Best Times of the Day, Week, and Month to Trade Stocks
August 28, 2025 - It’s like the difference between weather and climate in temperate zones—while we might say summer is warmer than winter, any given winter day could be warmer than a summer day. As such, daily shifts in the market spark waves that wipe out most small calendar differences. So when is the best time to sell? The data confirms the traditional investor wariness of September, as it’s the only month stocks declined more often than they rose (49.9% positive days).

What times would you say are best for day trading stocks?
Yes, 9:30 to 11 is the best and if you often get burned by opening volatility, wait for 10..15min but not more than that. I think after 30min, majority stocks moves are already started and you are late to the party which means you need to wait for price to make correction and develop a new entry point. If that takes too long, it's almost lunch time where volume dries of and moves are often fakeouts. After lunch, there will be some movement but it will be better for short fades, stock has made it's run and finally breaks it's intraday trend to the downside and you can hop in and ride it back down until closing bell rings. Hope this helps. More on reddit.com

Is there a best day of the week to buy and sell stocks?
If its the local market on a good economy (7.5k- 9k PSEi) Monday is always a bull market (excited trader) except if there is any force majeure (1988) or black swan (erap edsa 2) If youre a newbie. Trade on tuesday to thursday. 2. If youre selling, sell within the 30 mins to 1 hour of the opening (excited trader). Buy 45 min - 30 mins before closing. Youll observe that big institution will sell the next day opening to take profit. That is why EOD trade is always profitable. (JFC all time high sold at EOD while insti are buying pumping it up) insti dump it d next day after the ATH, and alot of traders was whipsawed because they are expecting another pump after 3 green candles. Who are in the middle of the trade after 9am to 1:30pm? Traders, scalpers, manipulators, hyper, and those insti who slowly buy in bulk under the radar within 3-6 mos before the next pump. 3. Friday of every end of the month is window dressing, for the sat ans sunday news (good news is a good hype) Sa WINDOW DRESSING WEEK PAPASOK ANG BUY ON MONDAY MO SELL ON FRIDAY. big insti want a good monthly and quarterly report sa PSE and other regulators. 4. Never buy an IPO price, jockey will always pump it and dump it (DD). 5. Always expect that post ex-date of any dividend stocks price will go down (traders dividend play) 6. Never buy on a ghost month, its badluck for the retail chinese. If the candle is green, its not them. 7. Halving always makes the price down. A FOO make stock price down. 8. Traders always have ambivalent feelings (fearful) before fed hike, oil hike, war, and a bull market after a good announcement. 9. To knwo the peak in trading the burj khalifa, always check the volume per day. Saturation means reversal. In the global market 10. Fed hike fear, window dressing before a long weekend, before election date profit taking, yearly rebalancing, bank run & bank holiday, etc. Buy when there's blood in the streets, even if the blood is your own.“ - Baron Rothschild. What Time Does the Stock Market Open?

The stock market (US Market) opens at 9:30 New York Time (Eastern Standard Time). You may be able to place trades in the "pre-market" if your broker allows. Some brokers will let you trade as early as 4 am. Typically, we like to be up early, check the news, and look over what stocks are trading on high volume in the pre-market. That way, we are ready for when the bell rings at market open.

Is it worth buying stocks when the market opens?
While no time of day guarantees the best price for stocks, the first and last hours tend to be the most active and volatile times to buy or sell. The first hour of trading is often impacted by events that have taken place since the close of the markets the night before, such as earnings reports or geopolitical news.

November 6, 2025 - If a stock drops from $10 to $9 in regular trading but rises to $10.50 after-hours, you'll face a $1 loss in regular session but gain $0.50 per share due to the after-hours rise. July 8, 2025 - If not, it may be time to sell. Investors familiar with technical analysis and charting use indicators to analyze stock price shifts and set up preset sell signals. For example, a simple moving average (SMA) represents the arithmetic mean of the closing prices over a specific period. If a stock's price declines so that its 50-day moving average crosses below its long-term 200-day moving average, it might signal a change in its trend.

And mutual funds typically wait to execute trades so they know how much cash they need to raise to cover the day's redemptions or, conversely, how much cash from new inflows they have to invest. If a trader planned to sell a profitable position, this may be their time to do it. You never know what news might hit after the close, and there's always the potential for the stock to gap lower the next trading day.

The first hour of trading is amateur hour. No one can trade the open consistently. You most probably will have big up or down days, as you’re probably scalping. Professional day traders gather as much information in the form of price action (30min to 1hr into the open), to get a sense of what type of session is the market having, which sectors are selling off, which sectors are rallying, is spy trapped in between the previous session highs and lows. Is economic data hitting the tape around the open? How the hell should I know which stock to day trade, if I don’t even know which sector is hot for the day? Patience in trading is everything in my opinion. And as a long biased trader, I prefer not to trade the market pullback but instead set alerts on the strongest stocks, so that when the market bounces back, the trades are delivered to me on a platter and I can confidently go long. $NVAX hit my alert and confidently went long 45min in the trading session, for an excellent day trade. Pretty much held my position for the next 1hr or so for a nice $2+ move on the stock.
