For context, I currently have a 2011 Toyota Corolla with 250k miles on it, and as much as I love it, it’s a lil beat up (been through 3 older siblings and an accident), and I want to get an “upgrade”.
Now I know that Honda and Toyota are the first suggestions because they’re reliable and last awhile, but frankly don’t really want another Corolla and kind of want a better, more sporty looking car. Is there any other options in that price range that isn’t going to break the bank in repairs (BMWs)
Currently looking at Lexus GS and IS series, Subaru brz/ scion, Hyundai genesis, Cadillac ats, and Kia stinger as options.
Thought about maybe a Charger, Mustangs or Mercedes but I don’t really know much about them or if they have a lot of problems so that would be appreciated.
Also I am mainly looking on marketplace, so any advice on questions to asks and things to look out so that I don’t get scammed would be GREAT !!

350Z/370Z and Boxster/Cayman are going to have the highest maintenance costs. GT86 does everything an MX5 does but for more money, the MX5 is a bit of an uninspired choice though. TTS will do everything that you want, whether it puts a smile on your face whilst doing so is another thing. That leaves the MR2, S2000 and Z4. All are great, all are reasonable to run, and all will feel special as a weekend car. If it was my money I'd be looking at an S2000 or 3.0 Z4 out of those, or blowing the bank with a 370Z or Cayman. Edit: I'll throw in a wildcard, if you could find a reasonably unmolested manual 300ZX in that price range it'd be cool and an appreciating asset. More on reddit.com

It depends on what you're looking for in a car. Is it a weekend toy or your daily driver? My go-to suggestion is always the Corvette. Not just because I own one, but because there is one for nearly any budget and they're as fast as anyone needs to go on the street. They're surprisingly fuel efficient on the highway and insurance is affordable. $10,000 can get you into a nice C4 (1984-1996) or a C5 (1997-2004) in need of some TLC. More on reddit.com
