stable not that exciting to discuss but that is what i want: the Liberty 4 just works. i was used to changing earbuds frequently but it happened that the Liberty 4 just stayed in my bag much longer than I intended. not attempting to overrate them, just that in case one feels bombarded by all the wireless earbuds sound quality considerations in the argumentation, these are one of the safer choices as far as I go. cost less than many of the purported premium ones, but actually play better in the real world. YMMV of course.
