Looking to expand my horizons and kill some time thrifting in Berkeley. Let me know if you have found any hidden gems.
What are some of your fav thrift spots in Berk/the surrounding area? 😋 need some recommendations!
What are some places you’d recommend that have a decent mens section? Thanks!
My bsf is a freshman at berk but has never been on campus. I’ve only been a few times and wanted to take her. Are there any good thrift stores nearby that anyone recommends?

what are the best spots to go thrifting near campus? I’m tired of Crossroads and Anastasia, they are so overpriced. I like the Goodwill but am hoping to find more spots
. Where should I go to shop for clothes for a reasonable price? Should I take the BART to SF?
Hey trying to sell off a bunch of my clothes, wanted to ask if any of you have sold clothes to any thrift store in Berkeley and how much they pay.
Please help a gurl out
I want to find some good thrift stores in the area. I'm open to traveling but I'm looking for two things that I haven't yet located reliably:
-
Bins that you really have to pick through that have a lot of volume
-
Charity shops that tend to have good stuff.
I know no one wants to give up their sources, but I figured I'd ask anyway.
I was at an estate sale in Danville yesterday and stopped at at a Hospice Thrift and I've found great quilts and table cloths at a Cancer Society shop in San Rafael. Hospice Thrifts seems to have a few shops in that side of the tunnel (what do you call all that? Orinda, Moraga, Walnut Creek?) so I might check it more of them.
I've had good luck at some of the Goodwill spots in Berkeley and Emeryville (maybe Albany? There's one a ways up San Pablo, not sure what city it is in) but I think I need to travel farther for good condition basics (Hospice Thrift had those) or cheap blankets and table linens I can sew with.
Urban ore in Berkeley is a savage yard that has an overwhelming amount of stuff and you really have to sift through to find the treasures. It does tend more toward home goods and furniture but they have some clothing and such as well
Oakland Museum White Elephant Sale is coming up fast.
Hi, I’m downsizing my wardrobe and wanted to sell some to loca thrift stores or vintage stores that buy clothes. Anyone had experience with selling back to stores like Crossroads or other stores in Berkeley?
I’m looking for a spot with lower prices and a decently sized selection, rather than vintage designer or anything like that. Goodwill’s prices have gone up substantially and I would prefer not to support Salvation Army. Found some good stuff at Crossroads but their prices are pretty high as well, wondering where your favorite spots are?
So far on my list are: Out of the Closet, Hayward Ecothrift, and Mars in berkeley (which is closing???)
I’m in east oakland, and while I will happily go through Goodwill merch, are there any places out here that are more like… out of the closet, crossroads, any of the places on upper Haight in the city. I see a lot of stores around town (not necessarily in east oakland) that are highly curated boutique type places and that’s not really what I’m looking for, although I do appreciate it.
Does anyone else remember the 2010’s era of thrifting kind of know what I’m talking about? And if it doesn’t exist, would people want it?
Clothes, furniture, knick-knacks, anything. The quirkier the better.
Trying to support a friend through a makeover! Looking for witchy, cottagecore style clothes that aren't overpriced! Any suggestions appreciated!
Hey, I'm looking for a place to buy some clothes, and I don't mean Mars prices. I mean Goodwill prices. Is there anywhere nearby?
There's a Goodwill at University and Shattuck.......
Mars is a Vintage Clothing store not a thrift store. Vintage clothing stores curate & pay for what they carry. Thrift stores put out donated clothing they got for free. They also have no direction or style they focus on so you have no idea what you are going to find. (I used to own a vintage clothing store. It drove me nuts when people would call it a thrift store)
Along with the Goodwill suggestion, check out "Out of the Closet" on University
