Depends on what you're after, but there are a bunch of cloneables in the Made In Webflow section that aren't in the template section. Answer from ZeroOneHundred on reddit.com

r/webflow on Reddit: Why Webflow templates look better than other platform's
December 8, 2023 -

Wondering why Webflow website designs are way better than the rest of the platforms.

I'm not sure how many others noticed this, but designs done by Webflow's community are way superior than Wordpress ones.

Take these two for example, have a look at the average template sold on each:

  • Wordpress Elegant Themes Marketplace

  • Webflow

Because Wordpress has a Frankenstein monster for front end. It's a mix of decades of working in different methodologies. Otherwise you can do in Wordpress anything you can do in Webflow. In my modest opinion, Wordpress should've just forked a new version that has no backwards compatibility and uses a unified way of styling the front end. The Wordpress CMS + a Webflow style frontend would've been the perfect tool for 99% of use cases. Inb4 someone mentions some random WP builder that looks like Webflow. It's not the same. It's still a builder with additional code on top of Wordpress. Making Gutenberg great is the only way to go.

Wondering why Webflow website designs are way better than the rest of the platforms. "Better" is subjective. Because I'm not sure I would agree. As a former professional photographer, when I checked out Webflow templates for professional photographers I found pretty much every photography template basically unfit for purpose. From poor structure to unusable portfolio design, none of them were built with a photographer in mind, but what the designer imagined a photographer might want. Sure, some of them "look nice" and have "interesting animations." But these two things don't necessarily translate to conversions. And when you look at the build in the designer you typically find incredibly complex interactions that don't come with any documentation, inconsistent frameworks. A lot of them are, with all due respect, a mess. So when I compare the WordPress marketplace to the Webflow one, with WordPress I see plenty of templates that I could imagine would have worked well for my old photography business. But the Webflow marketplace? The most interesting looking hero sections were simply div-blocks with a background image. Anything more complex than that instantly made the website both less visually interesting AND more difficult to update. And as for portfolios? Without custom code, something as simple as a lightbox gallery on the homepage involves having to individually name and upload each image, one by one, into the CMS. Drag and drop only available on CMS pages and then limited to 25 images per gallery. Which causes designers to make all sorts of weird workarounds. And no, Webflow designer, I don't need a field on a portfolio image called "role" where I call myself "the lead photographer." Clients don't need to know what camera I use. And if you've built a portfolio showcasing landscape photos you don't need a field listing the "client name." Do some basic research into your potential market before building your template for goodness sakes! /rant And this isn't limited to photography templates. I've found the same pretty much across the board. Designers choosing to express creativity in the design, whilst simultaneously sticking to a rigid, almost generic site outline and structure that often bears no relation to the industry its built for. So I wouldn't agree with the premise here. I think custom-built Webflow websites typically look infinitely superior to both WordPress AND Webflow templates in the marketplace. (And custom built WordPress websites typically look just as great) Thats where Webflow shines. When you build the site to fit the content and not the other way around. But I wouldn't agree that Webflow Templates look better than Wordpress Templates. They certainly typically are more "arty." But that really isn't my jam.

r/webflow on Reddit: Webflow Templates vs. Building From Scratch: What's Your Go-To and Why?

Hey Webflow wizards! 🌐

Hope you're all doing fab. So, I was deep in a design session the other day, and something got me thinking: when it comes to starting a new project in Webflow, do you usually kick off with a template or do you prefer building from the ground up?

Here's my take:

🎨 Templates: They're a fantastic starting point, especially when I'm on a tight deadline. I love how they give a solid structure, and with some tweaks, they can feel super personalized. Plus, there are some seriously stunning templates out there!

🛠 Building From Scratch: There's something genuinely satisfying about starting with a blank canvas. It's like painting – every element, every interaction feels unique and original. But, it does take more time, and sometimes, I find myself reinventing the wheel.

So, what's your jam? Template magic or the thrill of a fresh start? And if you have any cool projects you started one way or the other, drop a link! Let's inspire each other and maybe even learn a trick or two.

Catch you in the comments! ✌️

r/webflow on Reddit: Best Webflow template for a SaaS?
July 28, 2024 -

Hey folks!

I'm in the process of moving over from Framer to Webflow (that I used before). I'm looking for a good template that I could use, but the Webflow template library is really a pain in the *ss, impossible to see how old the templates are, how many people bought them, most of them are pretty cheap.

I would frankly be ready to pay $1,000+ for a high quality template (including great blog), but I don't find that option.

Sooo... what are the templates you have truly used/recommend for a SaaS company? I just need a main landing page, pricing, features page, and fully built-out blog.

Hi, i am graphic designer and have a landing page designed, and i want it online asap, I have experience in WordPress and Shopify but 0 in Webflow, i always use templates becuase i dont like coding at all, this is my very first time using webflow

My question is for my landing page, should i build it from scratch even tho i have 0 experience in webflow, and learn as i go OR find a similar template and adjust it.

For now its only a landing page, but in the future i wanna build a blog and a shop.

Thanks for guiding and sorry if its a dumb question

Not a dumb question at all. If you want your website online asap and have no experience I would suggest to use a template. But, I would recommend to go through the Webflow University videos – all of them – so you get familiar with the app. It will help you to adjust the template to your liking and by the end of it you might be able to build your site from scratch.

Webflow Templates aren't like Wordpress Themes. In order to customize a Webflow Template you are going to need to have some basic knowledge of how Webflow works. It isn't a matter of just adding your content. And while Webflow Templates do have pretty stringent submission guidelines, I've found that the build quality of templates can vary. They aren't built badly: but they are built differently. Different designers have different quirks, and it can take a while to figure out why they built something in a particular way. So it really depends on how long you've got. If you've got a bit of time to spare, I'd suggest starting with Webflow 101. https://university.webflow.com/courses/webflow-101 Once you've finished building out the examples and finishing the lessons, you can make a decision on whether to design it yourself or to use a template instead. As you are a graphic designer, and as one of the advantages of Webflow is that you can basically build a website to look any way you want, and the fact that you've already designed the landing page, suggest to me that building it yourself will prove easier than trying to adapt a template to your design. But YMMV.
