I just got the Roborock QV35A on sale for $399 over Labor Day weekend. I am in love it! It vacuums everyday at 8pm and then vacuum and mops at 12am when we are asleep. We have 3 dogs. I was shocked when I emptied the collection bag this week…you’d never know all of that fur was on my floors because they look perfect everyday now. We have hard floors with rugs down and the robot does an excellent job navigating both. No problems getting lost - it has lidar instead of a camera. But it’s excellent at going around an object if need be. This model doesn’t have the corner mop extension, and doesn’t heat the mop water, nor dry the mop pads with warm air. If those 3 things are important to you, I would suggest looking at a model from Roborock that has those features and getting one. If those features aren’t important, I’d go for the QV35A. This model has the standard circular mop pads, room temp mop water cleaning, and room temp air drying for mop pads. It also has auto emptying of dustbin, and auto cleaning of mop pads. You would just need to keep an eye on the dock to make sure to empty the dirty water and refill the clean water for the bulk of the maintenance. Good luck! This is my first robot mopper and it was so confusing wading through all of the choices. Answer from pooponastick8 on reddit.com

I posted a version of this in Apr. Some of you have been asking for an updated version so here it is. This time i’ve segmented it by price for easier comparison.

For context, this is part of my project to tinker with Reddit data and LLMs. Wanted to create something useful for the community while levelling up my coding chops.

The idea is to highlight which robot vacuums got the most love. To be clear, most love =/= best. But hopefully its a useful data point nonetheless, especially for those overwhelmed by info.

Obviously this is a very general list. It does gets more interesting when you slice and dice the data.

If you want to explore the data (e.g. read the comments) and filter more stuff (price, self-emptying, comments about pets, long hair, carpet etc) you can do so on my main project page. Disclaimer: some links on the page are affiliate they help fund the analyeses. You don’t have to use them.

Methodology in the comments.

Update: I have decided to go with iRobot’s Max 750 Vac

I’m currently looking for the best robot vacuum currently available. Budget isn’t a problem. I have a yellow lab, so it needs to be able to handle pet hair super well. I have hardwood floors as well as carpet that lays over the hardwood in some areas. I’m looking for just a vacuum, not a mop/vacuum combo. Also looking for it to be self emptying. Did some research on my own and saw that the Roomba s9+ and j7+ are the top models, but I want to have a second opinion that isn’t just the internet

Looking for a good robot vacuum and could use some advice. I’ve got two cats, so there’s always fur around, and the occasional litter mess. Most of my place is hard floors, but I do have a few rugs and carpets here and there.

Ideally want something that handles pet hair well, doesn’t get stuck on rugs, and can keep up with daily cleaning. Not too picky about smart features, but ease of use and maintenance is a big plus.

Budget’s up to $1,000... just want something reliable that actually works well.

What are you all using and loving?

Edit: Thanks everyone for recommendations. I ended up buying Dreame L50 Ultra. Soon, i will post its complete review.

r/RobotVacuums on Reddit: I analyzed the 25 most recommended robot vacuums on Reddit
November 5, 2024 -

I’m doing some analysis on reddit data and looked at the most recommended robot vacuums in the past year. Thought I’d share the results here since people ask for recs often.

Methodology: I searched reddit for discussions on robot vacuums across all subreddits. I scoped the search to posts made within the past year for freshness. I found 188 relevant threads and used LLMs to analyze, extract, and categorize opinions from the 4,232 comments. I also extracted info about the robot vacuums being referred to and used that info to lookup the models on Amazon. Unfortunately for now the list only shows models available on Amazon (for simplicity’s sake). I then sorted the models by number of users with positive sentiment.

Caveat: Handling and merging different descriptions, models, abbreviations etc is non trivial, so the its not 100% accurate. It seems to be mostly right from eyeballing though?

Thought this could be helpful / interesting anyway since this crowdsourced approach helps paint a picture of which are the most popular, most tried and tested ones.

Let me know if you spot anything wrong. Or anything surprising.

