Hello, hope everyone is having a great day so far.
I have used my Apple Magic Keyboard for 5 years on my iMac, as well as my mouse and mousepad. Over the last year, however, I have installed several upgrades onto my computer (e.g. RAM, SSD, eGPU), and am planning on buying a new mouse, mousepad, and keyboard, as my old ones are very worn down and dirty. The current mouse I am looking at is the Razer DeathAdder V3, and the mousepad is the SteelSeries QcK Prism XL.
However, I have had much difficulty deciding what keyboard I should use. I primarily use my computer for school work and gaming. I have found a few keyboards online, but have no idea which ones are good or bad. I heard that those advertised as “gaming keyboards” are typically not worth the price, and that other mechanical keyboards are much better, however I have no idea which one to purchase.
Here is the list I have so far:
Logitech G915
Logitech G715
Razer Blackwidow v4
SteelSeries Apex Pro V2
ASUS ROG Azoth
CORSAIR K65
Keychron Q1
Wooting 60He
Please help me decide which keyboard is the best, and which ones you recommend. Thank you for your time!
The Best Gaming Keyboard? Wooting 60HE Review
Wooting 60HE review- innovative gaming keyboard
There was a bit of a drama recently in the Trackmania community where the streamer Wirtual (a keyboard player) created a track and then set a time people thought to be impossible on keyboard and accused him of cheating. It turned out that was using one of these Wooting keyboards with custom actuation curves, enabling him to perform precise drifts and, more importantly, keep steering at a very precise angle for extended period (say, lock at 34% left for 3 seconds) - something way beyond human capability even on a controller. So now there's a debate in the community over whether these keyboards should be banned, because they can become a $100 gateway into competing at the very top of the leaderboards.
It's compounded by the fact that Trackmania is one of the few racing games where both keyboard and controller input are viable - the game itself has the so-called "action keys", where keyboard keys can be mapped for 10%, 20%, 30% etc. steering inputs instead of 0-100 like normal arrow keys do. Those are widely considered legal because the developers themselves implemented it, but "analog keyboards" are more precise than that.

Competitive gaming advantage regarding the wooting 60he
People on this sub absolutely hate gaming focused devices because they don't want to think that customs are worse.
Wootings have incredibly low latency and a whole lot of great features, like customizable actuation point, rapid trigger (key press is released as soon as it starts coming up, and pressed again as soon as it starts going down) single key macros depending on how hard you push it, and keys that can act like gamepad sticks. On top of all that, they just feel great to use. I use my wooting two HE for league of legends and Fortnite and it's substantially improved my gameplay. So yes, you can ignore these people who don't even own the boards. They're awesome keyboards for gaming
