I've had a pair of headphones of this style and brand for years, and despite being cheap from AliExpress they were surprisingly good quality. The audio quality was good, loud and clear, great to have on during a train or bus journey for audiobooks or music.
However, after over 5 years of near daily use they finally broke. I ordered a new pair, but while they look the same, the logos etc are slightly different and they sound dreadful, clearly made with cheaper parts. tinny sound and they're so quiet I can't use them on the train, I can barely hear audiobooks. I've even tried them side by side, no comparison.
But looking on Amazon, I can't find something better. Everyone these days is rocking airpod style ones, but I really prefer this ear hook design. All the ones I see are just the same ones as AliExpress, but a bit more expensive, all no brand crap.
But the more expensive ones have mixed reviews. Also, most have active noise cancelling which I actually don't want! I wear these while walking to and from work, and need to be able to hear traffic etc.
Can anyone recommend me a good pair? I could extend up to £150.
Hey guys,
I need some gym buds. My ears tend to be a bit between sizes for tips, so my current very expensive B&O buds going to the gym is a no go. I'd prefer to get a pair with hooks rather than fins, if possible. I'd probably buy the new Powerbeats Pro 2, but the IPX4 water resistance is just a hard pass for me in 2025, especially for a sport bud.
I've seen the Soundcore X20 be thrown around a lot from my research, but I'd honestly prefer to get something a step up in quality while I'm buying.
Any suggestions?
My most consistent gym buddy, my beloved Powerbeats, are nearing the end of life. Everything still works great, but the silicon covering on both ears has cracked and I inevitably fear for the worst.
Would buy these again in a heartbeat if they were still on the market. The sound, mic quality, battery life, and general ease of use has been perfect. I've considered the new Powerbeats Pro 2, but at over $300, the price point is too spicy for me.
I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations on earbuds with:
• Physical buttons (my Sony WH-1000XM4 has taught me to despise touch controls) • Over ear hook or similar character preventing them from falling off • Price up to $150 or so • Wireless connection (open to both cabled or true wireless)
Otherwise, if there's any way I could repair these I'd be thankful for suggestions on that as well.