I actually posted a version of this list ~5 months ago. Unfortunately there were some naive mistakes in how I did the analysis that the sub helped point out. I’ve since fixed a lot of those issues. Improvements include no longer being limited to models on Amazon, better model attribution, less duplications, model series grouping. Lemme know what you think!

r/BuyItForLife on Reddit: Best budget robot vacuum vs best robot vacuum overall?
December 27, 2023 -

I've been thinking about getting a robot vacuum for my 2 story townhouse which has a mix of carpet and tile. At first I was looking at some cheap ones on amazon as I'm not sure if it'll suit my needs, but after reading reviews, it seems like a lot of people have issues with the cheaper ones. Then I started looking at Roombas, specifically the s9+ since it has "smart mapping" which was something that didn't come with the cheaper amazon ones. Its currently on sale for $800cad which is still quite steep for me but if its worth it then I'd pay it; I absolutely HATE vacuuming.

My dad and dog make a huge mess coming in from walks and my dad doesnt sweep or vacuum ever (the last time he vacuumed, he broke the latch on our corded vacuum that holds it upright, so it makes vacuuming that much more difficult now).

So anywho, do you guys have any recommendations for robot vacuums?! Either great ones on a budget, or ones that are 100% worth the cost? Thanks!

For a robotic vacuum cleaner, you may just need additional support, wish to automate everything, or want to clean a specific mess every single day.

If you just need a little extra help while still doing your chores yourself, you can pay more for a budget option. They don’t perform deep cleaning like high-end models. However, they can assist you with vacuuming and cleaning the floor so that you can deep clean it later yourself.

If you want everything to be done automatically, consider a robotic vacuum cleaner that integrates with your smart home system. That way, you can plan ahead of time and even create immediate instructions as needed. You may also need to get a device with reliable software, such as iRobot Roomba. This way, you won’t waste time setting up, which usually ends up in errors.

Finally, if you have specific debris or mess, such as animal fur, hair, or dirt, you should look into robotic vacuum cleaners for that purpose only. That way, it will run more efficiently, and you won’t have to spend as much money. It is extremely annoying to receive a notification from your vacuum cleaner saying that it is stuck and needs your help. You shouldn’t do this too often, especially after paying a premium price for convenience.

Either way, by understanding your needs from the device, you can identify the best robotic vacuum cleaner that fits better for you.

Make sure that your purchase is covered by a warranty. Many people are upset with the product and are stuck with it due to the refund policy.

Imagine you can save your little time to do other activities you enjoy, such as watching The Boys, House of the Dragron, gaming, scrolling through Instagram, or doing your hobby. You can also spend more quality time with your loved ones rather than cleaning the house. Just imagine having a spotless floor without lifting a finger or putting an effort into it. That is a very convenient life for sure.

Not only does it allow you to have more free time, but it also means you don’t have to deal with pesky hair. Instead of yelling and scolding their pets for shedding their fur all over the house, pet owners can enjoy their time with them without thinking about this issue.

If you have a family member or someone who is allergic to fur, a robot vacuum cleaner can give you peace of mind by clearing embedded allergens on the floor that might cause many types of diseases.

Another reason why robotic vacuums are becoming so popular is their efficiency in removing all debris and unwanted particles on your floor. They come with a navigation system. They will clean all of the designated areas on a regular basis after mapping the house or rooms. If you are concerned about the corners due to their round shape, you shouldn’t. In addition to the navigation system, they are equipped with a strong suction to remove dust in a specific range. They are even better than manual vacuums, as you are likely to miss a spot or two. Since the device works automatically, there is no need for you to bend over or squat to clean the dust hidden under the furniture. You just need to let the robot do it for you.

Automation takes the advanced models of robotic vacuum cleaner to the next level. There is a feature called self-emptying container that automatically dumps dust into its base container. This minimizes the need for manual intervention entirely.

