There are online TTS services, Amazon Polly and Microsoft Azure both of which offer AI based Neural Net translation as well as the standard TTS. I have used them and they are very good indeed.
You can send files to them and they will process for free but may knock you off the queue if they are very busy or if you send them too much in one go so it is better to split your book into chapters and queue them up.
It takes about 4 hours for them to fully process a typical book, what they send back is an mp3. The voice quality, phrasing etc is extremely natural and can fool a lot of people.
There are different ways of accessing the services but I have found the easiest way is to use Balabolka, select the "Use Online Services" function and create a queue by pasting in each of the books chapters, one after the other, press submit then go and do something else for 4 hours.

Hey! I'm new to this sub. I have carpel tunnel syndrome and it hurts to type. I'm looking for a simple dictation software that I can just plug into any text form with a simple button press. I don't really want or need this program to do anything else. what so ever. All I want is for it to type for me, but in every place I need to type. So, in word processors, search boxes, browsers, notepad, etc.
I used to use a Macbook, and the dictation feature that came with that was perfect! I need something like this that will run in Windows 10 and 11, but I would prefer not to have to sign in, and for it to be as simplistic as possible. I know Windows comes with Cortana, but it forces you to sign in and get all tangled up in Microsoft stuff. Is there a third party voice to text app that I can literally just summon to type into any text box with a button press? Bonus points if it learns my voice.

if you’re okay with using a browser-based tool, riverside fm could actually work. you just talk, it records right in your browser, and then auto-generates a transcript you can copy-paste anywhere. no installs, no weird setup, and nothing tying you into some massive ecosystem. it’s not the same as real-time dictation, but if you’re writing longer stuff (emails, docs, notes), it’s a pretty chill way to just talk and get clean text without extra steps.
