I've tried out a bunch of headsets over the 10 years I've worked from home as a senior software engineer and want to know what you all think are great for meetings and why?

Im now finding myself doing a lot of travelling across EMEA (uk based) and need to have teams meetings in transit often at busy airports (unavoidable).

Does anyone have any recommendations for the best noise cancelling headphones that will cut out background noise for my mic when i talk too?

What do you use?

Hey everyone, I know this question gets asked a few times but I have never seen the request to be over ear. I saw a lot of people advise the Jabra Evolve 75 but I don't want my headphone to be against my ear I want it to be over my ear. Price is not a problem, I still have a solid amount in my work budget to get it. What would you guys recommend?

Hello, all! I am in the market for a new headset for work. I work in a field where I spend about half my day on the phone with customers and half the day listening to music (and honestly, music is playing during my calls, too, just much quieter). I am currently using the Corsair Virtuoso headset, and I love it because of the high audio quality, but I need something that has Active Noise Cancelling because there is a factory being built right next to my house. Does anyone have recommendations for an over the ear headset that doesn’t sacrifice audio quality for wirelessness or ANC?

I like using my gaming headset (Plantronics RIG 600LX LX1) for video conferencing — speakers, mic, and comfort are good enough for my usage, but could be better — but I hate how the headband smushes my hair down. I'm looking for a high quality headset that doesn't rest on the top of my head.

Must-haves:

• Good sound quality

• Good, adjustable mic, something along these lines

• Over-ear or on-ear speakers, both sides

• Headband or some other method of staying on that doesn't flatten my hair (Does anyone make a headset that stays fastened sweatband style?)

• Wired.

• Decently comfortable (I might wear for a max of 2 hours at a time)

Nice-to-haves:

• Noise cancelation

• Background noise suppression for mic (I don't know if this is even a thing, but I like to work in cafes sometimes, which can be a bit noisy and make it hard to both hear and be heard)

• Spatial audio support

• Hardware mute

• No ePiC gAmEr aesthetic

Willing to spend about $200, maybe up to $300 if it checks off some of my nice-to-haves. Any recommendations? I appreciate the help.

I have an iPhone and I am on conference calls all day long. I have been using the standard earbuds that came with the iphone but they kind of suck/are wearing down. What ear buds do you guys use/recommend?

I much prefer ear buds to headsets/etc but I am willing to hear out any preferences. Thanks!

I've been using my gaming headset to take client calls, but when the client wants a video call it's a little absurd to be wearing, so I'm looking for a sleek headset or earpiece that has great call quality and background microphone noice cancellation that aren't airpods.

The Plantronics (now Poly) voyager 5200s seem promising, although the fact it uses Bluetooth 4.2 and not 5.0 is a turn off.

The blue parrot m300xt seems nice, although I can't find many, if any, reviews of it on Reddit.

For those that have either of the above two earpieces, are my concerns warranted? Any experience with them?

Any that you all recommend?

Edit 2: thanks for all of your suggestions, I went a little overboard I think. So here's what I purchased and plan to use:

• For non-video calls: my wireless gaming headset

• For video calls: Shure MV7 professional style podcast microphone (has dedicated mute button) and had good background noise cancellation, paired with my truly wireless earbuds, or will try to find a sleek looking over the ear headphone that I'll use depending on the audience

• When I don't feel like using a headset: Jabra speak 710

• For travel/on the go: Plantronics Voyager 5220

I am sick of people telling me your audio is muffled, cant hear you properly in office meetings. Due to this i am suffering in office meetings. I am ok with or without wireless. One of my main preference is too have good mic.

What is the recommendation for the highest end headset for online meetings?

I cannot use a standalone mic, and need a simple plug in headset.

The only suggestions I found on reddit seem to be mid tier.

Goal: a headset that is the highest possible quality mic + headset combo (noise cancelling preferred). The microphone quality should take priority in my situation.

The audio technica broadcast headphones seem to be the best I can find online from my research.

But are there any other top of the line options you recommend? I assume pro TV broadcaster headsets would be the best?