We will talk about how incredible the vacuum cleaners are with docking later. But one certain thing is they will require the least amount of maintenance and produce the best results, regardless of the price you have to pay for getting one of them, simply because they are worth it.

r/RobotVacuums on Reddit: Best All-Round Home Cleaning Robot Vacuum for 2025
May 8, 2025 -

Hey guys,

Me and my fiancée are moving into a new apartment with our cat, and we’re in the process of fully furnishing it and buying all kinds of electronics—including a robot vacuum!

Since we’ll have a budget for the whole apartment, it’s hard to say exactly how much we’ll spend on the vacuum, so I wanted to ask for your recommendations.

Could you suggest three options based on:

  1. Best budget-friendly choice – Something reliable but affordable.

  2. Best bang-for-buck choice – The sweet spot between price and performance.

  3. Best premium choice – If money wasn’t an issue, what’s the absolute best?

Also, if it’s relevant, I’m asking for the EU market, so availability and compatibility here would be ideal.

Thanks in advance for your help! Looking forward to your recommendations. 😊

Hey everyone, I wanted to share some recommendations based on the robot vacuums I’ve personally tested over on VacuumAdvice. I spend a lot of time running these robots through real-world tests like mapping, obstacle avoidance, mopping performance, and pet hair pickup, so this is honestly my favorite time of the year because you can grab the best models at their lowest prices. If you’ve been thinking about buying a robot vacuum, this is genuinely the perfect time to do it. I’ll share my top picks below, and if you want a deeper breakdown, we also have a full list of the top 20 robot vacuums you can check out.

I also wanted to disclose that we do make money from affiliate links and ads on our website.

A few quick tips before you buy:

  1. Don’t overpay for features you won’t use. If you don’t need auto-mopping or self-empty docks, you can save a lot by going one tier down.

  2. Check ceiling height under furniture. Low-profile robots clean under couches better.

  3. Avoid super cheap “no-name” brands. They usually have weak suction, bad mapping, and no long-term support.

  4. If you have pets, prioritize tangle-free brushes and strong suction. This matters more than fancy app features.

  5. For carpets, look for high suction AND rubber brushes. Bristle brushes trap hair more.

  6. Bigger homes = get a robot with LiDAR + good battery life. Camera-only mapping can struggle in dark areas.

  7. Always check replacement part prices. Cheap filters/brushes save money long-term.

  8. If you have mostly hard floors, mopping systems matter more than suction.

Roborock Saros 10R ($999.99 - $1599.99) - Best overall

  • Cleans hard floors and carpets very well. Uses Duo-Divide main brush to prevent hair tangles.

  • Uses two spinning mop pads. It can extend these mop pads when it senses edges for better coverage.

  • Smart mapping and obstacle avoidance.

  • Retractable legs that enable it to climb over obstacles up to 2.36 in (6 cm) and vertical steps up to 1.65 in (4.2 cm)

Roborock Qrevo CurvX ($849.99 - $1499.99) - Best value to money

  • Great cleaning performance with 0% hair tangles.

  • Its carpet deep cleaning is outstanding.

  • The RetractSense retractable LiDAR makes it both highly accurate for mapping and incredibly slim at just 3.14 inches, helping it fit under low furniture.

  • It uses dual spinning mop pads that apply downward pressure and can extend the mop pad to better clean along edges.

Dreame L50 Ultra ($849.99 - $1399.99)

  • Great cleaning performance. Easily picks up debris on hard floors and carpets.

  • Excellent mopping system with dual spinning pads that auto-lift 10.5mm to avoid carpets, letting you vacuum and mop mixed floors in one run.

  • Pro Leap system lets it climb big thresholds (up to 42mm) and even some chair legs, making it one of the best for obstacle crossing.

  • Smart navigation using top-mounted LiDAR.

Mova Z60 Ultra ($999.99 - $1499.99) - Best for mopping

  • Insane suction of 28,000Pa. Picks up everything from fine dust on hardwood to deep dirt in rugs.

