Are wired headsets better for gaming?
Wired headsets are often preferred for gaming due to their reliable, low-latency audio connection, which is crucial for real-time reactions in gameplay. They don’t require batteries, making them ideal for extended gaming sessions without the need to recharge.
Do pro gamers use wired headsets?
Yes, many pro gamers use wired headsets because they offer stability and eliminate the risk of audio lag or connection drops during competitions, where even a slight delay can affect performance.
Why do streamers use wired headphones?
Streamers typically use wired headphones to ensure consistent audio quality and to avoid any interference or latency issues that can occur with wireless options. Wired headphones also provide a more reliable setup for long streaming sessions, as you don’t have to worry about battery life.

Checked pretty much everything there is on the internet, but most posts are too old now. What I need the most is it to be wireless and preferably have Game/Chat mix. I’m planning to use in only for my PC (for PS5 I have been using Astro A50 gen 4 for 5 years, they are still fine, but I want something new and better + I’m tired to take them from my PC to PS5 every time, so I need one dedicated headset only for my PC).
So, out of all headsets here are my picks:
Logitech G Pro X 2 (not sure about the sound, tried them, Cloud 3s sounds better IMO)
Hyper X Cloud 3s (no game/chat mix and 3,5mm unfortunately)
Astor A50X (there is no A50 gen 5 in my country and + I don’t want to have 2 almost the same headsets LOL)
Razer BlackShark v3 pro (not a fan of Razer overall, but noise canceling sounds amazing)
Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (heard that it has connection and cracking sound, same as I have on Arctis 7 back in a day)
I also had Audeze Maxwell and sold them, unbearably HEAVY, but sounded the best out of all BY FAR.
If you have any other recommendations, please, feel free to share.
For now I like Cloud 3s the most, probably. But lack of Game/Chat mix and 3,5 jack is what holds me back.
I also have HD6xx and I love them, but I hate wires when playing.
Hey r/buildapc,
I’m looking for recommendations on gaming headphones for 2025, preferably from Logitech to match my mouse and speakers. My budget is below SGD 200, so I’m hoping to find something affordable yet reliable.
I’m mostly into casual online gaming like GTA RP, so I’m looking for headphones with: • Decent sound quality • Comfortable for long sessions • A good microphone for in-game comms
What would you recommend within this budget? Or are there other brands I should consider for better value?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
This is part of my project to tinker with Reddit data and LLMs. Wanted to create something useful for the community while levelling up my coding chops.
The idea is to highlight which gaming headsets got the most love specifically in the context of first person shooters. To be clear, most love =/= best. But hopefully it’s a useful data point nonetheless, especially for those overwhelmed by the options.
Any surprising rankings?
If you want to dig into the raw data, you can do so on the project page (google “RedditRecs”).
You can explore the original comments, filter by price, wireless vs wired, subreddits, comments about durability etc. Disclaimer - the page has some affiliate links. You don’t have to use them. They help fund the analyses though.

Through all of my research I have settled on the Sennheiser HD 490 Pro Plus and a Zen DAC V3. I don't know much about this stuff, although I have been doing some heavy research. All I know is that I am very sensitive to subtleties and do have a natural ear for these things. (Never cared for gaming headsets etc.)
I have DT 770 Pros right now and I recently upgraded my PC and I figure now would be the time to get some new cans aswell :). My DT 770 Pros are too trebly for my ear. I find them exhausting to game with. I do like the isolation of the closed back design but it's been so long since I had open back headphones I really can't remember what it was like at this point. So I don't know what I would ultimately prefer. I definitely want something warm. Very warm. Inviting. Pleasing. Very wide soundstage for footsteps and accurate vertical and horizontal positioning.
Budget is stretching into 600-800 if necessary. But I do like to go for best bang for the buck or sort of hit the point of diminishing returns. Just the type of person I am. :)
Any help would be AMAZING! :)
Curious about headphones and also how a DAC changes things? Do they also add elements to the resulting sound? Or just mainly amplification of what is already there to drive headphones that just need more power?
