Title pretty much explains it. For context I’m in sales and have worked in data for 6 years (3 in BI, 3 in data/ai) I very much understand the strategy “theory” of sql/warehousing but I can’t do more than run the most basic queries. I’ve read fundamentals of data engineering, a few lessons from peers, but I want to learn more. Any recommendations would be great. I have a budget of 1k. My goal is to complete all three analysts certifications in Databricks academy.
Hi there! I'm a non-technical employee at a small startup (very, very basic SQL skills) and my company is offering to pay for a course to help me learn SQL so I can uplevel my techincal skills. I was wondering if anyone has good experiences with online courses, particularly paid ones?
I would love to do some sort of online college bootcamp with live online training that is several weeks/months but those are around $10kish and I think that's a little out of their price range. Some kind of price range ~$5k or below I think would be doable. Does anyone have any good recommendations?
Videos
I'm looking at the following two courses:
Khan Academy - Intro to SQL
https://www.khanacademy.org/computing/computer-programming/sql
Jose Portilla - The Complete SQL Bootcamp 2020: Go from Zero to Hero (Udemy)
https://www.udemy.com/course/the-complete-sql-bootcamp/
I'm pretty confident they are both good courses but I'm always happy to hear a second opinion :)
Hi guys,
The company I work for is willing to pay for a course related to SQL. I am aware that they are free alternatives but I would like to find a great paid course to take because it would serve as an extra layer of motivation to follow through and complete the course.
Any recommendations?
Edit: Would love something that combines Python as well if possible (currently dont have python experience)
There are so many online options, that it's not easy to navigate through all of them. Also, many of the videos out there are sponsored, so I question their authenticity.
I need to start learning database and thinking of learning SQL. Can anyone please provide some good courses paid/free to learn SQL. Thanks in advance!
I'm starting to have decision paralysis. There are many courses people recommend, but if I'm going to be paying for one, I want it to be the very best.
I'd prefer one with lots of exercises (rather than merely watching videos), since I learn best by doing.
I come from non tech background, and might loose my current job. I’m planning to learn sql and start looking for data jobs. What level sql is expected for an entry level job? And how to learn it in shortest time as possible?
As the title states, which course helped you when you first started learning SQL?
I just got to the capstone portion of the Google data analytics course, but want to get more proficient with SQL and Python first before I tackle a project. I seen a lot of posts online of people that became stumped when they got to the project section. I want to create my own project and not use one of their “templates” as you will.
Right now I’m in between paying $20 for the Udemy 0- Hero course or take the free route and do the Alex the analyst videos.
I guess it all depends on my learning style, I prefer being able to take notes and write out functions on pen and paper.
I know the best way to learn is to do, just want to get comfortable with all the terms and flows before really practicing.
Anyways any input would be appreciated,
Thanks!
Hey everyone,
I’m a student studying IT Infrastructure with a focus on systems, aiming for Systems Analyst or Application Support Analyst roles. I’m a beginner in SQL and currently deciding between LearnSQL.com and DataCamp to build my skills.
Which platform would be better for career growth? Should I use both? I’m also planning to learn Data Visualization (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is DataCamp good for that too?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Folks,
Who has the best free step by step course/tutorial for beginners on SQL?
Hi guys, hope you're well!
I have some fondation in sql but I would really like to improve. Therefore what would be the best udemy course in your opinion?
Many thanks!
Every time I check an online SQL course, it seems to teach only a sample of what SQL Server actual contains - be it an introductory or an advanced course. So, is there a course or a group of online courses that teach SQL Server from A to Z? Not just queries, but also the database management.
That’s a bit like asking if there are any Universities with programs that give you all of the degrees they offer.
SQL is a very vast topic with a large array of specializations. Some of the larger training companies will cover all of the topics, but never all in the same course, or even set of courses.
I’ve taken a few of the LinkedIn SQL courses and they’re pretty good; it’s online with a virtual instructor. You can sign up for a trial I think.
I just started learning SQL from a youtube channel for free called CODE WITH BARA. .. till now I think the guy teaches well enough and the language is interesting as well . But I'm starting to think if i should start taking any online course as well ? specially since I'm an high school student and i really wanna develop as many skill as possible before college
Folks, could you please recommend a bootcamp for SQL developer? I am a beginner.
I’m mostly looking for one that’s very interactive and with lots of practice. Not really interested in something that’s just watching videos or reading. What’s out there? I don’t mind if it’s paid as long as it’s high quality.