  • Its Turbo Wave Duo Brush resists hair tangles, even with heavy shedding from a German Shepherd, no scraping is needed.

  • Auto-detects carpets and boosts suction while lifting the mop and using a drip guard to keep rugs dry.

  • With StepMaster legs and Lift Pro chassis, it climbs high thresholds up to 4.8 cm

Narwal Flow ($999.99 - $1499.99)

  • Picks up debris really well on both floors and carpets, and the brush system handles pet hair without tangling.

  • The FlowWash roller mop system performs really well, scrubbing off tough stains, picking up small liquid spills, and lifting automatically to keep carpets dry.

  • With smart navigation, solid obstacle avoidance, long battery life, and a feature-packed dock, the Flow feels like a premium, well-rounded flagship.

Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni ($699.99 - $1399.99)

  • Cleans both hard floors and carpets exceptionally. It uses a floating main brush and side brush to pick up everything efficiently without scattering.

  • Easily picks up pet hair without getting tangled.

  • Its roller-style mopping system is one of the best for mopping. It lifts automatically for carpets, extends near edges, and handles wet spills effectively.

  • Obstacle avoidance is just ok.

Eufy E25 Omni ($599.99 - $1099.99) - Best Mid Range

  • It handles everyday dust, crumbs, and pet hair really well, especially on hard floors.

  • The navigation is pretty reliable, so it doesn’t get stuck often and maps your home accurately for consistent coverage.

  • Uses roller mop pads for better mopping performance.

  • Struggles a bit with deeper carpets

Mova P10 Pro Ultra ($399.99 - $599.99) - Best Budget Option

  • With 13,000Pa suction power, it can handle everything; dust, pet hair and crumbs.

  • For this price range, the base station is pretty great. it auto-empties dust, refills water, washes the mop pads with hot water, and even dries them.

  • The mops lift up (10.5 mm) when it detects carpet so it won’t wet them, and the side brush extends to reach corners and edges.

  • It struggles a bit on carpets

Hope this helps anyone shopping during the Black Friday madness. If you’ve got any questions about a specific model, feel free to ask... I’ve probably tested it. Happy shopping!

r/RobotVacuums on Reddit: Best robot vacuum in 2026 that maps my house and empties itself?

I’m thinking about upgrading my cleaning setup. I live in a two story house with mostly hardwood floors and a few area rugs.

I want a robot vacuum that can:

Remember multiple floor layouts

Handle pet hair well

Empty itself so I don’t have to do it every day

Avoid getting stuck or needing constant babysitting

I looked at some older 2023 models, but they didn’t really impress me.

So, what’s everyone using these days for a reliable, self emptying robot vacuum? Any models you’d recommend in 2026?

Thanks in advance!

I’m looking to buy a performant robot cleaner for a big house (3 floors) - open floor plan, not many doors, natural hardwood (parquet) flooring with 2-3 carpeted areas - i want it to hoover and mop the floors but not with a lot of water since natural wood is sensitive to that. Want all the auto cleaning, emptying drying functions :) I’ve watched vacuum wars and this other guy who’s name I forget who does amazingly professional reviews (unsponsored) and their top recommendations are slightly different so I want to ask the wider community for opinions as well.

They both consider Dreame L20 Ultra as the best vacuum but with some slight concerns around cleaning the station, navigation and the extensible mop hitting stuff and maybe breaking longer term.

From here opinions differ:

  • for hardwood floors, i see Roborock S8 pro ultra or s7 mas ultra recommended by vacuum wars

  • this other guy finds the roborock Q Revo as an amazing option (cleaning performance and the ease with which you clean the docking station - vs the s7 one)

  • both s7 and Q revo though seem to have obstacle avoidance issues

Is the s8 then a superior option overall or the dreame l20?

It seems to me like roborock also generally has a better app and historically their robots perform super well so am I safer with something from this brand? If people tell me that one of the cheaper q revo or s7 ultra perform as well I don’t mind spending less either but the difference is not massive enough to be the main choosing factor.
