How do I connect a lavalier microphone to a DSLR camera?
Most cameras have a 3.5mm input. If you buy a lavalier microphone with a 3.5mm connector, you can then plug the lavalier cable directly into the camera. You can also use a transmitter and receiver to send audio from your microphone to your camera wirelessly.
Can you use a lavalier microphone for gaming?
Unless you need to hide the microphone, a lavalier microphone isn’t your best option while gaming. Check out our full guide of the best gaming microphones to see what you should get instead.
How do you wear a lavalier microphone?
Most lavalier microphones come with a clip to secure the microphone to either a tie or shirt. You can also tape the cable directly to your skin or clothing. You’ll want to prevent the cable from moving around as much as possible while recording. To prevent added noise from the cable tugging, try taping the microphone to multiple spots on your subject or looping the cable into a knot by the microphone.
I want to record good vocals for my outdoor videos (Fishing, Camping, Hiking, etc.). I invested in a Sennheiser MKE 600 shotgun mic, thinking this would be the trick, but it still captures way too much ambient noise. Even with an Auray WSS Series Professional Windshield, it can't handle anything more than a slight breeze without picking up wind noise interference. So now I am looking at Lavalier mics.
I need two mics because I will be working with my wife. My total budget for both mics is $300. The most important thing to me is the quality of the vocals. I want clear, full-bodied vocals with no ambient background noise. For example, say my wife and I are shooting in a restaurant. I have seen many YouTubers make videos in a restaurant with clear vocals, and you cannot hear the other people talking around them. I just don't know how they are doing it.
There are tons of new products on the market in 2024, and I just have no idea where to look. I am wondering if I should go wireless with dual mics going into my camera or with on-body individual recorders and sync the audio in post?
Any advice is appreciated. TiA
What are the best high quality professional lavalier mics that I should buy. I’ve heard Shure is an excellent brand, but I could be wrong. Thank you so much for your time 🙏🏾.