Money is not an issue in this particular case since the value of our clients is worth more. I want them to get the highest possible sound from our employees, but our employees are allowed to travel while working so I want to give them a portable option that can be noise cancelling while providing an extremely high quality microphone. Any recommendations on a good, reasonably inexpensive (< $100) headset for calls? Needs to be wireless (USB dongle preferred, bluetooth OK) and a mute button would be great. Price around $40-60 would be even better. Does not need to have any other functionality really. I have a pair of wired Bose QC25s for noise cancelling/travelling and a pair of Grado SR60s for listening to music.

[I've scoured the internet and reddit and found precious little recent on this topic, and most of what I have found has been in r/sysadmin so I figured I'd give it a shot posting here.]

I work from a home office and often spend 5+ hours on conference calls. I got myself a Sennheiser SD Pro 2 based on this old thread in r/sales. For the first few months it was great but the battery has stopped charging on it and the mute button has become virtually unusable only 5 months into the devices life. Sennheiser appears to have outsourced support for this headset to a third party and I'm now 14 days, 3 phone calls, 7 emails, and a $35 battery into trying to get it fixed. Suffice it to say I'm not pumped about purchasing another Sennheiser product after that.

So I'm looking for:

• DECT headset (for range and voice quality, I roam around on long calls)

• Decent mute button (this seems to be a huge issue, as lot of these headsets have a multi-function mute button that's a huge pain to use)

• PC compatible (there are some promising Plantronics headsets that are phone line only, and I'm having trouble finding the USB to phone adapters that folks are describing using to work around the problems

• Decent mute function (also a huge problem, as a lot of headsets will apparently beep loudly or offer no indication that they're on mute)

• Good battery life, with a replaceable battery (bonus if headset pads are also replaceable)

All the data I've found on this so far is years out of date. Given my heavy usage of this, I'm willing to spend a decent amount of money if the product justifies it, however I've seen little correlation between price and satisfaction/reliability so far.

TL;DR Anybody out there have personal or enterprise experience with DECT headsets and want to offer some recommendations?

Hi! I'm looking for a premium wireless headset for conference calls primarily ($200-500ish budget). Bluetooth with long range and a way to mute the mic from the device.

Some nice to haves:

• physical mute button (switch or lift mic to mute, etc.)

• visual indicator that you are muted (red light when muted, green light/no light when unmuted, etc.)

• noise canceling

• easy bluetooth connection switching (i dunno if this is a thing but it would be nice)

I have Sony wh-1000xm4 and I really like them except for the lack of a method to mute when I'm not next to the PC

I had a H540 Logitech USB headset that had great mic audio quality but I lost it. Then I used some old white iPhone headphones, which were better than no headset, but recently died. So I'm in need of a new headset.

I finally give up. I NEED to purchase a headset. I've been using Bose QC20 for years now and I LOVE them but the microphone not so much as it picks up EVERYTHING.

So my wife and I share an office now since we're both work from home which hasn't been an issue unless we're both on a call. My microphone on the QC20 picks up her voice and the folks on the call can hear every detail of what she says. We sit about 4-6 feet away from each other. I've tried playing with mic sensitivity as well but no go.

Here's my criteria:

• Must be wireless so I can move around freely, carry a child, do whatever

• Must able to connect to computer (Mac and Dell) and phone (Android)

• GREAT microphone so it can tune out everything but my voice

• Not so worried about sound quality in my ear as long as I can hear the people on the call but if the headset can double duty with a great mic and great sound, then that's a plus.

• Over ears or in-ear, not picky here as long as it's stereo. Not a fan of sound in just one ear.

• Budget: up to $400-$500 but flexible for the right headset

My research has led me to Plantronics - Voyager Focus UC and Jabra Engage 75. For anyone that has used the headset with a base, is the base necessary? Meaning can I hop in the car still be able to use the headset?

This is a serious question. I know it's up to personal preference ultimately but I am just wondering what you guys use for work? I am looking for a quality headset to conduct interviews. My current headset is junk and I want something with a higher build quality and that makes VOIP calls seem like smartphone calls in terms of quality/responsiveness.
